methadose

Avatar m tn ve seen of fentanyl detox and my own year long, slow methadone recovery, I think fentanyl and methadone are only different in dosage. The full synthetic nature and side effects of both methadone and fentanyl make them very close tie for the worst detox ever. As I vomit and shat myself in my yard from methadone detox, I remember wishing I was a heroin or any other kind of addict. Anyway, mute point, but wanted to share. How much and how long methadone use have you got under your belt bullseye?
Avatar m tn Some of those symptoms may be similar to withdrawal side effects of Incivek changing the effect of Methadone, so it may be hard to differentiate. And then there is the psychological component of both triple tx and Methadone to consider as you experience side effects. I would also encourage you to write down your side effects so your doctor can help you determine what's what.
1948474 tn?1329154264 hi and thanks for responding!! he is a drug addict...opiates and xanax. he's at 90mg now and they started him at 30mg a month ago. i just hate feeling that I think he's high if these are just side effects from the methadone. I'm very frustrated.
Avatar n tn When methadone is taken under medical supervision, long-term maintenance causes no adverse effects to the heart, lungs, liver, kidneys, bones, blood, brain, or other vital body organs. Methadone produces no serious side effects, although some patients experience minor symptoms such as constipation, water retention, drowsiness, skin rash, excessive sweating, and changes in libido. Once methadone dosage is adjusted and stabilized or tolerance increases, these symptoms usually subside.
1050179 tn?1253899186 I cannot find it.This physician felt that methadone was the best opiate for chronic pain with the least side effects. I will keep looking but it has not come up on my goggle search. I assume because I can't remember the name of the physician. It should be in MH archives as there was a discussion on this articles some time ago. I will try to find the article when I have more time and get back to you.
5541974 tn?1369548131 Yes its used when someone is recovering from opiate use but some of the side effects are the same. Decreased sex drive is one of the side effects. Just support him on his recovery. That is the best thing you can do for him. Addiction effects everyone not just the addicts. That's the sad part.
1502361 tn?1290540230 I understand the fear of getting caught in the methadone trap. My philosophy regarding methadone maintenance is more pragmatic than most and recognises the fact that many people, tired of active addiction but not prepared to commit to complete abstinence, require a 3rd option to fill the void until an informed and rational choice can be made. I see you have come to a similar conclusion but i fear the way it is being implemented is flawed.
662972 tn?1270166301 weight gain, thristy, stomach acid ( have take anti acid daily), monthly cycle is off Hope hear from you any info always helps
Avatar f tn It could be a side effect of the methadone or even an allergic type reaction to it. I remember when I took Macrobid (antibiotic) for a urinary infection, I had a high fever (102.3) every time I would take it, so I called my doctor's office and they told me to stop it immediately because I was having an allergic reaction to it. As it turned out, my father had had this same type of reaction to it a couple years before.
Avatar m tn I am about to go on methadone maintenance, but I am wondering why people always seem to want to come off of it (detox) and not take it any longer?
Avatar m tn He went on methadone maintenance in July and it has taken him to his worst depths. He is still shooting drugs, is addicted to XANAX and anxiety pills. He will take a whole bottle at a time and is also drinking regularly. He has been hospitalized twice in the last month, picked up by police multiple times and has been near death at times. He is completely out of his mind.
Avatar f tn doesn’t relieve pain well? Intolerable side effects (what)? Difficulty in getting to the correct dose? Etc.
Avatar m tn My maintenance clinic knows also, ofcourse~!. I fear taking the lortabs while im on methadone, not the addiction factor because the methadone will block the euphoric effects, but still allow the analgesia that will be much more than just tylenol or ibuprofen alone.will, the 2 together make me really tired orgroggy,I didnt ask the doctor, I still have a guilty conceince from the abuse of pills. Can any of you guys tell me, if you think its gonna work out fine. or any cautions.
Avatar f tn i am on methadone maintenance for opiate addiction, if methadone is also an opiate blocker what prescription meds will give me relief from my pain? i mean, do i take higher doses of opiate to get relief from my pain or is there a certain pain med i need to take while on methadone to get relief from my pain? please HELP!!!!
Avatar f tn Hi there. Are you under the care of an OBGYN right now? If so, what do they have to say about taking subs while pregnant? I don't know a lot about it, but I have heard that Methadone seems to be the preferred maintenance drug during pregnancy. That doesn't necessarily mean it's right for you though.
Avatar n tn Hello Dee, There are some recent studies on the effects on bone density and opiates, including Methadone. It is a fact that many opiates effect the cells that repair bones as well as the formation of new bone cells. I have included exerts form 2 studies in this response to your question. They are as follows: "Opiates—including codeine, heroin and morphine—can impair the functioning of cells that repair bones. These drugs can also impair the formation of new bones.
Avatar m tn If she was 1 year clean then why is she going on methadone? Methadone is a maintenance drug for heroin users but if she is clean she should not need to go onto it. You have to decide what is best for you and we cannot tell you what to do. I would tell her though that methadone is the last thing that she will want to go onto. It works well for heroin addicts short term but if she uses it longer than a few months or a year she will have a heck of a time getting off of it....
Avatar f tn Constipation and Sweating Constipation and sweating are two of the most commonly experienced side effects of methadone maintenance treatment. Methadone users can reduce the severity of constipation by eating a high-fiber diet, getting regular exercise, and making a concerted effort to avoid dehydration. Those who experience excessive sweating while on methadone seem to sweat heavily regardless of the dose taken, and do not develop a tolerance to the effect.
Avatar f tn You need to talk to the clinic and your ob about steps to take to get off the drug. Methadone causes serious dependency and side effects. Good luck! I was 19 when I kicked heroin and oxys (2001) and have never looked back. A good detox might help too.
Avatar f tn I am not familiar with possible side effects of methadone. There are sleep disorders that can cause similar symptoms, but with taking such a serious med, I would want the prescribing doctor to know these symptoms. Since you're in a program, they should be knowledgeable about any possible connection. When I was having movement issues at night I had a sleep study and it turned out I have a limb movement disorder.
Avatar f tn I would stick to your sub methadone is a ticket to hell not only the withdrawals but all the side effects trust me I was on it for 6 1/2yrs and payed an awful price....noding out at the most inappropriate times...not being able to go to the bathroom....a sexless marriage for many of those years. I gained 50 lb and what im telling you is the norm for methadone...
Avatar n tn When i met him(1990) he had already started to slow down(just weekends). I really need to know what are the most common side effects that everyone goes threw. Please i am scared. 230262 tn?1316645934 I was induced at the standard 30mgs and by the time I was at my peak I was at 700mgs daily. And this was for maintenance, not pain control. The side effects even at low doses were aweful for me. I gained over 100lbs, was always tired and sleeping, had horrible constipation, stomach cramps, and nausea... even in the early years of treatment. To top all of this off, my cravings never really went away, hey just turned into cravings for more methadone.
1264367 tn?1408104163 I have gastroparesis, and GERD, and am on methadone maintenance. I noticed I started having problems as soon as I started the Methadone Clinic, 3 yrs ago. I recently had an endoscopy and waiting on the biopsy results. I'm so sick of not being able to eat anything. I'm living off of oatmeal and can't over eat. But it's not over eating because I've been starving. I can only eat a small bowl of oatmeal before I take my methadone and then another small one for lunch.
