Avatar f tn My son has now been off methadone for 103 days(after two years/ high dose 90mgs). During that time he has detoxed on Suboxone tapering from 16mgs to .25mgs. He is now is off two days, on one- effectively cutting his dose to 1/12 mg a day. He had virtually no WD during his taper to .25 and has had some mild symptoms since he started skipping days. He continues to go to work and is completely functional. He hopes to be done by the end of July.
Avatar m tn I have been off methadone for 18 days cold turkey, i have been reading the experiances of others and although my own has not been as bad im wondering, Has anyone out ther only taken 5 to 10 mgs a day and had a long harsh recovery? I keep waiting to wake up and not feel cold, or chilled then hot, 18 days i thought i should be over it by now!
Avatar n tn I think it is so very sad that a doctor would give someone methadone to get off of vic's. methadone I think is one of the hardest drug's to kick. Please start to cut down on you're dose asap and I hope you have good luck finding another job stay strong..
Avatar f tn so im about to lose ALL take-homes. Good news is that this is the incentive i need to get off these liquid handcuffs. The other good news is that Welbutrin and Triliptal have helped this addicted brain so much! Im not obsessing about stuff so much. Aleve helps my back aches. Wish me luck! Every time I reach for a pain pill im going to remember what a pain going to this clinic was.
11532111 tn?1421549858 Is shouldn't be as bad or as long as methadone but it will still be withdrawal and you will have all the symptoms. Can you taper down?
Avatar n tn Methadone is a monster to quit. How much were you doing? The bad news here is that the methadone can take months to get past. And researchers say they cannot differentiate between withdrawals from 30mg or 3 mg of methadone. Good news is that I usually give a worst case scenario, That way you can say it wasnt as bad as you thought. Look up sadinmichigan and access her homepage. She has a lot of good solid info that you can check out.
Avatar f tn I just had to give my fellow methadone friends some positive news, that yes you can get off methadone, as today I went to pick up my last months supply & spoke with a aquintence of mine who has been on methadone who happened to be coming in to pay a over due bill & she has been methadone free with no relapse & no suboxone for 3 months! Although not all of us will have the same effects coming off of it, it can be done, & is done everyday by thousands of people.
1800740 tn?1324237171 Went to sub dr. today. Good news - he says with my insurance subs will be $50 a month. I have to pick a day for induction. He says the longer I go without methadone before "induction day" the easier it will be. My question (that I forgot to ask him) is can I take anything like Valium or nausea pills those 3-4 days while I'm going without methadone before my induction? Or will this make me sicker on induction day?
3688816 tn?1358475297 so i just got really bad news tht my nana is about to pass away.. im trying to stay busy and keep my mind off of it but the onlt thing i can think about is how I DONT want to feel this right now!! the addict in me is saying you kno what will numb tht pain and make u not feel, but me being sober for 158 days i keep saying it will b there when im not high then ill have two thing to b upset over 1 my nana and 2 relapsing. i just wish i could get my mind off of all this.
Avatar m tn I suggest getting off the methadone and switching to Suboxone. But caution, with methadone in your system, you can have serious withdrawals and severe allergic reactions. You would have to have the methadone completely out of your system first. Methadone withdrawal is the worst ever. Every heroin addict I've ever met in my past days in rehab, all said that methadone was way worse coming off of. I'm telling you, my family is on methadone, I used to be on it, get off of it a.s.a.p.!
Avatar m tn I also hate to give you bad news, but I had methadone show up almost 3 weeks after I took it. You might want to look that up.
182884 tn?1259312906 I saw the Neurosurgeon on Monday the 20th, after waiting 7 months for an appt. It was not good news, my back is worse than I thouoght and I waited too long for anything to be done. The dr. said Workmans Comp took too long to get me in and the calvacade of events and everything has deteriorated badly where he can't fix anything. He said it all amounts to the fact I need a whole new back and that is not possible. I had one bad disk to start with L4-L5 with a herniation.
