Avatar n tn I've been having PVC's since about 2003. Usually would have a few bouts of them every year where they would come on every evening for anywhere from a week to a couple months. I've managed to live with them until recently. The past six months have been a nightmare. The PVC's are sometimes constant all day and night...sometimes every third beat, sometimes every 4th or 5th beat.
Avatar n tn I have frequent PVC's (often with bigeminy) and I also have lots of reflux problems. I have been getting a lot more PVC's the past couple of weeks. I switched from Toprol XL to generic Metoprolol, and I I don't know if that has had any affect. I have also had increased reflux issues during this time. I am getting more PVC's and bigeminy than normal and am noticing it most when I lean forward, especailly while eating. Does this sound like the PVC's are coming from reflux?
Avatar f tn Hey, I've got the same problem. Anxiety is terrible and been getting pvc's daily, is metoprolol a beta blocker? I took them for a couple of month but my pvc's didn't stop. My heart rate came down but I was worried that it came down to much. I started to feel about funky from them.. what you should try it's loads of fruit and vegetables. Bananas are good for a lot of things and one of them is a healthy heart.
Avatar n tn I was diagnosed with PVC's 15 years ago and was put on Metoprolol 25 mg. I've now been diagnosed with depression and was prescribed Prozac 10 mg which I'm afraid to take now because of the drug interactions I've seen on the internet with these two drugs. Can I run into problems by combining these two drugs.
378273 tn?1262097621 Hey there, I just wanted to comment because I also love to run races and am very active and have these damn pvc's that have even been making me not exercise sometimes because I'm living in constant fear. I started taking Metoprolol a little over a week ago and I don't know what to think about it. What is the name of the company you are getting this generic from? I did some research and found that Toprol doesn't approve the generic from any lab other than Par.
Avatar f tn Had an ultrasound done that came back normal, so nothing further was pursued. Now it is a year and a half later and I had a new test done and AST is 131 and ALT is 145. All other liver bloodwork was normal. Freaking out because I have no medical insurance. Last year my doctor told me she thinks I have fatty liver. I also take metoprolol for PVC's, which I just found out on line can damage your liver. Are these levels extremely high or what?
Avatar f tn Today i called the heart nurse who took the echocardiogram. She said the test came out "fine" and in the valves there was just "trivial"/mild leakage and nothing to worry about. Said my heart was good. But i am still getting lots of pvc's all day and all nite. When i first wake up feel nothing at all, soon as i sit up i feel it, and feel my heart bouncing in my chest. Will see heart doc in ten days to talk, but nurse said it's fine.
Avatar n tn I am 56 always have been active I also have had Fibromyalgia I think my stress and anxiety is because of all over body pain I have had to live with for 32 years. With that being said one of the side affects from Frbro is skipped heart beats so I have recently been put on Metoprolol Suc ER. I am up to 100mg a day and still have PVC's Just saw a doctor at Hoag in Newport Bch and she said almost everyone has PVC's and it sounds like that all that is going to be done.
Avatar n tn Metoprolol, a beta blocker, us used primarily to help reduce high blood pressure. It also slows your pulse rate. The heart has to work less hard and that is probably why we feel the pacs pvcs less. I do not think it is designed to stop them. I would not stop taking them without first talking to your doc.
Avatar f tn He told me to wean off of the metoprolol for 5 days while taking the verapamil, and to cut down to 50mg on the metoprolol for the first day and go progressively down throughout the 5 days it takes for the verapamil to get in my system. I haven't started the verapamil yet. Partially because I have a hard time swallowing pills, partially because I am confused about the specifics of switching.
589617 tn?1218719782 When i started on metoprolol for high hr with mvp i started haveing arythmias and heart pounding which i dident have before starting the metoprolol, i did have heart flutters and it stopped those and also my hr would jump up and down from 50,s up to 90,s so doc took me off the meto and put me on cartizem.I know most people can take it without any problems but also know ill never take it again.
Avatar f tn I've heard people on here say their metoprolol can make the PVC's & PAC's worse and they have turned to atenolol. I went off my Rhythmol and ToprolXL almost a year ago because I got that pro-arrhythmia effect on it. For a few months I was a-fib free and then it gradually came back to weekly or if I'm lucky, bi-weekly episodes 12-36 hrs in length.
Avatar f tn The metoprolol is for PVC's that I am constantly experiencing. They never go away and are often so strong that I cannot sleep at night. I have had an ultra sound, ECG, stress test and worn a holter monitor. Specialist said my heart looks good except a leaky valve which she seemed unconcerned about. This medication makes me feel so tired and I am concerned about the long term use of it. I have stopped taking it until today because my pvc's are so strong.
