I have a question that I have always wondered about Methadone, but never wanted to ask a Dr. LOL. I understand that it comes in pill form and liquid form. What is the difference between the prescribing of it? Such as, why would a Dr. prescribe you the pill form instead of the liquid form, or why would they prescribe the liquid instead of the pill? I understand Hydrocodone comes the same way.

HI you can get methadose from a doctor and pick it up at a pharmacy it is methadone in pill form methadone is usually liquid and is dispensed at clinics you have to go every day to get it most doctors cannot prescribe methadone hence why so many go to the clinics this is nasty stuff I was on it 6 1/2 yrs I would run the other way if someone ever offered to me again it is not a way to get around withdrawals methadone withdrawals are some of the worst you can experence your best off to detox wha

i am currently in a methadone clinic and i am done to 7mg i also been having severe headaches i didnt know what it was from and i am tappering off 1mg a week and the headaches actually started around the same time i have been taking excedrin about 3 pills twice a day and no lie it is helping not 100% but bearable good luck and if u find another treatment better let me know?????
hi, my husband is on 60mg of methadone (pill form) a day for chronic back pain. He's been on this regimen for 4 years now. If he runs out of his pills before he gets the new script how long will the last dose of methadone stay in his system and how quickly will the "dt's" start? I am asking because the doc had to resched his appt and he might run short and want to be prepared.
I had a friend who had methadone in pill form (10mgs) that I continued taking. Was taking 10mgs per day for 3-5 months. In the time I never touched an opiate besides the methadone. I'm now ready to get off the methadone, is suboxone okay to take 1 day after taking 10 mgs of methadone? Keep in mind I've been taking methadone for a couple years now. I had a doc tell me that I would have to stop taking methadone for 7-10 days before I could start the use of suboxone.
I really think that going from lortabs to methadone is just getting you in deeper. Quitting lortabs is way easier than quitting methadone. How many lortabs were you taking a day? Are you sure you want to replace them with a stronger drug? If so, the suboxone, being only a partial agonist, is going to be safer and easier to get off of than methadone. But biting the bullet and just quitting the pills will save you a lot of future pain. Good luck.
i have a friend that is detoxing from methadone how long do symptoms last after completely off.she was only on 10 mgs a day we came off 1.25 mgs a week.
there is also another brand name known as Dolophine. Dolophine is simply Methadone Hcl in an actual pill form, not a wafer. It comes in 5mg, and 10mg strengths. This was oringially designed for people taking methadone for pain control, but was later integrated into the clinic system for those who couldnt tolerate drinking the liquid (Like myself, but Im not sure having to swallow 70 of those pills a day was any better!!!)

My husband is starting to taper down on methadone and we've read that there are a lot of supplements that may help. I'm getting ready to order but I wondered if anyone could recommend a good multivitamin. An article I read said that you need a multivitamin with a strong mineral component and that it should be in gel cap form only because methadone patients have poor gut function and can't absorb a regular pill as well.
I have to go to the clinic every day to get my daily dose. I take the dose in front of a Nurse who watches me drink it. It is in liquid form. There is normally a line of people and we are all there for the same reason. We pay about thirteen dollars a day to get the medicine but we also get to see a Doctor whenever we want and we talk to a Counselor once a week. They also offer a lot of group therapy sessions. About once every 10-15 days, you come due for a drug testing by urine.
Hey I posted Thursday as taking my last pain pill in regards to Lortab,Vicodin,Oxycodone etc... I had 5 10 mg methadones left. My plan was to ween off. I took a half in the morning friday and half at night. Sat was the same and today I took a 1/3rd when I woke and 1/3rd just now. So far I have not felt any withdrawals at all. I was taking about 7-8 lortabs/perc ets a day for about a year. Do you think with what I am doing I may avoid serious withdrawals?
I have been trying to get off this by myself since April. Am now on 1.5 Ml 4 times a day liquid which equals 12 mg in pill form once a day. Chemical dependency won't help me detox cause they say I am not an addict and don't qualify for their program because it was given to me for pain. I can't do this much longer and am going out of my mind. Need info on this drug and support to get off. This last bit is just too hard to do alone. Please help.
Some peoples addictions will make them do very stupid things in order to get money which will usually involve some sort of illegal activity. Methadone does allow a person to a more "functional" addict when they are on the right dose and not abusing it or other medications like benzos. Ive gone down the methadone route many times and for awhile I thought it was something I would be on for life.
