Methadone withdrawal schedule

Common Questions and Answers about Methadone withdrawal schedule

methadose

Avatar f tn , but rather you are dealing with addiction. I can agree that the withdrawal after methadone is more difficult than the withdrawal from dilaudid in SOME respects. It is thought that the 'total withdrawal' is the same, if doses are comparable; methadone had longer, milder withdrawal, and dilaudid has shorter, more intense withdrawal. But the total pain is the same. A second thing, though, that pushes me to see you not having only 'physical dependence'...
Avatar f tn I want to add... My worse day of withdrawal was Saturday, 48hrz since last dose of methadone. All i had was restless legs from hell and lower back pain. It magically went away in my sleep Saturday night. Am i out of clear?
Avatar m tn Are the withdrawal symptoms I am suffering from the suboxone withdrawal or are they from the residual methadone withdrawal? I suspect that these symptoms are still from the 30 years of methadone I put into my body since I've only been off of methadone about 2 1/2 months. Can anyone tell me how long they suffered methadone withdrawal symptoms after a long methadone addiction? Should I continue to stay on the four mg.
Avatar f tn my husband went cold turkey on 20mg of methadone and he was very sick for many months with acute withdrawal symptoms. if you taper the withdrawal will be less severe. elevated blood pressure is a concern when detoxing.therefore since you already have high blood pressure the doctor might increase your corgard or prescribe another during your detox.
Avatar m tn Suboxone is a very strong long lasting opoid which causes more intense and longer lasting withdrawal then most opiates. (except for methadone) which is the worst. And the length of time that you are on it all depends on the person and what they were using prior to treatment. Are you seeing a doctor to get the suboxone? They will create a schedule for you based on your history of use and body. They will also help you slowly taper off to create as little withdrawal as possible.
Avatar f tn I'm not sure what day you're on in withdrawal but sleep will return soon. It sounds like right now you'll only catch some sleep here and there in bits and pieces. What I think you should do right now is soak in a tub of hot water and Epsom if you have some. Make it as hot as u can stand it. Soak as long as you can stand it. This will calm things down. What I did was sleep in a recliner in front of the TV. Don't fight it. Don't expect normal for awhile.
1951214 tn?1324750645 m sure as he is the most knowledgeable about methadone withdrawal. He told me 90 days was the worst of it and he was right, but you are on a much higher dose and I'm not sure about that. Congratulations on your desire to be free of the chains and don't let anyone deter you from your goal. Whatever you have to go through, it's worth it!
Avatar m tn 1) Based on the amount and length of use I described above, How bad will my Methadone withdrawal be? I already know it will start at 24 hours. When will it peak, and how long will the major physical withdrawal last? 2) Same question with the Lorazepam. How long will the any physical withdrawal last? But more important is when will the real bad emotional reaction end? 3) Should I quit the Methadone first or both at the same time?

Avatar m tn t slept for more than a week, tremors, nausea, etc, etc. all the extreme withdrawal symptoms from suddem ceastation of a schedule III Narcotic COLD TURKEY. Is this Negligence... Incompetence... Malpractice? Or just S. O. L.
Avatar m tn hi. were you originally on methadone and trying to use subs for withdrawal? one should not be taken when you are on the other. can you give us some more information? are you trying to do this on your own without a doctor?
Avatar n tn I have been taking around 3-5 roxicodone 30mgs a day, which is about 90-150mgs, and i want to know what would be a good tapering method? I cant get suboxone or methadone. Also Roxies are the same as OCs just they are not time released.
1753993 tn?1312374710 The Harrison Act has been around for over 80 years in the US, making it unlawful to prescribe or administer opioids to treat addiction or to prevent withdrawal. There are two exceptions; methadone maintenance, when administered through closely regulated clinics, and DATA 2000, the act that allows for use of schedule III, IV, or V substances that are FDA indicated to treat opioid dependence-- such as Suboxone.
Avatar f tn Please if anyone has any advice or has been in this situation and has a child that didnt go thru withdrawal or have complications at birth please respond! Thank you!

Avatar f tn I returned to methadone as was best option during pregnancy.(fortunately baby had no withdrawal symptoms). Haven't used heroin for about 5 years but so scared of withdrawal, thought i would be on one of the above for life. Baby now 19mths & have been withdrawing slowly so can still fulfill parental (single). I am currently on 4mg and have conflicting info regarding what to do next.
1311475 tn?1274198780 I am now taking 60 mg. of methadone, trying to get off of the methadone to become eligible for other pain treatment. I didn't know where to ask this question. The 1st reason I started taking the methadone was due to heroin abuse, which I started to kill the pain from a car accident. I had dabbled in heroin use prior to my car accident. But have been clean for many years now, thanks to the methadone.
Avatar n tn You should be in mild withdrawal before you take your first sub, otherwise the sub can force a precipitated withdrawal and it will take a day or two to balance out. Most docs want you to go 24 hours without your short acting opiate before starting on the sub. While we cannot recommend dosage levels here because we are not doctors, if you are not working with a doc, start at the lowest dose.
Avatar n tn I strongly suggest not to do so. Methadone withdrawal is one of, if not the worst withdrawal out there. 20mg is way too high to cut off cold turkey. I can almost guarantee you that you will not last. It`s going to be damn near impossible. Even if you made it through the hell of methadone withdrawal, the symptoms will last for weeks, even months after. It`s not worth it. Regardless, I wish you the best of luck in your endeavors, and hope you successfully complete your treatment.
Avatar f tn of course she wants meth.....it's legal dope.......meth should only be used for folks that will never be able to get off hard drugs-----folks who will get theirs from the street if they can't get the methadone......has daughter looked into any of the other programs out there? the 12 step? does she seem invested in getting off?
Avatar f tn Hi...I am new to this community...I would really appreciate any help/insight as I honestly pursue release from 10+years of Opiate Dependence/Addiction...Most recently, 8 yrs on Methadone...My previous experience regarding escape from the dependence: 2001 Spent just under 4 full weeks in an acute withdrawl syndrom detoxing from a High Dose Oxycontin Addiction in a PA Rehab. The worst of it was the damn Neuro symptoms..specifically involving My Left (occasionally also my right) Leg/Foot.
Avatar n tn my daughter is 33yrs old and was arrest on 8/27/08. Avatar m tn Hi, my name is Chris 37. I have been addicted to opiates for 10 years, on methadone for 2 years. i am on 400 ml. I have no idea how i got this high. Anyhow i have recently found out my son has been hooked on opiates for a year or so. Now he has been introduced to methadone on the streets and wants to get off of everything. I guess my question is should he try to ween off the morphine and oxys or the methadone first.
Avatar f tn This part of tramadol makes the mental part of withdrawal from this drug very difficult. When I was able to compare withdrawal from methadone and withdrawal from tramadol I thought tramadol was worse.Although tramadol has acute withdrawal and it over in 3-6 days.I hope a doctor could help you function through your withdrawal from methadone,What I did was a two month taper from 80mgs a day 4 20mgs doses per day for pain.Jumped off methadone at around 2.5 mgs per day.I did have withdrawal problems.
