well its really up to you jumping at 4mg jump starts your recovery buy a couple of weeks I tapered down to 1 from 150 and tapering below 5 was miserable and my final withdrawal was no worst then tapering below 5 so I tell everyone jump and just go threw the withdrawals there is no getting around them you go threw them no mater how you go off its just a mater of how soon you start get yourself a case of gatoraid and some highlands restful legs you can pick both up at walmart your final withdrawl

i now want to come off methadone but im afraid of the withdrawal symtons.i am about 50 lbs over weight with high blood preasure and other problems.im not sure why ive waited so long to come to this decision the only thing that comes to mind is that 1 im afraid i will get back on the drugs and 2 im afraid of the withdrawal.i was more afraid in the early years of getting back on drugs but not so much now my life is so different and so far away from that old life i used to live.

But it was not like this on done, or the two day withdrawal to get on subs, is it the drug, withdrawal. i think a bit of alcohol withdrawal too! But i am ready to give up suboxone at 12 mgs, i think, is this high enough to not feel the pain, as with methadone i could take codeine, this blocks it, my dr. lied to me! I have been reading all of thes pages about people detoxing off methadone and how horrible it is and its staring to freak me out.i was on 55 and now im on 45mg and plan on going down 5 a week until i get to around 20. once at 20 i think ill slow it donw a bit to 3 a week till im down to 5. mainly what the real question is am i going to feel like hell for weeks after i everntualy get down to 1mg a day for a week and then stop.

As most of you have read my posts, and I have decided when I get to 10mgs of methadone Im quitting cold turkey...my tapering down is not working very well for me at this point...I woke up at 5am with diarrhea, chills and a little sweating. Im pigheaded and stubborn, as addicts can be, and im at 13mgs right now, but either i continue going down 3mgs a week., or quit cold turkey......

I have fibermilga which narcotics like methadone really don't help. right now I would get up to walmart and pick up a 3 in 1 vitamin calcium magnesium zinc take 4 with breakfast and 4 with dinner this will really help cut down the withdrawal you will feel ...methadone robs your body of these minerals making the withdrawal much worst....as for how you will feel a lot has to do with how high of dose you where on and for how long that and your age will all factor in.....

I am currently on methadone, I did not respond very well to small amounts, having no effect on me what so ever, I was not even very heavy user, well ok, It was pretty high. I was on 200 mg of liquid methadone and have started tapering I am down to190 now, does anyone have any tips that can help with tapering or any personal experience that I should take into consideration. He helped me through my withdrawal of methadone a year ago and he is correct that you NEED to get some protein poweder and the supplements posted in the health pages section "amino protocol". You basically get out of detox, what you put into it. I know the last thing you will feel like doing is exercise but the more you take your supplements and the more you exercise, the faster you will heal!

my daughter is 33yrs old and was arrest on 8/27/08. At the time of her arrest she was on daily methadone (110mg). since they don't give methadone in jail she was forced into cold turkey withdrawal. Last thur4day she was sent to a mental health faciltiy because she is seeing things and hears voices.
