Common Questions and Answers about Methadone in blood test

Test showed he is alive and his heart is fine (thank god!)... I'm interested in seeing his results of his blood test. I asked him tonight if he was happy to be there. He said 'yes' through tears. He said he is starting to 'feel' again, and it's been a long long time. I hope he will feel the joy of music soon, he loves music. I bought him a guitar for his birthday last April and has yet to play it. When he opened it up, he cried. He had pawned his guitar back a year or so back...
Benzos CAN show up in the urine for as long as 6 weeks after chronic, prolonged use, but no longer then 48 hours in blood. Methadone will only show for 24 hours in blood and no longer then 3 days in urine after last dose. So I think someone may be not quite truthful with you. I feel bad for her kids. You can send her to detox at my clinic. She will for sure be clean as long as she has the Naltrexone implant.
its not to comeing off the meth, but the dam chest pains, i think its part wd, i know iwas at the er months ago ekg a bunch, blood test no heart attacks, of course i have to get that angiogram, i applied for disability so hopefully it will go through the bp im only checking 2 times a day only because of wd make sure it doesnt go way up.

I have always thought that drugs were detectible longer in your blood than urine but all the research I have done is stating that methadone and benzos can be detected in urine for up to 2 weeks (average 5-7 days), but only in your blood for 24 hours (2-3 days maximum). Has anybody had this happen to them? Where they have gotten a positive urine for a drug they actually took, but tested negative when they took a blood test?
well what is going on is I went to my Dr and was like Hey my foot is getting worse pain-wise Why ? so he sent me to the podiatrist who in turn had me do a blood test for gout. peps with 1 kidney usually have high uric acid levels and I have had gout flares in the past. anyway he orders the blood test and I do my liver screen at the same time and urinalysis.. He also set me up for a sonogram our echo ? of the blood flow to my foot and a ct scan of it. Then out of the blue I get a call my Dr.

by dennisnj220, 3 hours ago I have been going to a PMD for 1.5 years for chronic knee pain, had complete knee replacement done 4 months ago. Here is the problem I take Methadone 5mg 3x a day & Dilaudid 4mg 3x a day. Had blood test done in May,June,&July they all came back negative for Dilaudid, now I was cut off from the Dilaudid.I told the doctor that I take only as precrible and take every day.

