12182312 tn?1427683956 Quick question And I still will ask my doctor about this, but wanted your opinion. I take Paxil for depression, well generic brand, and also metoprolol for fast palpitations. My paroxetine is 40mg, and metoprolol is 25mg. Are they safe to take together. Is one an upper, one a downer. I take Paxil in the morning, metoprolol before bed.
Avatar m tn during second stage my BP rost to 170/100 from 140/90 and My HR went to 117. I had a flip in my heart and the doc stopped tread mill and said I have VT and refer me to a cardiologist. Did Angio and Echo all being normal. Had an event monitor for one week: The summary of Event monitor is HR varies from 40 to 140 with a sinus pause of 1.37 secs. No VT,VF with one or two pvcs. The events trigred by me or the machine finds possible VT or SVT, sinus tachy, or sinus brady.
Avatar n tn Now my doctor has prescribed 10 mg. of Paxil but I am hesitant to take it since drug interaction warnings and my pharmacist say it could lower my blood pressure too much. I do not want to return to the emergency room or experience the bad side effects again. Any advice? Is it true that SSRIs and beta blockers are not a wise combination? Is there an SSRI that works well with metoprolol tartrate? I do not have a history of high blood pressure, but I do have a history of anxiety.
Avatar f tn You know... you'd think now that everything is in a database that they'd cross reference your prescriptions for any interactions. But the ones we've dealt with (big ones) don't. My wife was taking Paxil and had to take Tamoxifen followng her breast cancer surgery. It's a five year regime. Our pharmacy happily filled each prescription for 2years until one day my wife saw a news article claiming reduced efficacy of the Tamoxifen when taken in conjunction with Paxil.
Avatar m tn I was given Zoloft 25mg a day for two weeks, then 50mg a day, but was told they interact with Metoprolol and could cause the Metoprolol to build up in my system. Is there anything else I can take? I had to stop taking Xanax (as needed) because of the interaction with Amiodarone. Someone please help, I am losing it here. Thanks.
Avatar f tn I gave him my whole scenario he said he would wean me off the metoprolol. He said I should start that night by taking 12.5mg and take it 2 times a day for 2/7 and 2/8. and 12.5mg once a day for 2/9(today) and 2/10 (tomorrow) on 2/8 my morning dose at work made me very ligthheaded almost dizzy, and very uncomfortable. So far so good these last couple of days, but I do want to just lay down so I don't feel any effects.
Avatar f tn I was taking 25mg of Paxil and my doctor wanted me off of it. He told me to take a pill once every other day for 2 weeks then stop. It has been a week now and I am having dizziness and nausea. I have to work and I need some help. Any suggestions and can you tell me about how long these side effects will last?
572087 tn?1217123686 S very from 150-283 beats per minutes was the highest one I was on Metoprolol but my Dr took me off that because I have low blood pressure and the Metoprolol was making it lower. Now I am on Ativan 1mg and Paxil to treat my anxiety it seems my anixiety triggers my heart into a SVT because I get so anxious its actaul been recoded on a ekg. Sorry I wanted to say the full story so you understand my question is can Ativan help SVT?
Avatar m tn Hi, I'm glad that the Lopressor (metoprolol) work great for you!!! Can I know why you take it? What I understand is that beta blocker have usually mild side-effects when they are give to people with high blood pressure... BUT in my case, my blood pressure is lower to normal only and rarely in the high range (only when i'm in a middle of a panic attack or in a situation where I feel trap).
1027737 tn?1253103788 Hi, Can someone tell me what the difference between Metoprolol and Metoprolol Tartrate is? Thank You in advance!
Avatar n tn He is going to go back to his doctor and talk to him about the Paxil and I am going to call the heart doctors nurse and ask her what she thinks. But if it is stress what can be done about that. Is a therapist his only option?
Avatar f tn I did not want to take the metoprolol and I declined the prescription for the metoprolol that the ER doc had wanted to give me--I should have at least taken the prescription because it was over a weekend and I could barely wait to call my md on Monday morning to get some metoprolol to control the shakes (full body) that came out of the blue and the rapid heart rate.
Avatar f tn About 4 weeks ago I started having panic disorder again after being panic free for 12 yrs. Well I went and had a checkup and turns out my gp says I have an overactive thyroid. I'm seriously scared to death. My body feels so drained. Plus my pulse is fast and blood pressure is up to like 140/85. I'm so scared. The doc wanted me to take metoprolol and I took it one night and it made me feel horrible. Idk what to do. I go see an endo on Tuesday but I'm seriously freaking out right now.
