Side effects of Metoprol include abdominal cramps, diarrhea, constipation, fatigue, insomnia, nausea, depression, dreaming, memory loss, fever, impotence, lightheadedness, slow heart rate, low blood pressure, cold extremities, sore throat, and shortness of breath or wheezing. Metoprolol can aggravate breathing difficulties in patients with asthma, chronic bronchitis, or emphysema. The Baby asprin is low dose and should be well tolerated unless you have asthma .
Oh, I forgot to mention, my EP wants to switch me to Amiodarone and I am really resistant because of the side effects. I'm currently on Sotalol because my primary problem is Vtach and Amiodarone is indicated because it controls both Afib and Vfib. I too have had problems with chronic bronchitis and occassional wheezing but I'm more concerned about the great number of other side effects!
There is a current study on something called ATI-2042 but it is only in early trials.
A nurse practioner I have dealt with for years says I should go up to the 40 mg per endocrinologist. Also have to take metoprolol for palpitations and shaking and was nervous about that as I have some wheezing and throat congestion from time to time. Doctor's said it is fine. I just wanted to check that this may all be normal as far as adjusting to the Methimazole? Most of my life I have not had the need for any medications and only take supplements which my doctors approve of them.
My electrophysiologist recently put me on a beta blocker (Metoprolol) 25 mg twice a day for hypertension and a ton of other symptoms he said must be due to Neurocardiogenic Syncope. I was diagnosed with asthma a couple years ago and it seems as if the beta blocker is causing shortness of breath and a feeling that seems similar to how I feel after exercising, a sort of chest tightness I would say.
Is this common for beta blockers to do to people with asthma?

I recently had an exacerbation of svt requiring adenosine and an increase in my maintenance metoprolol dosage. I essentially lost a day of memory and have been forgetful and foggy headed. Just wondering if this is normal. I can't get any doctor I have seen to address this.
I never know when they are going to come on and how strong they are going to be and how long they are going to last. The cardiologist has now put me on the 50mg of metoprolol/daily and 100mg of Flecainide/twice daily. Yesterday was my first dose of the flecainide and I ended up in the emergency room again. The doctor at the ER just sounded annoyed with me...told me nothing can be done, PVC's are benign. All he did was give me 1mg of Ativan for anxiety. I don't know what to do anymore...
I'm 33 years old and prescibed Metoprolol for my heart palpitations, which happens everytime I eat food. After all cardiac tests came back normal, she mentioned that it may be stress related. I'm now being prescribed 20 mg Celexa for aniexty. I only take 6.25 mg of Metoprolol, cutting it into quarters, but are scared to take the two in combination. There are so many warnings about not mixing them. My heart rate has slowed down with the Celexa, but I still get the pounding sensation.
I had, on average, 20-30,000 ectopic beats every day, and 6-700 runs of SVT per day. Most of my episodes occur at night. From 10pm to 6am, my hourly burden of PACs/SVTwas 30-80%. It starts in the evening and then keeps me awake constantly. The meds have all been a disaster. I have had two ablation attempts with failure to induce. The last ablation attempt caused pericarditis. I was.taking Metoprolol, which I have taken before and it always seems to stop working.
I have frequent PVC's (often with bigeminy) and I also have lots of reflux problems. I have been getting a lot more PVC's the past couple of weeks. I switched from Toprol XL to generic Metoprolol, and I I don't know if that has had any affect. I have also had increased reflux issues during this time. I am getting more PVC's and bigeminy than normal and am noticing it most when I lean forward, especailly while eating. Does this sound like the PVC's are coming from reflux?
t know Atelenol, but I do know Metoprolol and AFib. I am currently living with AFib and taking medications only to control, lower, my heart rate (HR). Metoprolol does the latter, as well as given unwanted lowering of my blood pressure (BP). So I am treating AFib as a condition that is treated for "rate control" and for "clot prevention", I also take warfarin.
I have suffered with taking diltiazem(180 mg ER) AND metoprolol (50 mg ER) for atril fibrillation for the past two and a half years. The side effects have been debilitating.. Both drugs have the same side effects and together and one or the other or both create what I can only describe as chaotic turbulence in my chest and pain in my left arm when the second drug kicks in.. My cardiolgist now wants me to add a blood thinner (xarelto) to my meds menu.
I was on a daily dose of the beta blocker (Metoprolol) for near lifetime SVT. My GP doc said to carry a small supply, and chew an extra 50mg when my SVT occurred (generally 4 to 5 times per month) as it MIGHT help. When I saw my cardiologist I mentioned this to him. There seems to be conflicting information out there regarding how metoprolol (and selective beta blockers) effect potassium levels in the blood... I know that non-selective BB can raise levels, but not sure how selective BB effect potassium levels.
The reason I ask is that I like to have a high-potassium diet to control my palpitations, but wonder if I need to be careful how much I intake...
Had an ultrasound done that came back normal, so nothing further was pursued. Now it is a year and a half later and I had a new test done and AST is 131 and ALT is 145. All other liver bloodwork was normal. Freaking out because I have no medical insurance. Last year my doctor told me she thinks I have fatty liver. I also take metoprolol for PVC's, which I just found out on line can damage your liver. Are these levels extremely high or what?
I was diagnosed with PVC's 15 years ago and was put on Metoprolol 25 mg. I've now been diagnosed with depression and was prescribed Prozac 10 mg which I'm afraid to take now because of the drug interactions I've seen on the internet with these two drugs. Can I run into problems by combining these two drugs.
Well here I am with a cat who has used up her nine lives and my savings account and is still wheezing and I feel its louder but she still runs around and plays all the time never coughs and I rarley see hairballs since she is still half hairless from the surgery and allergic reaction nearly 4 mnths ago. I just got out of the hospital with pneumonia and back for an er visit with the flu after taking flu shots, now I'm wheezing heavily now. Before i would wheeze just a little and used a humidfier and it ceased. now I smell as thugh I have been smoking and dont, I smell it but my wife don't. 09, he started with a cough that souned like he was clearing his throat. have seen ent and pulmanologist and had a broncoscopy and nothing was found. he has been placed on 60mg of steroids and breathing treatments that help for only a short time. we have been in and out of er's at least weekly with no success. his coughing has gotten worse and he coughs so hard he works his self into a bronch attack.
After a night at a friends house (smoke, mold, dust, pets) i woke up and had a very tough time breathing ( closed up airway and wheezing). I went to the emergency room where they took x-rays on my lungs to make sure i didn't have pneumonia, i didn't. After breathing white heavy air from a mask for a few minutes i was fine (not really sure what i was breathing).
could the wheezing, or cough & mucus be because of an allergy?

I am wondering if it can be totally unrelated to cardiomyopathy and more related to hormones? I am being treated by a cardiologist and we are trying the diuretic to see if it helps but so far it doesn't seem to. I am only taking the diuretic around the times that I expect to wheeze. I also am having a stopped up nose. Could it be allergies? But if so why only during hormonal changes?
once when i was in the school, i got trapped in the rain and suddenly, i felt pricking sensation in my palms and my respiration rate was faster then usual. The second time i experienced the same thing after 3 years when i was walking in rain in my college.
And after almost one year, i experienced a faster respiration rate when i saw a guy stabbing a girl with a knife. but this time i didnt have the pricking feel in my palms. but i made harsh breathing sound.
