Avatar f tn I have stumbled accross a tramdol scrip is it possiable to get offf these blues with them I also have access to methadone does anyone no why my tolerance is so amazinley high and can i use tramadol and methadone to get through withdrawls? please help i want to live again also what i put my family through is a sin!!!!
Avatar m tn With opiates, you build up a tolerance and soon the perks wont work. Whereas methadone you don’t build a tolerance for it and it helps with pain. I’m going to have pain for the rest of my life and I am only 25, already had surgery, which helped with the nerve pain but now i just have chronic pain and aches. My doctor even said that I wouldn’t be fully pain-free. What’s wrong with being on methadone instead of opiates especially if it helps with pain?
434196 tn?1206385870 If you wanted to get high on oxycontin or even street heroin then the best way is to reduce your methadone dose to under 35mg but remember its long half life will keep your tolerance up for a few days more than you would assume.
Avatar m tn t feel it at all, is there a reason for this or has my tolerance just gotten this high and if so how much would I need to take? 20mg ? I am on about 90 mg of liquid methadone too, so I am confused why this isn't affecting me.
Avatar f tn As with heroin and all other opiates, methadone tolerance and methadone dependence usually develop with repeated doses. Tolerance to Methadone administered in a pain-control program usually occurs during the first few weeks of use; whereas respiratory depression, sedation, and nausea can be seen immediately.
Avatar m tn the doc took me off the poercoets..said methadone will be the only thing that will help me..is 10mgs 3aday too much to start with..but I've been on and off methadone in the last 4 months..HELP???????????
1087566 tn?1282448730 Hi, I was wondering how the methadone has worked for you. I have just moved from oxycontin to methadone. So far it seems to work better for me, I haven't had much pain, it's been less than 1 week.
Avatar f tn Hello, I have been on Methadone for a year now for my tolerance for pain medication is way to high, I have to take like 20 10mg oxycodones to even match 1 10 mg methadone. I dont understand, I had a baby by C section and they put me on a diladid pump and that wouldnt even help me with my pain. I can go though 150 Percs or Vics in 10 days to just get the pain managable. I dont understand what is going on here. why is my tolerance so dang high. The docs in the hospital cant even understand.
Avatar m tn I have been on a high dose of Methadone for a number of years for Chronic pain. I go to a clinic but recently asked my doctor if he would take over my care and switch me from going to the clinic, over to a time released morphine pill I can take once or twice a day. He won't write me Methadone and is reluctant to do it at all because he's never had a patient that he's had to transfer from methadone to a morphine pill before .
Avatar m tn Suboxone contains buprenorphine, a very potent opiate with a flat dose/response relationship. The result is that with Suboxone you are either 'on' it or 'off' it, rather than being able to regulate the dose. 'On' Suboxone means an opiate effect equal to about 30-40 mg of methadone per day.
Avatar f tn The only thing negative about opiate pain treatment is the tolerance and dependence, and for some the addiction. Methadone is one of those drugs that can be given safely at high doses as your tolerance dictates. In fact, I'm certain thats why it's given to heroin addicts, (I've read some addicts can receive up to 130+mg in a single dose.) Thanks for letting me chime in.
Avatar n tn Methadone produces no serious side effects, although some patients experience minor symptoms such as constipation, water retention, drowsiness, skin rash, excessive sweating, and changes in libido. Once methadone dosage is adjusted and stabilized or tolerance increases, these symptoms usually subside. From what I was able to read, there are no real side effects of Methadone that would cause the issues you are experiencing. Hope this helps.
1549683 tn?1293990213 I got to a pretty high tolerance like you doing fentanyl patches about 20mg daily with 200mg methadone daily, half the methadone was off the street tho i only got my prescription up to 100. So at first the methadone alone was enough at like 50, then got up to 100, then got more off street while doing fentanyl, to keep up the tired feeling and being high. Eventually everything has to come down. I always felt tired taking opiates until you get so used to withdrawling that opiates give you energy.
Avatar m tn If you are still worried, I would look up the half life of 30 mg of methadone. To my knowledge Methadone is stronger longer acting than Oxycodone. Since you were not on it long that is the way I would decide.
Avatar m tn Methadone has a 36hour 1/2 life so about 3 days you should be ok on the switch perks are a lot ezer to detox off of then methadone...
Avatar f tn Hey All, I am on 85mg methadone a day for oxy addiction and I have constant tooth pain. My teeth are pretty rotten from years of neglect. I am seeing a dentist now but repairs will take awhile. I need to know what will work for pain for me. I have a very high tolerance for opiates. I have had a drug called "toradol" but made me very sick. Any help will be appreciated. Thank you.
Avatar n tn my brother took 125mgs of liquid methadone and also uses heroin he died couldthis be a overdose ?
Avatar m tn Jake, go ahead and start a new thread with your question. As for 'addicted 73', I have strong opinions from my own experiences with addiction and from what I see with patients.... opinions that you may resist hearing. I would be very surprised if a person taking a couple hundred of OC per day could leave the addiction behind.
Avatar n tn looking for a maintenance drug ? Methadone is a huge commitment. tolerance grows fast. there are alternative treatments for pain that are non narcotic I hope that these options have been bought up.. I wish you well.
Avatar m tn i asked you to elaborate on the theraputic tolerance vs tolerance to overdose since i have never heard of it being explained like that and i gave the example of a methadone patient. can you elaborate on the difference since you are the expert?
Avatar n tn During this 5 years i think that I was always in a borderline state of W/D, being on that low dose for so long and never raising the dosage.Surely my tolerance to methadone increased.People who go up and up are staying ahead of the increased tolerance, thus when they taper they feel the W/D more. Any one who has experience with this drug, please let me know what you opinion is.Or any one else too, they all work in a similar fashion.
Avatar f tn t recommend it long term to anyone I started out on a small dose to kill back pain but eventually built up a tolerance to it and wound up at 150ml at a methadone clinic my body built up a tolerance to that and it was no longer killing off the pain so all I was doing was feeding a huge addiction thats where one of the big issues comes in trying to get off the stuff I tapered for 8 1/2mo to get off and to say the least it was difficult sometimes it seamed as if it was going to be impossible but by
Avatar f tn I am on 85mg of methadone a day for oxy addiction. I am having constant pain from my teeth because of existing problems. Dentist is looking after me but it will take some time due to money, time, etc. Wht pain med would work for me? I have a pretty high tolerance to opiates.
Avatar m tn Now i am off the oxycodone as well, for three days now. However, I was started on 10mg of methadone 3x daily. The first 2 days were really rough, today seems to be the best so far.....Ok,so my question is, if I were to just stop the methadone right now, would I have horrible wd's? I have read that methadone is a nightmare to get off of,and dont want to go down that road...so im wondering if I can just quit all drugs all together right now,it would be wonderful !!!!!
Avatar f tn She went to a doctor to help her quit. He gave her methadone. He gave her 70 5mg pills, which she took in about 2 weeks, or 5 per day. when she ran out, she began withdrawel far worse than from than from the hydrocodone. Can she really becme physically addicted this fast? If so, how long will wd's last after taking it for such a short period?
