Methadone withdrawal diarrhea

Common Questions and Answers about Methadone withdrawal diarrhea

methadose

Avatar f tn GoingTo MakeIt is correct it can be mild or severe, from my own personal experience during my detox from methadone, it was bad during the first two weeks, but I still functioned, as best as I could anyway, I tapered down from 90mgs down to 2mgs then stopped, my symtoms were like many who stop methadone, no energy, depression, bad anxiety, couldnt sleep, sneezing, etc. It has been 2 1/2 months since being off methadone & I am back to my pre-methadone days, & very happy about my success!!!
1311475 tn?1274198780 Just the normal outcome. Why would I have all of these withdrawal syptoms and no diarrhea? Not that I want it, I just want some answers and some pain relief. I am tired of being nice to people when I feel like crap because of the pain. I wake up everyday feeling like I've been run over by a mack truck, and now I have withdrawal on top of that along with a host of other problems.
Avatar f tn Is there a way to find a doctor that specializes or is familiar with methadone withdrawal. I don’t know that I necessarily want to go to just any family doctor because I feel there’s probably still a lot of stigma with thisAnd don’t want to feel judged by the nurses or the doctor. Also it is my understanding that there is not a medication that helps with methadone withdrawal and getting off of it faster- I was told that you just have to treat the symptoms?
Avatar f tn so you stopped methadone at 120-140mg????....You probably feel so rough because methadone has to be tapered down real slow...I was on 80-90 mg a day for over 7 yrs and it took me 6 months to taper...today is 26 days methadone free for me and I'm still feeling withdrawals...I've heard it can take around 90 days to feel better....you can pick up a calcium/magnesium/zinc supplement, take 4 in the morning and 4 in the evening..it will help with rls....
Avatar f tn So I've been on methadone for 7 years i got down to 12mg and have stopped im on my 5th day and have only had minor diarrhea and a little tired i guess i want to know if its going to get worse
4833242 tn?1359860948 The methadone you took is slowing down the withdrawal. You will be feeling it by monday, but not severe. Half the last methadone dose will still be in your blood after 60 hrs. That's about how long it will be by monday morning. If you want to speed up the detox, a sauna might help flush some of the methadone and the other opiates you where on before. Drink lots of water and soak in hot baths, to relax and flush the methadone. It's kind of a waiting game, every body is different.

877402 tn?1241569071 It activates the same opioid receptors as narcotics, effectively eliminating withdrawal symptoms. Providing the correct dose of methadone prevents opioid withdrawal symptoms and eases drug craving but it does not provide the euphoria. The dose can be slowly tapered off, freeing the person from physical dependence without withdrawal symptoms. Methadone is the most effective known treatment for narcotic addiction.
Avatar f tn It may get worse but for some reason i dont think so because when I get diarrhea, usaully I am in full blown withdrawal. Everybody is soo different . I was only on methadone for 11 months, and I started at 80mg, i was only at 80mgs for two months, then titrated 3mgs a week. I dont understand it. Maybe it was all the opiate ease pills and the 20 vitamins I have been taking a day,,im sure it helped.
Avatar n tn Methadone detox is a lot like a cold, with diarrhea. Runny nose, cranky, chills, the whole bit. She may just be in withdrawal. Subutex does the same thing, though a little different. Are you off the subs now?

Avatar f tn - As a mom to be, you want to do what’s best for your baby, and getting on something like methadone, which causes a withdrawal syndrome in newborns, may not feel like the right thing to do.
Avatar m tn I am coming off of methadone for the third time and YES it is a much longer, much more difficult withdrawal than any other drug out there. I've heard heroin addicts that have been on methadone also but at different times say they would take heroin withdrawal any day over methadone.
Avatar m tn I just started the triple treatment yesterday. I have been on methadone maintenance for 15 months and from what I've been reading the Incivek somehow uses your methadone faster and you will need a dosage change. Has anyone had this same issue. My gastro said not to worry about this issue too much. Just told me to keep track of symptoms but the side effect symptoms are the same as opiate withdrawal symptoms. How do I know what is is a side effect of?
Avatar n tn What are the withdrawal symptoms from Hydrocodone and how long will they last? I've been taking 1 or 2 10-325s a day for about a year for knee pain and quit a few days ago. I'm suffering from nausea that lasts from the time I wake up in the morning until about 12:00 noon. And I still don't feel well even then. I would really appreciate this information, as I'm starting to think there is something seriously wrong with me. Thank you!
Avatar f tn t start feeling real effects until day 2-5. No sleep, diarrhea, cramps, cravings, etc..though from methadone withdraw. I had my Dr. PX Soma for leg cramps and something to help you sleep. Talk to your Dr. today if you have only been off methadone 1 day. Days 2-5 are hell. Do you have someone helping you? How long were you on Methadone? and how many mgs? I MAKING IT AN SO WILL YOU! ASK ME ANY ?
Avatar f tn Unfortunately it is normal. It takes 60 to 90 days to fully detox from methadone. I'm on day 48 and I still suffer. I wake up every morning with diarrhea and a weak stomach. I have discomfort in my legs but I have been able to sleep the past 3 nights. It does get better even if its small progress. You've come to far. Hang tight. And don't give up. You didn't just use for 38 days, its going to take a little longer. But you got this!!!! Hold on. And talk to Gnarly_1.
Avatar f tn Only slow tapering at a rate of 5-10mg/month which can be supported by a good Vitamins and Mineral supplement and most importantly Clonidine and possibly a bit of carefully monitored Klonopin (a broad spectrum anti-depressant can also be of use in many cases) is going to give you anything coming close to a significantly reduced pain and anxiety withdrawal from methadone. Even a bit of oral marijuana can help, I say oral to eliminate the lung damage from smoking it.
Avatar m tn then on and off dilauded several times thereafter. then was on methadone for almost three years(80-120mg/day in later stage) and quit cold turkey. i had been clean for over three years and started taking care of my health. diet and exercise were my new addiction. i'm in it on my own, i have no one to work out with and nobody gives a sh*t about their health around here. my work schedule began to invade my home life to the point where i could not work out nor could i diet properly.
Avatar f tn My MD concurs and said I am tolerant to current dose and experiencing early withdrawal, i.e. Diarrhea, Increased Pain, restless legs and sleeplessness. She does not endorse tapering until I'm stabilized. She added 10mg to stop the withdrawal and has referred me to Pain Rehabilitation Clinic. I hate adding 10mg but completely exhausted from being sick every day. Definitely need assistance at Pain Clinic.
Avatar f tn In some instances, replacement medications like buprenorphine or methadone may be used to aid the withdrawal process on a longer-term basis. The use of any medication is determined on an individual basis. Additionally, psychological support from therapists, nurses, and other staff members, can radically help clients during the detox process.
Avatar m tn that made it hard for me but everyone is different I woludent go to the E/R there is not much they can do for you there you just have to let it run it coerce....methadone withdrawals come in waves one min your fine then 5 min later your in hard withdrawal it is very cyclic also just when you think you got it beat it comes back with a vengeance keep posting for support and let us know what symptoms are bothering her we have a lot of home cures keep us posted I will check back later..
Avatar f tn Well, "detox" means both. It's the pills leaving but also the whole detox process, which can be long for something like methadone. Methadone doesn't just "GO!" It kinda seeps out slowly like sludge! LOL With something like percocet, it's gone in about 72 hours. I've been drug tested 80 or less hours after my last dose of a regular opiate, and it didn't even show up in my blood or urine. Benzo are longer to leave too.
