HEY EVERYBODY How come no-one's talking about "LONG TERM EFFECTS" and how it AFFECTS you? (lol) THIS FORUM SAYS "LONG TERM EFFECTS" at the top. I wanna talk about long term effects, but it seems like everyone who succesfuly stops, ALSO STOPS COMING TO THIS WEB SITE! I'm guessing that this is the case because this "long term" forum seems to be full of people that are talking about being on their 3rd to 30th day of detox.
I have a few questions that would really help me cope with Subutex. I need a better understanding of it's long term effects. Original cause was a shoulder injury in 1997. eg. Chronic pain and depression. ( prior to Subutex, as mentioned below, I was on 400mg of Morphine, then 100mg of Methadone + Panediene Forte. 1. I've been taking Subutex for about 8 - 9 years, starting off with 28mgs and ending up on 4mg for the last 5 years. I have played a bit with dropping the dose to 3mg or 2mg.
Yes, the methadone will block the hydro. At least, they did for me. I would wait at least 24 from when ypou took the methadone. Not my business, but why go back on the hydro? The methadone should have helped w/the withdrawals some, so unless you need the hydro for legitimate pain, why travel that hydron road again?
I have researched methadone extensively. I am also a methadone patient. Methadone has been researched for almost 40 years and it has been determined that it has absoulutely no ill effects on ones health if taken as prescribed. Abuse of any drug can produces some undesireable side effects. R,if you are using methadone as prescribed and take care of your health you should have no problems. I remember a question posed to Dr.
Actually there are several very good articles on the use of methadone for long term treatment of chronic pain. It is beleived to be the narcotic least apt to be abused and has the least side effects. I'm sorry I forgot the author (a respected PM Physician) of the best and most informative article but maybe someone here will remember. I found it by goggling it. Dosage may have to be increased in time but again they beleive not as often as other opiates.
I use the term still detoxing off of methadone as it has been a long journey, I started going to a methadone clinic only out of sheer fear of withdrawal from oxycodone, it was the wrong choice for me, but theirs not anything I can do about it now, so regardless of that, I have gone from 95 mgs down to 12, yipi!
It was hell trying to decrease from that high of a dose down to 30mgs to make the switch to suboxone. High doses of methadone long term have really screwed some people up. Also as a new methadone patient be sure to pay special attention to your oral hygiene. I would reccomed to start using products for dry mouth made by biotene as methadone causes nasty dry mouth at night. Keep a big glass of ice water by your bed and keep your fluids up.
If you are taking Methadone for the high/good feelings it gave you, then you are taking it for the wrong reasons completely. Typically, when you are put on a long term pain medication, your body acclimates to it, and you stop experiencing the side effects that someone new to the medication would have for a short time. It is called tolerance. I was on methadone for severe back pain and I never, ever got "high" or felt good, happy or whatever you want to call it from it.
we did it a few times but I mines as well be getting my oil changed fro the amount of interest in it eventually I couldn't even keep it up and sex became impossible just know its not you and this happens to most guys after your on it a few3 years on the bright side im 586 days clean and my sex drive has came back with a vengeance in time your hubby will get sick of the program and will quit it I would encourage this to anyone thats been on long term the side effects are not worth the benefits I
Furthermore, many physicians feel uncomfortable prescribing methadone for chronic pain and would rather their patients be treated by a pain center. Methadone is long acting and works well for pain relief; however, it is very addictive and has an unusually severe withdrawal syndrome. In fact, when addicts finally decide they want to stop the methadone maintainence, they often go through far more severe withdrawal than with their other opiate they had been addicted to.
but from experence I spent 6 1/2 yr on methadone started out for pain management but wound up at a clinic..(long story)...annyway after being on it so long it is hard for me to post annthing positive about it...it did help for pain and it did keep me functioning on the job 3yr longer then the dr sayed id be able to work...but like mrlucky said after you been on it a wile you notice the side effects ... I started at 40mg and wound up at 150mg it deffently has its side effects...
And then when the methadone detox becomes methadone maintainence, you'll be right where I am, and I am in NO shape to rollerblade. I have no idea what to expect with the w/ds... Can anyone tell me? It seems that it takes a really long time before I start feeling bad... Four or five days... is that normal? Does that mean I won't have a bad w/d??? I'm taking about three drops a day and just waiting for the bad w/ds to hit. How long will it take to get through the worst???
This went away without any further notice but it is back now and has been for at least 6 months. Is there any long term effects that this type of leak could result in? Obviously the headaches are getting the better of me and have been off work for the last 6 weeks d/t the pain and decreased mobility in my neck as well as the increased severity of the headaches.Any advise would be appreciated.
As in?
Terrible long term side effects, mental and phycical. My Dr.is convinced there is no long term effects , he is wrong and has no clue. Has there been any new information on stoping suboxone use. It is taking a toll on my mental and pysical heath??? pcacake.

was the first time not long enough? just curious...i have been on suboxone since may, transitioned off methadone...it was the only way for me. and i blame the methadone for the problems i am experiencing now, it is an awful drug and i swear i am still having problems with withdrawals and depression because of the methadone...whats your thought on this?i really like haring others thoughts on these issues, especially since you have been there...thank you..
I would like to know what are the long term effects of Oxycontin abuse? I was put on Methadone for five days to wean me from the Oxycontin. I felt no symptoms of withdrawl during that whole time. I haven't used in 20 days however for the last four nights I have been sweating so bad that I actually soak the bed. Is this normal? I also experience stomach pain every morning and sometimes through out the day. Thank you very much for your service, Chad P.S.
Long-Term Opioid Therapy – What Are the Effects? Most people who need to take opioids on a long-term basis for chronic non-cancer pain are understandably concerned about what kind of effect it will have on them. Many have mistakenly believed that opioids destroy both the body and the brain – and possibly even shorten lives.

I already researched but there werent any studies yet on the long term effects, so I was wondering if there were any other people who were on it that would know if it is worth being on maintenance or should I just stop after this cuz I am fully detoxed, but am afraid of relapse.....
