Help with methadone maintenance I don't want to be tied up any more with my daily visits to my clinic. Just wanted to ask if anyone had any experience with switching methadone 95mg once daily, to fentanyl patch 100mcg Hour patch? or know the methadone mg fentanyl dose equivalents?

when someone is starting a methadone maintenance program, how long does it take or become stable? my boyfriend started about a month ago but has been changing mgs often. he says to stabilize himself.

He went on methadone maintenance in July and it has taken him to his worst depths. He is still shooting drugs, is addicted to XANAX and anxiety pills. He will take a whole bottle at a time and is also drinking regularly. He has been hospitalized twice in the last month, picked up by police multiple times and has been near death at times. He is completely out of his mind.

I am a 37 year old female, with the exception of the 4 years spent at SCI Muncy due to my addiction, I have been on Methadone Maintenance since 1993. Are there any doctors who can prescribe my daily dose as opposed to me going to the clinic?

I just started the triple treatment yesterday. I have been on methadone maintenance for 15 months and from what I've been reading the Incivek somehow uses your methadone faster and you will need a dosage change. Has anyone had this same issue. My gastro said not to worry about this issue too much. Just told me to keep track of symptoms but the side effect symptoms are the same as opiate withdrawal symptoms. How do I know what is is a side effect of?

I understand the fear of getting caught in the methadone trap. My philosophy regarding methadone maintenance is more pragmatic than most and recognises the fact that many people, tired of active addiction but not prepared to commit to complete abstinence, require a 3rd option to fill the void until an informed and rational choice can be made. I see you have come to a similar conclusion but i fear the way it is being implemented is flawed.

or even several times without/on my own//a drs advice and help by rx-ing safe drugs lke clonidine to help u thru it..sub and methadone are maintenance drugs..but both can also be used short term to help wds and possibly avoid addiction to the drug u r using to avoid wds..it can b a vicious circle..for sub there is a 21 day limit/and people will argue this limit as everyone is different..if u stay on either long term u still have to pay the price of wd from either drug..

Hello, I am looking for someone who is or has been in a methadone maintenance program while pregnant. I've clean and sober for awhile now but I'm still on methadone and now that I'm pregnant I can't get off of it. Just looking for some positive or useful knowledge. Thanks!

I used subs to get me off of methadone, so my opinion is biased, but I would use subs over methadone. I did a 20 day fast sub taper to avoid acute methadone withdrawal. Subs didn't get me high the way methadone did. Subs also prevent abuse, as they have a ceiling dose, meaning if you take more than 32 mg they don't have a stronger effect. The down side of long term sub use is the extra long half life.

I have gastroparesis, and GERD, and am on methadone maintenance. I noticed I started having problems as soon as I started the Methadone Clinic, 3 yrs ago. I recently had an endoscopy and waiting on the biopsy results. I'm so sick of not being able to eat anything. I'm living off of oatmeal and can't over eat. But it's not over eating because I've been starving. I can only eat a small bowl of oatmeal before I take my methadone and then another small one for lunch.

i am on methadone maintenance for opiate addiction, if methadone is also an opiate blocker what prescription meds will give me relief from my pain? i mean, do i take higher doses of opiate to get relief from my pain or is there a certain pain med i need to take while on methadone to get relief from my pain? please HELP!!!!

It sounds like a reasonable amount of time... In all honesty...i wouldnt make a date for sure..not something that can't be changed. Your not going to know for sure yourself until the day of. Just thinking about the methadone to suboxone transfer brings up a very bad memory of my transfer. I didn't know as much about maintenance drugs as i know now. I wish i knew then what i know now. I would never have this sick feeling in my stomach at the thought of my experience.

I don't know a lot about it, but I have heard that Methadone seems to be the preferred maintenance drug during pregnancy. That doesn't necessarily mean it's right for you though.

Some people will be on methadone maintenance for the rest of their lives. It enables them to live a normal productive life. My husband has been on methadone for about 13 years and is currently trying to taper off. No one would ever know he's on methadone. He doesn't feel high from the methadone. If your sister feels stable and ready to get off the methadone it won't be easy for her. It's got the worst, longest-lasting withdrawals of any drug I know of.

the reason i ask is because methadone is used as a maintenance program for someone who has been addicted to opiates.methadone is a opiate maintenance plan and keeps a level of opiates in your system. this allows people to to function and not always be chasing their next high. it is despensed at the clinic,and is legal. how much methadone is he currently on? has he been receivng any counseling and/or attending any support groups? working full time and exercising is wonderful.

The jail that I was at actually offered Methadone Maintenance, thank God. The kind Judge told me that my DTC counselor thought it necessary for me to start Methadone, and get to a "stable" dose before I was able to get out and go to rehab. A stable dose in jail is 30mg. They start you at 10mg, and by the time they start you, your symptoms are finally starting to waver.

How would I taper off these prescribed pain pills that I have been taking for 2 years? I live in Idaho, where there are no Methedone Maintenance programs permitted by law. My maintenance clinic knows also, ofcourse~!. I fear taking the lortabs while im on methadone, not the addiction factor because the methadone will block the euphoric effects, but still allow the analgesia that will be much more than just tylenol or ibuprofen alone.will, the 2 together make me really tired orgroggy,I didnt ask the doctor, I still have a guilty conceince from the abuse of pills. Can any of you guys tell me, if you think its gonna work out fine. or any cautions.