Avatar m tn sounds like bad news if your finding syringes around the house dont put up blinders take it for face value he is using again and that on top of methadone is very dangerous he is using to get high methadone wont get you high unless abused if he is giong to the clinic they will ketch him sooner or later with a dirty U/A they will give him a chance to clean up then boot him out if he dont it is time to call the clinic and talk to his counselor they will get to the bottom of this mean wile pray he
Avatar m tn elvis ,how much methadone are coming off of I have heard with methadone anywhere from 3 to 5 days to make sure you don't have precipitated Withdrawls you also want to be down between 30 -20 mgs of meth before taking sub
Avatar f tn I have been on methadone for over a year now. I got methadone for severe knee pain. I got on the clinic because I work construction and I had no insurance and I just couldn't afford any doctors. But now I have insurance and I can not find a doctor.
Avatar m tn Finally went to the addiction psychiatrist today. Went mediocre. He referred me to his partner to switch from methadone to subs. What am I going into? I switched to subs yrs ago but it wasn't the same. I have been on methadone for 5 yrs...from 90mg now down to 25.....how hard of a switch is this? Please ppl who know.
Avatar f tn Perkl w/ds are nothing and i mean NOTHING compared to whats in store for you if you do not quit now with the methadone. Methadone is a very powerfull drug--much more so that loratabs or perks--the w/ds last week and even months compared to days on the perks.
Avatar n tn For those who haven't read my posts, I've been taking Methadone since last August. Good news is that it's kept me completely clean from other opiates... Bad news is that it has now gotten it's "hook" in me, as I was warned. For months I was taking 10-20mg, but after some typical life problems it's crept up to 50mg-70mg for the last 4 weeks. The 'druggie' behavior is basically back. I can admit it.
Avatar n tn Both of these treatments are harm reduction or replacement therapy. I think methadone is better for longer periods of time and sub may be better for short detox but a lot of people would argue with me. I don't like sub for maintenece and it can be problamtic if someone has an emergency. Also it's not as good of a painkiller as methadone and doesn't satisfy a hard core addict as well as methadone. I feel that both drugs are overused and very addictive.
Avatar n tn I am not sure about statistics or medical news.... I am on methadone and go to a clinic...I have seen many people that were pregnant at the clinic and spoke to some of them. I got to know this one lady well and she was 27 and had been addicit to oxycotion for yrs due to medial problems and when they found out she was pregnant they sent her to be put on methadone. She done methadone the whole time she was pregnant.
Avatar n tn I've been in a Methadone Maintenance program for 9 years. I'm on my first month of taking 30mg per day. I also take 30mg of Temazepam at night for sleep. At the end of the month I plan on having the doctor in the program prescribe me Suboxone to get off the Methadone. My question is this: Is the Suboxone going to affect the Temazepam's effect? Sleeping is a problem for me, and without the Temazapam I doubt I'd get any sleep if Suboxone stopped the Temazepam from working.
Avatar m tn I have a question that I have always wondered about Methadone, but never wanted to ask a Dr. LOL. I understand that it comes in pill form and liquid form. What is the difference between the prescribing of it? Such as, why would a Dr. prescribe you the pill form instead of the liquid form, or why would they prescribe the liquid instead of the pill? I understand Hydrocodone comes the same way.
Avatar f tn So good news with some not so good yet. My baby has gone through today with 3 uses one of 100 and 2 of 80 (which might not seem that good to those who havent read previous post he was at 500-600 a day). Had a talk with me to prepare for the depression he is already starting to have. Bad news still using the points, talked to him about them but he just isn't there yet. I think he is just trying to do it all at the same time.
Avatar n tn I hate to be the bearer of bad news but there is nothing you can give him to stop the withdrawal. I would suggest he find a doctor that deals with addiction and go talk to him and maybe ask about a taper off of the methadone instead of just going cold turkey because nothing you can buy over the counter will stop withdrawal.
Avatar m tn We have a few people here who are trying to get off Methadone! Hope you will stick around and offer some advice and support! All the best!
1017452 tn?1254904998 My hubby's got terrible lower back pain. He says it aches and he feels like he needs to stretch it out but nothing helps. He's in his last week on methadone (1mg) and it's been like this for the last 4-6 months progressively getting worse as he reduces his dose. He didn't have back problems before. Is this just a symptom of w/d? He looks so damn uncomfortable in so many ways at the moment. But doing so freaking well regardless. thanks guys...
