Metoprolol and hctz

Common Questions and Answers about Metoprolol and hctz

toprol

Avatar m tn I would say that the HCTZ was doing a better job than metoprolol and as a result your blood pressure may have risen - leading to the headache you are now experiencing.
Avatar m tn So, my cardio took me off of the ramipril and put me on 12.5 mg of metoprolol twice a day and in addition to my 12.5 of HCTZ. However, after a week of feeling exhausted, having a resting heart rate consistently in the low 50s, and not much higher otherwise, I complained during my follow up. My cardio gave me some samples of 10 mg coreg to take once a day and a prescription to fill if the side effects from the metoprolol do not get any better.
Avatar m tn Is metoprolol and amlodipine safe to take?Since I am 38 only what would be its long term effects. That is taking the drug for over 30 years? Finally whether the dosage may be changed? Please help.
Avatar f tn my Dad went to see our family doctor. had his blood work and ecg done and showed no sign of heart attack over the weekend. the cardiologist and physician talked and they put my dad back to metoprolol 25mg with the diovan 160/12.5mg. so now he's on lipitor 80mg once daily, metoprolol 25mg (2x daily), diovan, and aspirin 81mg. any comment on this prescription mix? thanks so much for your advice.

Avatar f tn Doctor took me off ALL BP meds and my nose bled uncontrollably and I wound up in the hospital and was given clonidine as my pressure reached 100/97. Now I'm on 100 mg of losartan, no HCTZ, only a cough but....my pressure is not controlled and goes up as the day progresses. Any suggestions for something that works without these awful side effects?
Avatar f tn I have well controlled blood pressure (with metoprolol and HCTZ). I am so anxious about this but also realize that heart problems can be caused by hypothyroidism....catch 22. Hope I get a response from this inquiry from someone.

