TauRx Therapeutics has suggested that the mechanism by which methylene blue might delay or reverse neurodegeneration in Alzheimer's disease is as an inhibitor of Tau protein aggregation. While methylene blue arguably has an effect on Tau aggregation, it also has an effect on mitochondrial function which is likely to play an important role.
Avatar f tn The standard surgical marking pen uses methylene blue or gentian violet, both compatible with living tissue. Sharpie pens offer a non smuge benefit and more durability and are less often used. If you have been permanently tattooed by the Sharpie pen, You may require a minor procedure to excise the pigment. I am not sure of lasers will be effective.

Avatar m tn I do NOT tolerate these tablets as well and have also tried the 10mg capsules with the same effects (less effective more side effects- nausea, dizziness, fat face, racing thoughts, decreased libido, nightmares, sleep disturbances, etc.).. I have called several pharmacies but they all have the blue tablets too -_-... Th side effects persist even after a month on the different pill forms too.. Any options left? Or must I suck it up and take a pill that makes me sick or discontinue usage...
Avatar f tn None of them have given me much insight into the disease or offered up much advice on how to deal with the pain other than a prescription called Utira-C. Which is a pill containing methylene blue that I can take up to four times a day for bladder pain. However, my doctor advised me not to take it too often. If I can stand to go without it, I should, he said. Because apparently it has long-term side-effects on the heart.. So I'm scared to take it at all now.
Avatar n tn Since I live in Iowa (low of -24 degrees the other day), it was a side effects that really bothered me. Now I am on 240 mg of Diltiazem and no side effects but it is not controlling the rapid pulse rate very well. My husband, who has A-fib, saw a mention on one of the discussion boards he reads of Beta Blockers lowering the levels of Melatonin in some patients and causing sleep disturbances.
Avatar n tn I have taken Lamictal, 25mg for over a year with no side effects and positive results. I had a bad episode and several flashbacks a few months ago. My Doc wants me to go up to 200mg. I am taking 50mg for two weeks then go up. So far no side effects but I am worried, 200mg seems like a lot. Will it not make me a zombie, emotionally flat like ssris? Has anyone been up to 200mg before?
910419 tn?1289483727 uses either natural or synthetic version of methylene chloride and ethyl acetate to get the caffeine out of the bean. The amount of methylene chloride they use in food stuffs is non-toxic and harmless, although the substance itself can be toxic. Methylene chloride is a solvent. Ethyl acetate is also a solvent and over-all it has a low-toxicity rating and the level they use in food-stuffs is non-toxic.
Avatar f tn For 12 weeks My question is not so much about the Sovaldi but is there anyone out there on Ribavirin and if you are experiencing side effects of it? Does it get worse as the days progress. Is there anything you could do to help ease the side effects? This is definitely a life changing experience as I am 60 years old and just enjoying life as a grandmother. Would live to hear more about others and their experiences with the disease and treatments.
Avatar f tn At this time in my life I was in an abusive marriage. I tried Zoloft again but felt it gave me bad side effects so I stopped the meds. I left my abusive husband and my anxiety, panic attacks and bad feelings all went away. I remarried 4 years ago things were going good till I became pregnant 2 years ago had many complications and almost died. Since then my panic, anxiety and hypochondria about my health has returned.
600857 tn?1230057770 OK, here's the "strange one" of the group. I have taken Vicodin for 4 years. It only makes me "grumpy" at the end of a day when I have over done my limitations and I am hurting and absolutely nothing works to ease my pain. My family knows when it's one of those evenings and they are kind enough to leave me alone and let me be a "B" all by myself. I don't even want to be around anyone. But those days are not often.

349465 tn?1289081764 Thought I'd be the one to defend the Avastin here...Theresa, I'm sure you know the success I've had with this drug and as bad as some of those side effects are, I've suffered only from fatigue. Sorry Beachwalker, but ANY chemo drug comes with a long list of negative side effects...not just Avastin. Having said that, my costs (in Canada) are roughly $4300 per treatment and that's after a reimbursment from Roche Canada for $1400.
Avatar f tn He is now back on dilantin and has been seizure free with the side effects that a lot of people mention (slightly disoriented at times, light headed etc) However he has had a cough at night since then and it can be quite bad. He isn't able to get a good nights sleep (nor am I) since then. His chest Xray was fine. Has anyone else had a problem with this?
Avatar f tn The reported side effects of acyclovir include hallucinations, psychosis, lethargy, mood changes, and confusion. However, most of these occur in much higher doses than yours. Also, I stress "reported"; cause and effect is unclear. The specific words you use -- mood change, irritability, and depression (which is what your sympoms, as a group, suggest -- as you probably know) have not been described, but I suppose it is possible.
Avatar m tn I will do that it seems the higher dose has created this and I'm not on anything else.
