Since he is going to have to detox cold turkey does anyone have any advice that I can give to him please? They will not administer methadone in the jail. What are the chances of him having convultions? How bad will his detox be? It is breaking my heart knowing the pain he will encounter and I can't do anything to help him. He was doing so well the methadone program has saved his life. How many days will it take before the pain will ease for him?

He will have withdrawal and it it will begin shortly if it has not already Are they going to let him take anything for the wd ? I take it they know he was on methadone ? We have had some of our members go off methadone they will be able to give you better advice as to what helps and what does not .Hang in there ...
I've been on methadone for 5 years. Last year I was charged with a felony and the legal system is forcing me to get off methadone in order to attend a "drug court" program, or go to jail. Do I have any rights under the ADA or is there anything I can do to fight this?
I have been taking Methadone for about a year and a half now. The most I have ever gotten to was 60mg, but that was short-lived since I only stayed there for a couple weeks before starting to taper off. I got down to 35mg of Methadone after about 5 months of daily dosing. I was on 35mg for about 7 months before I decided I didn't want to be on any maintenance whatsoever anymore.
I hope and pray this time when you get out of jail you will not start using the meth.again. my husband went c/t on 20mg of meth and 8mg of xanax. Yes he was sick.had has high blood pressure he went into a hospital for 4 days then into a rehab.at the rehab he wasn't given anything for the withdrawals.he toughed it out. So glad to hear you are not breaking the law anymore. There is a clean side to life.my husband has been clean for 15 months now after a 14 yr relapse with meth & xanax.
Hopefully your sister is on Methadone under a legal program in which case the clinic may be able to intervene and bring her meds. If so, contact them and let them know what's going on. If not, the medicos at her facility need to be aware of her situation. Per Jaybay, at least they will likely prescribe her Clonodine which will likely make her sleep all the time (not a bad thing). It of course depends on location, jurisdiction (State/Fed), length of stay and lots of other legal BS.
My daughter ,age 33 is pregnant and in jail. The jail stopped the subutex cold turkey and 4 days later administered methodone. Her and the baby now have to be detoxed from the meth. I was told subutex is not FDA approved, reason to stop the med and now dhe cannot enter a rehab because she has to be detoxed 4 weeks, so DYFUS will take the baby. She has been on the meth 4 weeks and is 8 months pregnant.
But i remember going through withdrawals from heroin, when i was in jail, and my friend was on methadone, she would be nodding in front of me and i would be so jealous. The good thing was that when i started to feel better after about a week she still had about a weeks worth of methadone to get, well after that week was over, she got soo sick. I'm sure she was sicker than i was and it took her longer to feel better. I 'm sorry i was trying to help i might have made it worse.
Ok here's my question I have a situation where I have to go to jail for 30 days for some dumb things I've done in the past. Well anyways I'm on 80mgs of Meth and I have to go in on the 22nd of this month is there anything I can do to make it easier to get through the withdrawals before I go or am I just screwed and have to deal with it. Any input will really make me feel better its my first time going to jail and I'm VERY nervous because I'm on Meth.
my daughter is 33yrs old and was arrest on 8/27/08. At the time of her arrest she was on daily methadone (110mg). since they don't give methadone in jail she was forced into cold turkey withdrawal. Last thur4day she was sent to a mental health faciltiy because she is seeing things and hears voices. Please can anyone tell me is this somtimes part of the withdrawal or has she possible lost her mind.
s the thing, and many of us vary on this, but my knowledge is as such...when detoxing off of methadone it is best to drop slowly and let your body get use to each "new" dose. Methadone has a LONG half life, so doing this everyday dosn't make much sense. Is there a reason for this? I personally think it is VERY unrealistic to expect him to work. How long has he been on methadone?
hello, my step son has been on methadone for a year atleast a year he is on 240 mg. he got locked up and says he is not getting medicated.what can happen if he is not getting medicated. we also found out that he was taking zanix and doing crack. to relieve his mother she is wondering what can happen if he isn't gettting medicated.
My friend is in jail just now - he's being prescribed Suboxone as an opiate, and Serequil because they say that he has psychosis and schitzophrenia. (although he never had those symptoms before he became an addict). The thing is that now there has been a mix up, and he's not been getting enough Serequil - now he's rambling, and hasn't got a handle on reality anymore. I think this was possibly brought on by his stress in there at the moment. What to do for the best ?
I was also interested in using a patch to detox myself off of 12 mg of methadone? any used that??
a 100 mg hydro user can get an nrg buzz for the day off 2 mgs of sub,,,sub also has a ceiling effect and methadone does not...sub is prescribed in the US for addiction only/while methadone is legally prescribed for pain and addiction..as a rule sub is more expensive by far than methadone...long term effects of sub use r not really completely known yet so can not compare that to methadone as mdone is an old drug

Hi well to me it sound like a good way to get hooked on the oxy...there is no get out of jail free card here your going to have to withdrawal on something if you been on the methadone for years it will come back to methadone withdrawals + the oxy will get you high making it a no win plan if your trying to get clean just go for the methadone detox and be done with it.....
t take watching him destroy everything in his path anymore. Zanax and methadone are his drugs of choice right now. Where can I go in TN for help for him? What can I do? He has 3 wonderful small children who are in danger.
My niece is living with me. She is 22 years old. She was on heroine since 18 and then on methodone the last year. She has been using "drugs" since she was 14. She was put in jail for domestic assalt and detoxed for 18 days while in jail. She has a previous history of severe depression/anxiety disorder since a child and was on medications/therapy for this when in high school. She has been "clean" for 40 days. She is seeing a psych.
Hello, i've been on methadone for 3 and a half years of about 80 mg on average. At most i was on 110. I tappered down from 110 to 60 very fast in a months time which wasn't bad. Then I went to jail for 3 days cold turkey which was absolute pure hell. I got out, tappered down again right away and hit a brick wall at 20 mg. When I finally got down to nothing, I thaught, great, its almost over, but 2 months later of up and down days I still don't fell even 80% normal.
