methadone vs oxy

It was for pain, and when I got to broke for the oxy my Dr. switched me to methadone. It really helped with the pain and I was able to taper to a much lower dose than I had been on in years and years. I have quite a few posts on here about what my experience has been and can't stand the thought of typeing it all again. If you click on someones name I'm pretty sure you can go to their page and see all the posts they have submitted. This site is wonderfull and can help alot.

She is telling me that she is trying to kick this addiction, and going to the methadone clinic daily? Could she be mixing oxy and methadone together ? what signs should i look for? Do hospital rehab programs work for this addiction ? any info is appreciated..

What do you mean by if you go higher you will go through wd? i have been clean also since on methadone well I tried oxy and it did nothing not even a little buzz so its pointless. i used to snort the 80 mg oxycotin and the oxycodone's too the wd was a ***** on that I hear its worse on methadone. Do you know if thats true even if you taper slowley til your off? Do you also get the downer feeling from suboxone like methadone? or do you feel nothing? what was your energy like on it?

By law you can't take pain killer like oxy and be in a methadone program. Benzos either. Since methadone is a pain killer , why don't you try not taking it? Since you are on methadone program you must have issues with use. Oxy is addicting and abused by many too. You can 't do both. They can kick you out of the program if you continue the oxy and test positive when they pee test you.

my husband was told to take 10mg methadone 3x a day along with the 160mg of oxy for the first three days until the methadone started working and then to taper off the oxy and onto the ultram. So the questions are: is taking this much narcotics safe? do you think this dosage of methadone is sufficient at the beginning to replace the oxy for pain control? is it ok for him to start using the ultram as he is tapering off the oxy (to be taking all three drugs for a period)?

s they are going to put me on Methadone on Monday. I know nothing about this Methadone and I read all different things on the net. Anyway I'm in Australia, how does all this work , what happens on the first day etc, What will it feel like, will I w/d from the tablets and feel sick. Any help would be great guys.

if youve read my other posts you know i have some pretty horrible insomnia and im pretty deep into oxy abuse. ive heard about methadone even seen it on friends. im wondering sinse i dont have a doctor or medical insurance how would i go about getting it. from what i know about it its pretty good at helping you avoid withdrawls. is methadone a smart way to quit? is it safer then taken lots of oxies all day?

Um ok methadone is not way worse to get off of then oxy the withrawls from oxy is way worse then methadone I have done it a couple of times so good luck with all of that ...

Being that you're already on Methaone; I'd keep tapering from there. Detox is detox...it's all crappy! Do you know how much Oxy you'd have to take to equal 60mg of Methadone if that's where you're comfortable?? A lot... Taper slowly over time and drop tiny amounts of Methadone at a time.Gnarly will be here soon to offer more advice. Good luck!!

Givin the choice between coming off oxy. and going onto methadone I would just suffer!! Its a lot more pain once you realize that the withdraw off methadone is 5X greater than withdraw of Oxy.....

two days of methadone , not long enough to get addicted physically to methadone and have to go through a horrible detox but have it hold me while oxy gets out of system, hence cutting a couple days out of oxy detox. does anyone understand? the meth will hold me for the first couple days of not using oxy but not doing enough meth to get physical withdrawls from meth, kind of like a forced taper because of the half life of meth, what do yall think>?

I've never used methadone but as it is an opiate and those were my DOC, I would not take them to aid in my wd's as I think they might just prolong it. Were they prescribed by your doctor to help you through this or did you get them elsewhere? If they were not prescribed, your best bet is to flush them now and get these wd's over with. You are already on day 2 and the worst is just about to hit. Let those days pass without the methadone and you probably won't regret it.

Also, will I feel just the Oxy withdrawal or will the Methadone still be lingering around in me to cause withdrawal from that as well?

Okay so I had this problem with Oxy and a few other scripts, and I thought going to the clinic was the answer, but after only a month of going here, I have realized that the only reason that these people are open is to make money!! So now i signed a thing to lower me but even now everythings such a hassel and after only one month its effecting my whole life , so can i just quit cold turkey before I get sucked in even more or what? any advise please help!!! asap!!

Hey jared. As long as you have breathe there is hope. You just need to ask GOD to give you a mustard seed of faith. You are only 20 yrs old. You have a wonderful,full life ahead of you.you need to try again with all you have in you to get clean. This addiction is a monster. Once it has its claws in you it could keep you bound for 10,20,30 yrs believe I know.my husband just came off another 14 yr. Relapse.first he took morphine pills for 5 yrs and said he would just do methadone for a yr.

If she's taking methadone and oxy she could very easily od. Bc when ur on methadone and u take an oxy u won't feel the oxy bc of the methadone won't allow u to so then u take mor of the oxy to try and get a buzz, on another note do something for the child. It sounds to me that the child is n a very dangerous place. That was one incident ( the child bn out in the street like that) how many other dangerous situations was that mid in that u don't know about?

I can write you more later, but a five year addict could definately be a candidate for Methadone. There are plenty of Oxy abusers on Methadone. Taking them at the same time is a waste of money, as the Methadone has a very strong affinity for your opiate receptors in the brain, and will tie them all up, allowing a only a very small amount of the Oxy to bind. IF you are dead set on using a taper medication, I personally would go with Suboxone instead of Methadone for reason I can explain later.

If the question is whether you should switch from Oxy to Methadone, then yes, the doctor is crazy -- that is if you really want to quit. Methadone addiction is a fate worse than he!! according to those who have been on it and come off of it.

I have helped a lot of people do this and you like the 3rd one that got cought in the oxy/methadone trap...its not that bad going off the oxy first the methadone will cary you you ..it wont feel great but it is doable ....I can help you taper off the methadone as quickly and painlessly as possible just let me know if you need some help ...ILL check back tomorrow for your reply good luck and God bless.....

t be to bad from the methadone but you will pay the pied piper with oxy withdrawals when you quit the methadone at least thats my experience walking this out with people who have tried methadone for a short time...
