Avatar f tn My doctor recently put on methylphenidate for my resistant depression and today was the first day I took it, I felt super for the first 3 hours maybe, but then a little shaky and fatigue, is this normal on the first day? I also take lorazepam for my severe anxiety and i want to know if there's any adverse reaction, I mean my psychiatrist put me on this just want to know if my reaction is normal, other than that the first 3 hours I felt super fine the depression decrease tremendously.

Avatar f tn I just downloaded the chart suggested of all ADHD meds, helpful but not specific enough. Thanks.
5757880 tn?1395578022 Sandman, this is what I've bee told. Generic companies have to make a product that fits into a specific area of the brand name medication. Normally, the difference between generic and brand name and generic compared to another generic is nominal and goes completely unnoticed. Someone super sensitive may feel a different though. My son is now on medication for depression (been such a difficult year that I'd love to chat with you about) and I had this concern.
Avatar f tn An example would be hypertension which is known to enlarge a heart. If your son had an underlying heart condition ---- and any child for that matter----- adhd meds would exacerbate (is that how you spell that, I'm tired . . .) it. That is why these medications need to be administered with much thought and caution. Good luck with your son!
Avatar m tn However, I have also struggled with ADD my entire life and now, finally, at 44, I have sought treatment for that as well. I was prescribed methylphenidate ER-LA 20mg. I am trying to determine the best strategy for taking these pills. I have been taking the bupropion first, then the methylphenidate about an hour later. I feel GREAT at first--focused, clear, calm.
1457220 tn?1285503511 Can anyone help, i am constantly tired no matter how much sleep i have, eyes sore etc no go in me, lack of intrest in most things, i can sleep 5 hours, watch tv for approx 2 hours then drop off again for perhaps another 5 or 6 hours, but stiil tired and lacking intrest when awaken !!!!!
Avatar m tn Actually, the original source of my first treatment is still in business. However, at a cost of $15,000 for initial treatment and $4,000 for any "booster" treatments, it is not really an option for most of people who need it. Including me now.
Avatar n tn I've been on lamotrigine (lamictal) for years. I've taken many other medications for bp and not much has worked for whatever reasons. I did not find relief until I got on lamictal. It took several months to work the dose up a little at a time and some fine tuning to get the dose right. Now I'm on 300mg lamotrigine. I had some tremors and had some balance problems on the higher doses. I also take 450mg lithium carbonate and 60mg methylphenidate (this one's in the morning).
Avatar f tn your son has apparently experienced positive results with Concerta which is a form of methylphenidate, while Adderall is a form of dextroamphetamine (Ritalin and Dexedrine). Frequently the forms of methylphenidate work better for ADHD Hyperactive while the dextroamphetamines work better for the Inattentive. Which is your son? To compound matters further if he is an "active" young man, is his activity "motor" or "distractablitIy" driven?
Avatar f tn The hardest thing is the fatigue no matter how much i sleep im always tired made lot of tests and nothing unusual im on effexor 225mg too for anxiety/past depression but the tiredness has always been there and i am feeling a bit hopeless so if anyone has experienced something similar and did something that helped them i would appreciate a lot.
Avatar m tn i am taking methylphenidate two times a day one in the morning and one in the afternoon i'm fine in the morning because i go back to sleep when it is time to take my next dose after i do it makes me sick and have a headache and i am also taking 4mg of lexapro what should i do?
Avatar f tn 12 to 14 hours for Vyvanse and 8 to 10 for Concerta. Thats very close to all day coverage and not necessary. Second, they are of two different chemical classes. Concerta is a methylphenidate based medicine, while Vyvanse is an amphetamine based med. Usually you go to an amphetamine based because your methylphenidate is not working for you. The only possible reason I can think of to take both would be to turn off your mind at night so you could go to sleep and stay asleep.
Avatar m tn I have not had any trouble taking Lamotrigine 250mg BID for atypical seizures. Methylphenidate 20mg BID commonly called Ritalin, prescribed for concentration issues. I have taken these for well over 2 years now with no indication of petite mal or grand mal seizures, or seizures of any kind. My ability to concentrate has increased dramatically. I asked my neurologist about sleep and he told me to take the Lamotrigine 250x2 1 time/day.
2067929 tn?1331241754 My 7 year old son has been diagnosed with ADHD and possibly PDD or Aspergers. We are currently managing him on Concerta, methylphenidate (short acting), risperidone and Prozac. There's a very fine balance and if they are not in synch we see behavior issues. Now, at school he's great because he's in a program that's more like a boot camp but he's done SO well since being put in it. But....at afterschool program we see hitting and kicking etc.
Avatar n tn I took around 10 or so pills orally of methylphenidate for the 1st time they were 20mg ER how long will it last?
5757880 tn?1395578022 They are still evaluating him for PDD and also they will be evaluating him for sensory issues. He was originally on Vyvanse, which worked for a time and then it gradually stopped working. Any information on the medication above - I would appreciate it.
7420684 tn?1391039029 I have ADD inattentive, clinical depression, GAD and Social Anxiety. I have tried Prozac, effexor, zoloft, and wellbutrin that I recall. I have not had much luck with any of them. I have tried vyvanse for my ADD and I would hyperfocus on it and when it wore off late afternoon to early evening I would get super depressed. It helped my Social Anxiety ironically. I also tried Strattera for a week but due to my wariness with antidepressants didn't give it a chance.
6104130 tn?1379185811 Any help? I don't take any neuroleptics, only Methylphenidate for ADHD. Let's not forget to mention that I have a bad case of anxiety that I have been struggling for the past year or so to be treated, much less, diagnosed.
Avatar f tn Hi I have been on Concerta 56mg - 72mg on and off for several years. However, recently I came across a study that showed that long term use of the med impairs brain cells so I stopped abruptly. It has been years since I have been completely off the drug and I noticed that I have lost alot of my personality. I used to be so bubbly talkative and hammy. I no longer possess any of those qualities anymore, among other issues and I feel that they may be due to the long term use of the drug.
Avatar f tn I have Lyme disease and developed Morgellons disease due to never receiving treatment for Lyme. I wasn’t aware that I had it until I discovered and thoroughly researched Morgellons. I recently began taking adderall for ADHD and extreme fatigue and exhaustion caused by Lyme. When i started taking it, the Morgellons skin symptoms became significantly worse. There are fibers and deeply embedded, thick filaments projecting from lesions on my face.
