Avatar n tn Your cholesterol numbers sound good to me. Metoprolol at 25 mg is a very low dose, some may take lower, I have never been lower that 50 mg myself and my cholesterol numbers are similar to yours. Sorry if I missed your point, but I think you seem to be doing rather well with what you are doing.
Avatar f tn I have been on 25 mg 2X/day Metoprolol since then and was just cut off cold turkey because my GP wants me to come in to see her before she renews the script. I was on an MS medication called Rebif for two years prior to all of this. No Heart or high Cholesterol problems in my family. I was 51. I walked 5K 3 times a week. I wasn't in a high stress job and was happy. In November I became uncomfortable enough my fiance took me to the hospital after having a major attack at 2 a.

Avatar f tn Are there similar documents (guidelines, recommendations) regarding criteria for weaning patients off of lisinopril, metoprolol tartrate and aspirin ? What are the pre- and post conditions? By "pre-conditions" I mean which conditions must be met while on medication to start weaning a patient off of the drugs. And by "post-conditions" I mean which conditions must be met *after* a patient has been weaned off of the drugs?
Avatar m tn Your LDL is very high and HDL is low, I would considers some lifestyle changes that include diet and exercise as well as a statin to help get these numbers down because high cholesterol and high BP are two modifiable risk factors and both will be benefited by diet and exercise. As far as BP meds go, I'm on Benicar HCT which is a angiotensin II receptor antagonist and it has worked very well for me for many years.
15860670 tn?1443541254 Yes, I fill tired and drained all the time and I can't sleep. I have heard that both beta-blockers and statin drugs will cause Diabetes. I have been pre-diabetic for a long time and am starting to get symptoms of type 2 diabetes. My doctor has been ordering blood tests every 3-6 months to see if I need to go on medication to prevent Diabetes. I have been testing my glucose levels every day and they are in the low range of Diabetes.
Avatar f tn 49 yr old female..had PVCs..PACs..for 17 years...and, now, as of a 48 hr holter worn last week--ive had 4300 Supraventricular Ectopic beats. Never heard of SVE before, but my cardiologist told me it is NOT life threatening even though I have the beginnings of Coronary artery disease...have some "areas of narrowings" that I am working on thru diet, exercise and cholesterol meds. I can go days without a palpitation, and then bam. they are there with a vengeance.
Avatar n tn Plavix works much like a blood thinner to keep blood cells from sticking together and forming additional clots. The Metoprolol and Ramipril are both used to control your blood pressure by slowing down your heart rate and keeping your heart from being "over worked". These can be difficult to get used to and can cause fatigue, dizziness and a feeling of being disconnected.
Avatar f tn I'm a 29 year old male 5'11 175 lbs. I had been smoking the synthetic marijuana regularly but all of a sudden one day I hit it once and my heart rate went to 220 bpm with significant increase in bp they say its just a panic attack but its been 5 months and I continue to have these episodes i'm being treated with Metoprolol 12.Mg bid and xanax 1 Mg bid. If I drink or smoke I tend to have bad episodes with pulse up to 160 and bp 160/100.
Avatar m tn It was after this that I was put on the simvastatin and metoprolol. I also take aspirin ( full dose ) and flecainide for the afib. Both the metoprolol and flecainide are taken at a low dose. My readings before I started the simvastatin, were ( 140 total ) HDL 33 LDL 79 and Triglycerides 139 . What has changed is that my HDL has gone down to 24 from 33 LDL has gone down to 65. So basically Everything has gone down, what has him worried is the HDL has gone down.
Avatar m tn My 93 y/o Mom just had a stress test and echo. They show a 52% LVEF but a small infarct area at the bottom of the heart. She has no obvious symptoms but her cardiologist has put her on a new regimen of 4 meds (statin, Plavix, losartan, metoprolol)... which she finds terribly overwhelming. My question is ... why both losartan (an Angiotensin II) and metoprolol (a beta blocker)? Don't they both do the same thing by lowering blood pressure and opening up the coronary arteries?

Avatar m tn and everything came back normal. Also, my cholesterol is 137. I was taken off of the ramipril and put on 12.5mg of metoprolol twice a day. I started Monday and my heart rate hardly ever goes above 60 bpm; even standing and when I walk at a normal pace it stays in the 70's. I can't go for long walks without being exhausted, though today I was happy that I managed to get my heart rate up to 102 (at that pace it normally would have been at 118-124). I'm feeling tired often.
Avatar m tn Lipitor is a cholesterol medication that have proven studies showing reducing cholesterol and reducing some cholesterol buildup already there. The medications are your life line and you need to take them as prescribed by your doctor. Are you having current side effects from the medications? If the Metroprolol gives you side effects, there is a medication called "Coreg" which you can ask your doctor about. Coreg blocks two of the receptors.
Avatar m tn t take care of the high HR. I take both Metoprolol and Diltiazem, 50 mg and 240 mg respectively. They seem to work well together. Maybe you can take a lower dose of Metoprolol along with the Diltiazem, perhaps at a higher dose. Your post implies you nightmares are gone now that you are off of the BB... the CCB may also have that side effect.
808904 tn?1307057809 I had a left sided endarterectomy in 02/2011 and changed my lifestyle completely.. Diet includes fruits and veggies and little or no meat and plenty of fiber. My BP has fallen down some ...I guess it is due to the weight loss and excercise. But it some time gets to 90-115 (systolic) and 50-60 (diastolic)..even with the new 25 mg pills..I have been taking metoprolol for over ten years...used to have fast heartbeat...on the 25 mg it gets up to 75 sometimes ...

Avatar m tn They sent me home with a beta-blocker (Metoprolol) and that slightly lowered my heart rate to the 90s and my BP is around 130/90. The doctors couldn't figure out the cause for the episode. I am resting at home at the moment, but I am concerned about taking the beta-blockers. Will this mask a larger issue? I read that higher HR rate typically is accompanied with lower BP, but with me it is the opposite. Also, right after I take the BB, I feel a bit numb and woozy ...
Avatar m tn It has been working for me without questions. I am on Cholesterol meds and hypertension meds(Metoprolol, Altace and Norvasc) which I have been taking for the last two years. Recently I used some viagra two hours before an encounter with my date. I started drinking after the taking the Viagra. Avatar n tn My electrophysiologist recently put me on a beta blocker (Metoprolol) 25 mg twice a day for hypertension and a ton of other symptoms he said must be due to Neurocardiogenic Syncope. I was diagnosed with asthma a couple years ago and it seems as if the beta blocker is causing shortness of breath and a feeling that seems similar to how I feel after exercising, a sort of chest tightness I would say. Is this common for beta blockers to do to people with asthma?
1806721 tn?1554333407 It happens with women with cholesterol. Cholesterol attracts low BP, joint pain and breathing problems, hyperthyroidism, diabetes. Avatar f tn I take 100mg Metoprolol er daily. I have flutters and svt. I have had ep study the dr. could find nothing to ablate. I have had many heart monitors and they all show nothing to worry about. Dr. said it is just annoying and I need to live with it. I still have episodes even on this amount of metoprolol. Why would I still be having these? I also have been having dizziness and tingling on my body. Think it might be meds causing this?
