Avatar n tn For ulcer treatment, Amoxil is combined with other medications. There are several dosage regimens available, and your doctor will choose the best one for you. If your kidneys are severely impaired or you are undergoing hemodialysis, the doctor may have to adjust your dosage accordingly. Children older than 3 months: Children weighing 88 pounds and over should follow the recommended adult dose schedule. Children weighing under 88 pounds will have their dosage determined by their weight.
907968 tn?1292622204 I imagine they're trained to know which medications work best for which heart problems. As for dosage, I'm not sure. If you look at a PDR the book mentions standard dosages for children, adults and geriatric folks. I know with the antibiotics I use at work we choose which antibiotic works best for which type of injury or specific bacteria. I always calculate dosage according to species (mammals have a different calculation compared to birds or reptiles) and weight.
Avatar n tn I am having trouble finding out what is a safe maximum dosage of Diamox for psuedotumor cerebri. When I had asked my daughters neurologist this question, she said there is no maximum dosage which I found hard to believe that there wouldn't be a max dose on any medication. My daughter is 15 yrs old and had been prescribed a total of 2500 mg per day divided into 3 doses. Does anyone know the max dose for diamox? Thanks!
Avatar n tn I’ve read that the average dosage for adults is 30 mg/day. I’m a 25 year old male. I weigh 220 lbs. and am 5’11”. The only other medication I’m on is 100 mg of Zoloft/day for the treatment of depression. I have no prior medical issues. What would be the appropriate dosage range for me if I were to take this medication? I’ve read that it may have negative effects on the heart. I’m considering talking with my PCP about this but am trying to find out on my own first. Would 60 mg/day be too much?
Avatar n tn 45 and by 2:30 it has worn off. It has been great and so far the only side effect I have seen is a lack of appetite. At 2:30, the impulsivity starts again so the doctor prescribed him methylin 5mL and that doesn't work at all and upsets his stomach. Has anyone had s similar experience? The Quillivant is supposed to last 10-12 hours but doesn't. I really would like something like Quillivant that would actually last 10-12 hours. Any suggestions would be helpful. Thank you!
Avatar n tn How about you try food supplements that have shown to have equal efficacy to Ritalin,Multiple vitimin with B Complex and Vit C . also Fish oil and been tried by many parents, with success, go into your local whole food store,if you have one called "Sprouts "they are very good and will go online for you to find what you need in a Natural Remedy to help you.If the drugs you have been trying dont work its time to find something less invasive that will, Good Luck.
Avatar f tn Oh, my, MB, THIS is where you belong! For sure, for sure! For one thing so many of us already know you. For another, Autoimmune Encephalitis is the closest mimic to MS that is known. So we here are going through very much what you are going through. We already have 2 others here as permanent members who have been diagnosed with ADEM (Acute Disseminated EncephaloMyelitis). Santana is one and I can't remember right off the other. So we talk about it all the time.
Avatar n tn my 14 weeks baby girl weighing 12 pounds spits up at least 3 to 4 times every feed (4 feeds per day) and she burps many times as well and she gets all cranky and fussy while burping or spitting.. She doesn't cry excessively but she just seems annoyed and we need to keep distracting her..
Avatar f tn i got a new dr and he canged me from adderall to methylin generic ritalin....do they have kinda same ingrediaents..it to be used for depresssion but he said i have some add symptoms also on on xanax and prozac,,he is upping my prozac...
Avatar f tn For adults, we often say that FT4 ought to be about midrange. Babies, however, run higher levels of FT4 than adults. The FT4 range you provide doesn't appear to be age-adjusted (it looks like an adult range). Perhaps your pedi endo is adfvising you to increase because he knows babies should have higher levels??? Also, her TSH is quite high, and this usually indicates that a meds increase is in order.
Avatar n tn Generally, an initial visit at the office of a clinician who is licensed to offer the program determines if a child (or teen or adult, for that matter) is a suitable candidate for the program. The remainder of the program takes place at home, and the Coach helps out by monitoring the client's progress via the computer and making weekly telephone calls to the client's home. You can learn more about the program at their web site Cogmed.com.
600857 tn?1230057770 Hi all, it's me Gretchen. I had my 3rd Nuerolysis yesterday. Lets hope this works for awhile. My question is. My Pain Mgmt DR upped my Nuerontin to 300mg 2x day. He took me off the Valium and Baclofen. He said Valium is not good long term and by upping the Nuerontin I won't need Baclofen. OK. As of yet, no bad side effects, yet I've heard many say things about Nuerontin. Any input would be greatly appreciated. One last thing. I've been feeling amped out.
Avatar f tn Below is copied from Dr Burrascano's treatment guidelines for Lyme (posted on the ILADS website), including an entry on doxycycline [aka doxy] dosage: "Adults: 200 mg bid [meaning twice a day] with food; doses of up to 600 mg daily are often needed, as doxycycline is only effective at high blood levels." So perhaps your doc's doses are on the light side -- I'd ask him, but sometimes docs get huffy. I'd ask him anyway. It's your health we're talking about.
Avatar f tn My 11 year old son has the following symtoms after a streptosyme infection found in his blood in Nov 2008, and after taking methylin for 5 days in Dec 2008. Could this be related to dystonia and why? 1. frequent blinking 2. painful finger cramping 3. stress induced twitches in left side extremities 4. involuntary movements/jerks in left side extremities 5. muscle stiffness and jerks in left arm, hand, fingers, leg, foot, and toes when trying to relax 6.
Avatar m tn Beta-glucan (a subunit of active polysaccharides found in mushrooms and aloe). A 50 to 100 milligram daily supplement for adults (less for children, although beta-glucan is generally safe) will usually do the job. multivitamin. Researchers have found that a basic multivitamin/mineral supplement can reduce overall illness, including infection, especially among the older population (age 60 and up). Make sure to take one every day. Eat more Garlic.

Avatar f tn Your Dr. is the best person to advise you. The good news is that if you have used this medication under a Dr.'s care and the recommended dosage, your Dr. knows what to expect and can withdraw baby medically and properly. Baby should not experience discomfort. If that is not the case (not accusing, just mentioning) and your usage is more then your Dr. knows, then it is very important he/she be made aware.
Avatar f tn As a side note per your original post.....Methylin IS the Generic for Ritalin which someone else had suggested. They are one in the same. As I said, I have also tried that...but to No avail! Good Luck to all of us who have to constantly fight the renlentless Fatigue Monster!
351317 tn?1204751871 t just use a pill splitter and cut tablets in half. I had to ask for a lower dosage for my Benadryl myself for the same reason. This is also what I read that I needed to do with kidney function issues. Mine are capsule form that I buy behind the pharmacy counter as a prescription. The insurance still won't cover them, but they're still cheaper to buy this way than buying them OTC.
4624236 tn?1357891407 I'm 18 years old and pregnant for the second time with the same person. I lost the first child cause my mother pressured me into abortion. Me and the father aren't together and probably never will again. I don't come from a wealthy family but I do work my butt off. I decided I'm keeping this child no matter what. But I just told my mom tonight and she is making this so hard. She is not supportive at all. She keeps telling me my life will be over and all this stuff.