Avatar f tn I'm a bit new to this whole heart failure thing, but am trying to sort it all out. I'm turning 40 soon and my heart tried going out 12 hours after I delivered my 3rd baby via c-section 5 months ago. Lungs filled with fluid, spent a week in ICU, the whole shebang. HF was about 30-35%(?) I believe. After a few months wearing a Zoll life vest I had a defibrillator implanted and so far have not had any major issues.
Avatar f tn On May 12, I stopped taking HCTZ. I had read that some had had problems with HCTZ and sweating. Gradually, I seemed to have less sweating. Also, the feeling of being hot most of the time seemed to lessen. It is summer, and I do get hot, but others are hot, also. When I do sweat, it seems like a more normal sweat. I don't have sweat pouring down my face and into my eyes as much as I did, and my clothes don't become as wet.
Avatar f tn I have COPD and something was aggravating my breathing problems. I went to the doctor yesterday and he took me off the Metoprolol and put me on 100 mg of Losartan. He told me to just stop taking the Metoprolol. I questioned starting off with such a high dose of Losartan. I seem to be very sensitive to these medications and felt starting right off with 100 mg was a bit high. Everything I've read online suggests people are usually started off with 50 mg.
Avatar f tn ve read a lot of horror stories of HCTZ causing severe visual problems such as closed-angle glaucoma and other vision losses. Has anyone experienced this with BP medications such as the one mentioned?
1198633 tn?1341182388 As far as other medications I take they are Lexapro, Verapamil, HCTZ, Loratadine, Dexilant, and Xanax XR. I was taken off metoprolol when this started because there was a concern that I could have had a delayed adverse reaction to it and that has since been replaced by the HCTZ and then Verapamil was added to help with the bouts of tachycardia. Does this all sound like something that truly could be anxiety/stress related?
Avatar n tn I used HCTZ for 10 years to control my blood calcium. Last year, I got one morning and my heart rate when up to 128. My endo took me off HCTZ and my internal put me on Lopressor. I contued having a high heart rate after HCTZ was out of my system. This year, I was put back on HCTZ due to high urine calcium content but I could not tolerate the drug at all. Even though I was taking Lopressor, I had several instances where my heart went crazy and the beat shot up to 128-146.
976897 tn?1379167602 in my case, I need a healthy dose of Lasix plus a lower dose of metoprolol to keep my blood pressure down. I was switched from HCTZ to Lasix, and it did the trick. My wife is an energizer bunny and without drugs has huge blood pressure issues, and her cocktail that works is Triamterene and Trazodone. I think this post is interesting as we all bring different heart conditions to this post, and this shows the importance of good meds, good doctor care and regular blood tests.
Avatar n tn You named too many drugs for me to comment beyond my long term experience with Toprol and Metoprolol (generic) and trouble-mares every nigh for the several years I've been on the drug. Your sharing your return to peaceful sleep after going of Toprolol raises an interest in me to change drugs. What do you take instead of Toprol ? Thanks.
Avatar n tn I was on HCTZ for awhile, and I was having similar issues. I don't know if it was chest pain exactly, but I was having some chest-related issues. Turns out HCTZ was causing my potassium levels to drop. Spoke to the dr, got off the HCTZ, and felt better. Sometimes the diuretics take out a little too much.
Avatar n tn Also wanted to add that I have a strange "pressure" sensation in my chest most of every day. Also after I eat I have a lot of gas and often regurgitation. I am on Omeprezole 40 mg for GERD. The pressure feeling is terrible and annoying and I try to cough to dispel it but that only works for a few moments and then it's back.
Avatar f tn what is the difference between triam/hctz 37.5-25 sandoz and triam/hctz 37.5-25 lan. my boyfriend has been taking triam/hctz 37.5-25 sandoz and did fine when they refilled his script the pills are different and are called triam/hctz 37.
808904 tn?1307057809 I am on 50 mg metoprolol 2 times a day and .25 mg hctz a day. Blood work right before the operation showed no problems except really low Vit. D. She gave me med for this. My CRP was normal. I am scared that my other arteries are blocked (heart). Iis it time to see a cardiologist?
Avatar f tn I've been lactating and wasn't sure if I was pregnant. My doctor did a blood test to see if I was and also did a hormone test to see why I was lactating if by chance I wasn't pregnant. Also at that visit she put me on hctz because I've been retaining water and wanted me to take it every other day. She called yesterday morning to let me know that I am in fact pregnant, this was after I had just taken the hctz. She of course toldme not to take it anymore..
Avatar f tn Hello Lynda First, Im glad that your blood pressure is better controlled and it sounds like you and your doctor have agreed that you dont need HCTZ. If your symptoms were due to HCTZ, they should have corrected themselves relatively soon after you stopped it. It sounds like they continued. Im quite concerned that your symptoms sound suspicious for urinary tract infection or other bladder associated problems. I dont feel comfortable attributing it to the HCTZ.
Avatar m tn MY GASTROLOGIST SEEMS TO THINK THE PAIN IS GAS AND THE BLOOD IS ALSO RELATED TO MY GASTRITIS AND DIVITICULITIS. I AM A LITTLE MORE CONCERNED HOWEVER. SHOULD I SEEK A SECOND OPINION OR DISCUSS THESE CONCERNES WITH MY PRIMARY CARE DOCTOR? I FEEL THE PAIN MORE WHEN I EAT. I HAVE BEEN DIAGNOSED WITH SEVERE HOMORRHOIDS AS WELL. I AM ON MULTIPLE PRESCRIPTIONS AS WELL THAT I HAVE BEEN TOLD COULD BE AFFECTING MY HEALTH. THESE INCLUDE: 1) LEVETIRACETAM 1,000 MG. 3X DAY/ 2) DIVALPROEXE 500 MG.
Avatar m tn Hello in I'm sorry to hear about your situation and I hope everything turns out for the better! It might ease you to know your not alone, I too have very high blood pressure I am a male and just 22 years old. I've always been very active in sports, not over weight, never smoked, don't drink, but I was started out on hctz which did nothing for me, the when to a combination of Losartan/hctz and I'm now on the max of those two drugs and my average Bp 150/90 throughout the day.
Avatar f tn Went to Doctor on Wednesday. I've been lactating and suspect pregnancy but maybe not. Dr. put me on HCTZ for fluid retention cause I've gained 20 lbs since January and also did lab work to see if pregnant and check my hormones to see if I'm not pregnant why I would be lactating. Got a call Friday- she said I'm pregnant- stop taking HCTZ. I had already made an appointment with my other Dr.
1027737 tn?1253103788 Hi, Can someone tell me what the difference between Metoprolol and Metoprolol Tartrate is? Thank You in advance!
Avatar f tn 2. It is ok to take both an ACE and ARB and there have been some trials using both for blood pressure management. We just have to be very careful and watch your kidney function because both medications can affect the kidney funtion so make sure your physician checks your kidney function 1-2 weeks after being on both medications. Hope this helps.
Avatar n tn My electrophysiologist recently put me on a beta blocker (Metoprolol) 25 mg twice a day for hypertension and a ton of other symptoms he said must be due to Neurocardiogenic Syncope. I was diagnosed with asthma a couple years ago and it seems as if the beta blocker is causing shortness of breath and a feeling that seems similar to how I feel after exercising, a sort of chest tightness I would say. Is this common for beta blockers to do to people with asthma?
