I cannot say how oxycodone will make you feel in comparison with methadone. I can however, share that in my experience, oxycodone is a much less debilitating medication. It causes less somnolence than methadone, and is not as effective as a pain medication.
For some who get great analgesia from methadone, other medications can help with the side effects. For example, I used ritalin for the years I was using methadone.
ve been taking methadone 10mg twice a day with oxycodone 10mg for breakthrough up to 3x daily. My wife was telling me she thought the methadone had been making me not care about life the way I did before being switched from morphine to methadone. I can tell you from research and experience that Methadone is sometimes prescribed along with moderate dosages of Oxycodone as an alternative to increasing the dosage of Oxycodone. Methadone acts as a potentiator, increasing the efficacy of the Oxycodone due to increased tolerance. I have been on the on all three medications with no issue for some time now.
I've been taking oxycodone mixed with methadone for the past year. It has recently become unavailable to me & I was forced to stop cold turkey. It's been 11 days without it now, & I've developed some issues over the past week. I can not sleep, day or night. I've gone through withdrawls before, but never had sleep issues. I'm tired, & I go to bed at a decent time (between 8-12 pm), but I just lie in bed with my eyes closed a night.
I am just confused because I have been doing a lot of online reading and it seems that people are saying that suboxone and methadone are HARDER to get off of (even with tapering) than oxycodone itself.
So WHY are there these treatments? Why aren't doctors just giving us help with weaning off oxycodone?
The problem is your primary -- they're not trained to deal with high doses like this. You'll need to find a pain management specialist to rethink your opioids. Your huge tolerance to oxycodone will not be helped by additional oxycodone. A real pain doctor might rotate you to another opioid where you'd get more relief with a lower dose.
You also could use alternatives in treating your back pain -- PT, interventional pain management, a pain psychologist.
I've been on methadone/oxycodone 15mg for 3 yrs for back surgery and ddd in my neck with osteoarthritis in my hip/kneeand ankle. I came off my oxygen in may 2018 and became very depressed. can I switch back to oxygen and eliminate the methadone?

i dont know what to do i understand that no matter if im on oxycodone or methadone my baby can withdrawl off both.my question is if i slowly taper myself off of the oxycodone n make it so i only have to take 2 a day would it b safer to stay on the oxycodone or to get on methadone?im also conserned about switching my meds while i am pregnant..i know this question is all over the place but thats how i feel..
ve taken 60 mg before except I did not take the methadone at the same time.But, only 60 mg did the trick, with methadone in my system, but not taken at the same time.
How close am I to overdosing? What IS the deadly combo? I just know this: 70 mg of methadone is great for my feet. But my shoulder? Doesn't touch that pain. It's acute. Now what?
I have been thinking about this and am wondering if maybe I am going to get away with not having those cravings etc because methadone did nothing for me except help with the pain , I never got a "high" off it , nor was I looking for one. I see people posting about their " drug of choice", methadone is not my drug of choice, I hate it with a passion, it is evil!
Methadone is not used as much these days to treat pain. My father has been on it for over 15 years. He suggests going another route. I am on Fentanyl 100mcg with Oxycodone 15mg tablets (x2 every 4-6 as needed for breakthrough pain). This combination seems to work well for me. I have had ankle fusion surgery and have Chronic Pain in my lumbar spine along with Face Joint syndrome.
s a little strange if you did not try any other medications and they put on Methadone to begin with. Did you discuss that with the doctor? Methadone builds up in the system very quickly in some people. I just started taking it 2 weeks ago. I was very weak, very sleep. My blood pressure is normally low but it dropped to 115/50. The Methadone built up so quickly in my system. I had to drop to 1/2 pill at a time. It can suppress your breathing but only at higher does. Be careful with it.
yes but only for less 5 days i came off of oxycodone and I was clean for 2 weeks then I found some methadone i had hidden I toke it friday sat sunday then I took oxycodone on mon and tues I tried to take suboxtone wed and I felt like crap so I took more methadone yesterday and this morning 20 milligrams do you know how long it take to get adicted to methadone