Avatar n tn My electrophysiologist recently put me on a beta blocker (Metoprolol) 25 mg twice a day for hypertension and a ton of other symptoms he said must be due to Neurocardiogenic Syncope. I was diagnosed with asthma a couple years ago and it seems as if the beta blocker is causing shortness of breath and a feeling that seems similar to how I feel after exercising, a sort of chest tightness I would say. Is this common for beta blockers to do to people with asthma?
Avatar n tn He has the shakes so bad he cannot eat, becuase he cannot eat he is losing his appetite and strength. They put him on a beta-blocker Metoprolol. He coughs so bad he chokes.
Avatar m tn my symptoms are tremors, sweaty hands and feet, dry eyes, rapid heartbeat, tight chest,i can even feel my heartbeat through my left arm, dry throat, headaches, shortness of breath, restlessness tingling in my fingertips. The doctors put me on metoprolol lorazepam and sertaline an anti depressent about ten months ago my weight was 235-240 lbs i know weigh 170 lbs. It started about two weeks ago and even with the meds my heart feels like its going to explode.
400867 tn?1371753094 I was doing so well (for me anyway) for the past month or so and now it's starting all over again. Not sure if it's from the medication (Cymbalta) that I've been on now for about a month and a half or if there is something really wrong with me. Again, I have headaches, most of the time in my forehead, the brain fog is back, I am dizzy and feel like I may pass out all the time, my vision gets funny (at least to me) and I'm just out of it.
Avatar f tn I recently had an exacerbation of svt requiring adenosine and an increase in my maintenance metoprolol dosage. I essentially lost a day of memory and have been forgetful and foggy headed. Just wondering if this is normal. I can't get any doctor I have seen to address this.
Avatar n tn I never know when they are going to come on and how strong they are going to be and how long they are going to last. The cardiologist has now put me on the 50mg of metoprolol/daily and 100mg of Flecainide/twice daily. Yesterday was my first dose of the flecainide and I ended up in the emergency room again. The doctor at the ER just sounded annoyed with me...told me nothing can be done, PVC's are benign. All he did was give me 1mg of Ativan for anxiety. I don't know what to do anymore...
Avatar f tn I'm 33 years old and prescibed Metoprolol for my heart palpitations, which happens everytime I eat food. After all cardiac tests came back normal, she mentioned that it may be stress related. I'm now being prescribed 20 mg Celexa for aniexty. I only take 6.25 mg of Metoprolol, cutting it into quarters, but are scared to take the two in combination. There are so many warnings about not mixing them. My heart rate has slowed down with the Celexa, but I still get the pounding sensation.
Avatar n tn I take paxil 25 cr now and it is working pretty good. My doc upped me to 37.5 and I noticed no difference either so went back down to 25 without a problem. I think as long as you are taking paxil going down on dose is not an issue, it's if you go off all at once but my son who is 14 and has just developed panic attacks was put on zoloft 50 mgs and it has helped him. I took zoloft first but gave me gastro problems so doc wanted me to switch.
Avatar f tn I had, on average, 20-30,000 ectopic beats every day, and 6-700 runs of SVT per day. Most of my episodes occur at night. From 10pm to 6am, my hourly burden of PACs/SVTwas 30-80%. It starts in the evening and then keeps me awake constantly. The meds have all been a disaster. I have had two ablation attempts with failure to induce. The last ablation attempt caused pericarditis. I was.taking Metoprolol, which I have taken before and it always seems to stop working.
Avatar f tn My husband and I are trying to have kids. We have been trying for only a few month, however, we are not young anymore (35) and I don't want to wait a year before consulting with a doctor (as it usually recommended). So here is my question: My husband has been taking paxil for the past 13 years (10mg). From the research online I found out that paxil changes sperm DNA that reduces permeability and as a result reduces the chance for pregnancy.
Avatar n tn I have frequent PVC's (often with bigeminy) and I also have lots of reflux problems. I have been getting a lot more PVC's the past couple of weeks. I switched from Toprol XL to generic Metoprolol, and I I don't know if that has had any affect. I have also had increased reflux issues during this time. I am getting more PVC's and bigeminy than normal and am noticing it most when I lean forward, especailly while eating. Does this sound like the PVC's are coming from reflux?
Avatar m tn t know Atelenol, but I do know Metoprolol and AFib. I am currently living with AFib and taking medications only to control, lower, my heart rate (HR). Metoprolol does the latter, as well as given unwanted lowering of my blood pressure (BP). So I am treating AFib as a condition that is treated for "rate control" and for "clot prevention", I also take warfarin.
