Avatar n tn can my gp prescribe something for my cocodamol addiction (withdral) like methadone or somethng to get through the pain and symtoms?
1311475 tn?1274198780 I am now taking 60 mg. of methadone, trying to get off of the methadone to become eligible for other pain treatment. I didn't know where to ask this question. The 1st reason I started taking the methadone was due to heroin abuse, which I started to kill the pain from a car accident. I had dabbled in heroin use prior to my car accident. But have been clean for many years now, thanks to the methadone.

1264367 tn?1408104163 I have gastroparesis, and GERD, and am on methadone maintenance. I noticed I started having problems as soon as I started the Methadone Clinic, 3 yrs ago. I recently had an endoscopy and waiting on the biopsy results. I'm so sick of not being able to eat anything. I'm living off of oatmeal and can't over eat. But it's not over eating because I've been starving. I can only eat a small bowl of oatmeal before I take my methadone and then another small one for lunch.
Avatar m tn ve only been off of methadone about 2 1/2 months. Can anyone tell me how long they suffered methadone withdrawal symptoms after a long methadone addiction? Should I continue to stay on the four mg. of suboxone until they subside, or are the symptoms actually being caused by the suboxone? Needless to say, I don't sleep much at night and it drives me nuts. I do take clonodine every night and it does help.
Avatar m tn First off, congrats on your sobriety!! Such a huge accomplishment so be very proud of yourself. For many, the energy is one of the last things to return. For some it can take a month or more to feel 100% back to normal. I don't really have any experience with methadone except for what I have read on here. Methadone has such a long half life the withdrawals from it can take quite a bit longer than other short acting opiates.
1434665 tn?1289855538 last time I took methadone 20 mg was monday, August 30. Took suboxone 4mg on sept 1 and then 4 mg on sept 2 in a.m. that was they last time anything was in my system. that's why my w/d symptoms were delayed I think. All my w/d symptoms started on friday, sept. 3. Today is the 7th.
Avatar f tn ve had long history of chronic pain and a pretty sucessful L4-5 surgery after drop foot due to herniations. I started having pretty sever symptoms again , spasm , twitching , breathing issues (smoker tho) numbness and atrophy and some blurry vision. Thought I had herniated disk again. Finally found hydromyelia in middle of back. Only think that helps is ibprofin and ice and my methadone. They have checked me for MS and ALS. I just had another MRI with contrast.
Avatar n tn he was first put on suboxone was on that for about a week and then switched to methadone---all done under care of doctors. i know the jerky movements are from withdrawl i always saw them when he was using but these are like full body would almost think seizure like movements---scares me and him. i personally think it is just the chemicals in his brain getting back to normal but am not positive. he was taking i'd say 300mg of oxycontin daily snorting them. thanks for the help.
Avatar m tn t have any withdrawal but I hated the way the methadone made me feel. I have a few methadone pills left but I do not want to take them- I would rather have the withdrawals. I also should add I have ativan to take for anxiety, I do not take them often but if I need them, I have them along with ambien to help me sleep. I am the last person anyone would suspect of this and so ashamed I am even in this position. Anyone have any advice or insight on what I should expect?
Avatar f tn Please fill me in on all the withdrawal symptoms of methadone. I'm only on 40 mgs a day but after being off it for only two days, I'm so sick and depressed!!! Is depression normal? I mean, I cannot stop crying!!
Avatar m tn I just started the triple treatment yesterday. I have been on methadone maintenance for 15 months and from what I've been reading the Incivek somehow uses your methadone faster and you will need a dosage change. Has anyone had this same issue. My gastro said not to worry about this issue too much. Just told me to keep track of symptoms but the side effect symptoms are the same as opiate withdrawal symptoms. How do I know what is is a side effect of?
Avatar f tn Could these symptoms be related to methadone? I have another friend who has lost a great deal of his eye function as well, and he also suspects methadone may be the cause. Any thoughts?
Avatar m tn 90 days is a common turning point, but it doesn't stop there. Yes, methadone can take a long time to recover from. I was on twice as much as you and it took me 10 months to feel good. It is rough, but totally worth it. Hang in there. Are you taking vitamins and getting enough electrolytes and amino acids? That really helps. What are your other symptoms, maybe we can help with supplements to get you through.
Avatar f tn In the past, mothers on methadone have attempted to reduce their methadone dosage over the course of a pregnancy to spare the unborn child methadone withdrawal symptoms after birth.
Avatar n tn Once methadone dosage is adjusted and stabilized or tolerance increases, these symptoms usually subside. From what I was able to read, there are no real side effects of Methadone that would cause the issues you are experiencing. Hope this helps.
Avatar m tn i have been off methadone (40mg pr day)(was on it for 5 yrs) for 2 months now and still cant slep more than 2hrs at a time 2 times a 24hr period. also have other dt symptoms. is this normal? and my pain dr said i now have rls, is it possible to get rls from methadone? dr said i cant still have dt symptoms and wants me to try other opiates for my pain but im not sure if its a good idea yet?
Avatar m tn I've been addicted to hydrocodone. Last time I touched hydro was last sat round noon. I woke up Sunday, hurting like hell, so I took four tramadol. Took the edge off. I decided to quit CT. So Sunday night I took 20mg of methadone to mitigate the W/D symptoms. It's now Tuesday afternoon and I can def feel the W/D symptoms but the methadone seems to be covering it up descent.
Avatar f tn thank you so much! hes really nervous about the whole time. im just glad he finally told me so we can figure it out...when we talked to some clinics they were saying 10 days for detox then a 28 day program. kinda freaked us out. then reading some of the withdrawl symptoms he could have. It's hard to tell if he would have that bad of symptoms when he was taking such a low dose.
Avatar f tn hi-- i have noticed a change in my sleep patterns lately. i have always (as long as i can remember) have had panic attacts at night when trying to sleep, but my symptoms now are much more drastic. first let me tell you that i take 60 ,mg of methadone/day--due to a methadone program--i have been on the program for 7 months now. i also still drink alcohol, almost everyday. these symptoms i have now have been getting worse in the last 6-10 weeks.
4832551 tn?1359761830 With methadone, it is recommended that you take it as prescribed and to avoid discontinuing the medicine suddenly to avoid unpleasant withdrawal symptoms. If the symptoms persist and your present treatment is not working well, it is best that you discuss this with your attending for proper management. Take care and do keep us posted.