Avatar m tn My cardiologist has me on 25 mg of Metoprolol 2 x a day and wants to add 120 mg of cardizem, too. I also take Effexor XR 75 mg a day and ativan .5 mg as needed for the anxiety these things are causing me. I'm frightened all the time and it is no way to live. I have also been referred to the electrophysiologist at the end of January. I don't know what to do or how to cope. Any and all comments would be greatly appreciated... P.S.
20748650 tn?1521032211 Medical professional here at a loss; Recently a family member of mine started TriNessa. History wise she is mildly hypotensive at baseline and takes metoprolol for rhythm control. Her resting bp is 90/50, resting heart rate 40-55, pvc burden 6%. This is with metoprolol, which has been successful at suppressing symptoms. Since starting trinessa however the following has been noted; A return of symptomatic PVC's and effective loss of burden control Metoprolol observed at home.
Avatar m tn I take Metoprolol for a thick heart muscel & pvc, which it doesn't help much with the pvc's, Diltiazem was just added 120mg once a day. My doctor seemed somewhat reluctant to add the Diltiazem but said lets try it. My Blood pressure has been around 155/95. His reluctance just seems to scare me. Should I try it or should I not? If I do start taking it should I take it with the metoprolol or at different times?
Avatar m tn I found out through experimentation years ago that none of the generics worked - it used to be Toprol XL - except when I found them actually made by the original manufacturer and sold as Metoprolol.
Avatar f tn Hello... I am having an inordinate number of PVC's/PAC's and I just need advice...or help or something. Here is my background: I am 47 yo female who up till about three months ago was very healthy. I exercise daily, my weight is good, low BP, well adjusted everything lol. In the beginning of August I began having left shoulder/arm and chest pain and I thought it was related to a small lump under my left arm. I had a mammogram/US of left arm and it was negative for any problems.
Avatar f tn After my heart attack and surgery I was put on lopressor and amiodarone for heart irregularities. Because of the bad side effects of amiodarone I was taken off of that and also my beta blocker got changed. My beta blocker was changed to metoprolol tartate ..25mg twice a day. It didn't take long before I noticed that I was having pvc's again (hadn't had while on lopressor and amiodarone) and it has progressed to where it is noticeable every day ......all day long.
Avatar f tn I have been having PAC's and PVC's for the last year and a half. Have taken Atenolol and Metoprolol SUCC ER. Atenolol did nothing for me, Metoprolol would help for a few days and then would have to increase dose. When I got to 125mg of Metoprolol, I had trouble breathing. Was switched to Bystolic, started at 5mg, then 10mg. At 10mg I could no longer feel the PACs or PVCs, but again was unable to breath.
Avatar f tn Do you mean what was it when I was admitted to the hospital in 2014? It was around 140 bpm and it was all over the place. But this was a temporary problem due to the low potassium and they were able to shock me back to normal. My pulse in my early 40's was around 90 to 100 so my doctor put me on a Corgard and I was on that for 15 years. Final dosage was 180 mg. But that wasn't helping my bp. I then went was prescribed an ace inhibitor which has worked wonderfully.
Avatar m tn PVC's sometimes come and go, but for the most part pvc's dont ever go away. If you have shortness of breath with them, more than likely you may have short runs of back to back pvc's. I have NSVT and sometimes it makes me light headed. Doctors believe my condition is benign even with NSVT. For the most part if you do not have heart disease pvc's are a relatively benign condition. Sometimes down the road in life if you have pvcs frequently enough it can cause cardiomyopathy.
Avatar n tn I have severe anxiety. With that said, I get PVC'S . I have had them for 40 yrs. The pvc's come on, I get panicky, they become worse and I get feeling more anxious. My blood pressure goes up and the whole thing becomes unbearable. It took me 2 weeks ago to the ER , they did ekg, chest xray and bloodwork. They sent me home and said I was having panic attacks. I have had 3 EKGS so far, wore a 24hr holter monitor, echo w/contrast, bloodwork, and as I said a chest xray .
Avatar m tn HI, I suffer from benign pvc's but every once and a while when i am super tired and under a lot of stress like today I get a huge wave of what feels like my heart is fluttering. I feel like my blood pressure is dropping like a rock and get me super light headed like i am going to pass out and this has happened a couple times right after i eat something or when i am am eating something.
Avatar m tn I'm "controlling" my anxiety and PACs with Metoprolol and Zoloft (beta blocker and SSRI). I guess I feel a couple of them a day now. Sometimes, I can get 8-10 a minute, and it often happens with changes in position, lying on the left side, kneeling, stretching, etc.
Avatar m tn I had severe PVC's that thumped very hard, made me stop and catch my breath, and made my life miserable for the past 4 years or more. Then 7-8 months ago, I had a PM inplant due to bradycardia. The PM became inflamed, and had to be removed, and a new one implanted on the opposite side. It too became inflamed, and removed, so I now have no PM. The good news is, after the first implant, my PVC's lessened in frequency and severity. Instead of having say 1000+ per day, I have maybe 50.