Is this information correct? If so, why do they bother to do a blood test at all? Has anybody had this happen to them?
The clinic performed a blood test to measure the rate my system metabolizes the methadone. Conclusion by physician from blood test reults was that I am metabolizing methadone at a normal rate. I have Hepatitis C and am going through menopause. Could those 2 conditions cause the cravings i am experiencing? Also I urinate frequently throuhgout the day. I have had problems with my take home supply of methadone.
Can't you start developing some new routines BEFORE you are totally off the methadone? Like some quiet time w/coffee in the morning reading recovery meditations .....a daily walk..... a drive somewhere....how about finding and trying some different meetings? There are a lot of caring people that love to hang out and visit and drink coffee that you could meet and share this journey with right now. Have you made any NEW friends that are in recovery yet?
the only thing using while you are there will do is risk failing your urine test and gettin your dose cut in half or even kicked out.. all clinics are different. like gnarly said if it comes to dosing up or using i would dose up.. but you are going to have to come off it eventually so lookin back on my stupid decisions i wish i was in your situation instead of mine. call your local detox centers and ask if they take methedone patients..
To tell you the truth, I would rather be addicted to painkillers than live in pain the rest of my life. When i was on Methadone life was great, i could walk, pain was non-existent. i never asked to kick up the dosage. I have gained at least 50 pounds do to lack of activity. I am in a catch 22, without pain, i can walk, exercise, and have a normal life. I would be more active and lose weight, with the methadone, I can live a normal pain free life.
anyways i had xrays chest, stomach, ultrasound on my stomach the hospital coverd about everything I do have a enlarged prostate i had a blood test for that i guess the blood test was with in limits. my doc today thinks im constipated of course im takeing miralax which i take just about every day .i know i smoke alot cigarettes and drink coke and coffee. thats about it?
sleeping either, cant even keep my eyes open half the time, the more i decrease the more tired i get ,go figure, im i really going threw wd or is this my blood pressure meds? chills ,tired? i dont hjave the answers my doctor doesnt either another reason to look for a new doc.she blames every thing on the methadone, whicth she knows nothing about, she told me she knows nothing, i guess when i look for a new doc.
Hi and welcome to the forum your doing really well on your taper I had to come off 150mg and I did it in 8 1/2 months as for your taper it is really hard to taper off below 10mg once your down to 5 most of us will tell you it is time to jump ship because the dose does not hold you over it is up to you I am not aloud to tell you how to taper on this forum but I will give you some advise you will be 5 weeks ahead and the withdrawal will feel about the same it not that methadone is harsher the
Sorry about the blank post. Sounds like my son in law on methadone who must have relapsed because we found syringes, etc in the room. I would be wary and if you can find out for sure if he is still taking his methadone dose daily.
I have never herd of them doing it like this but I also know in the physician desk reference guide it says not to induse sub untill a person drops down below 30 mg of methadone and if they induse and there is methadone left in his system it will send him into persipatated withdrawals or the 7 level of hell thats why the doctor wants to wait 14 days bettter to error on the side of safety im just really surprised the doctor cares how he feels till then this is a compassionate doctor or a "&qu
HI I have to agree3 with atthebeach methadone or sub is not a way out it is just a way into another prison cell if you jump off the lortabs your detoxed in a week and back up in runnig in a couple of more if you go the methadone route or believe the B/S the doctors will tell you about sub having no withdrawals your going to be jumping from the frinying pan into the fire I was on methadone for 6 1/2 yrs it just about killed me coming off it I was sick for the first 90 days now do you really want
When I read about people putting themselves through torture to get off methadone (or other opioids), I wonder why they are doing it. Methadone in smaller split doses has no bad side effects, but when I have to dose once daily at a clinic I need considerably more methadone to "hold" me for 24hrs. until my next dose (back at the clinic EVERY DAY), and then I suffer from constipation, depression, no libido, etc.
Ask for a blood test. It is the most accurate. Are you looking to come off of Suboxone?
If a person were to ingest liquid methadone and take an albuterol breathing treatment, is there any way that a drug test (blood or any other kind) could show up positive for a small amount of alcohol? Someone mentioned that methadone can metabolize into alcohol. Is this true?
What is causing the false positive for methadone? The urine test was done by an 11 panel urine tester. Can I ask for blood test? It ***** to be accused of something you have not done. The only difference in the last 2 years is that Lycra 50 mg 3x day and IB Profin every other day, I just started these 2 drugs in the last 4-5 weeks......that is the only difference.

Hi again i have a question i have lost a lot of weight im 145lbs, i use to be 158lbs im 5ft 7inches 60yrs old i have a enlared prostate, the blood test was ok. Can methadone make you lose weight? maybe thats why my wds are not as bad as they would be, methadone stores in your fatty tissue? i dont have any fat. i dont know im just worried i have cancer, but as many blood test ive had at the hospital in the past 3 months they prob would have notice something?
if you have a prior known addiction to opiates (which I suspect is why your on methadone right?) then they may test baby. With opiates and methadone, if it's taken right around when baby is born baby can have depressed breathing requiring a bit of oxygen and baby can also suffer withdrawals but those can be managed relatively easily.
My wife has been on methadone for6 yrs the doc put her on 150 mg plus 20 mg of Paxil which almost killed her she just had blood work and a ECG and was told her heart is damaged with a blood disorder She is on her last week of methadone and shows all the bad withdrawal symptoms My question should she get something for her Herat the doctor is watching out for her Three months back she fell asleep in the waiting room waiting for script for methadone and the doctor now is taking her off accusing he
He will be tested to find out what genotype he is carrying (this will decide what treatment he undertakes), a staging and grading test (here in Australia it's the Metavir) which allows him to know fibrosis levels in his liver, and an ultrasound or a biopsy to see what the damage is to his liver. THEN informed decisions can be made. As there are new less invasive treatments in trials in the US as we speak, if there is not much damage, then he may be able to wait for new meds.
Oh I'm in Canada too, much different here, so I'm not sure about the laws regarding methadone down in the states.
