1345254 tn?1325918041 Ok so I'm hoping I'm over most of my withdrawls but today I got this BAD headache and can't get rid of it!! Any ideas???? This headache is by far the worst of the WD I've had!!
Avatar n tn hun, you don't want methadone for anything unless you are terminal. it is the hardest to kick and it destroys your mind. i know, been there. took 16 days to kick it and another 20 to get more than 3 hours sleep a night. avoid it if possible. if you are having migraines, ask your dr. about imitrex. it worked for me.
653169 tn?1303446369 please can someone take their time to comment on my above question. I'm now on the 4th day of methadone and I hate it. I't still in pain, I feel nauseated, have a headache, and feel very depressed and unmotivated. I told my my doc I wasn't liking the methadone yesterday and he said try a couple more days, but I just feel worse today and the weekend is coming up and he will not be in the office.
Avatar f tn So I've made it a whole 9 days without methadone!!! Yesterday I got this killer headache that just won't go away. Is this reated to the w/d? I've been taking tylneol, but ineffective....
Avatar f tn I have also had a headache for 4 days. Could this still be methadone withdrawls ? Or could it be that maybe My SUbutex dose is not enough I take 8mg in the morning and 8mg in the evening. Thanks yall any advice would be great. You all have helped me so much.
Avatar f tn So I heard that some doctors are using opiates w a shorter half life (ie morphine, etc..) to ween ppl off of methadone. Then once they are off, they start the taper off of that opiate. Has anyone heard of something like this? I know that methadone and even suboxone can be so very hard to get off bc of the half-life, how long it stays in your system. Trust me I know that ALL opiates are hard to stop but apparently the methadone wd's last a lot longer?
Avatar f tn I have been off methadone, now, for almost 4 weeks (very gradual withdrawal). For 17 years, I took 65 mg./day. In addition, I've worn a pacemaker for the past 2 years. Since coming off, I've developed a VERY strange problem. It seems my eyes when exposed to certain substances, INCLUDING MY OWN SWEAT, will burn, begin itching violently and, then, minutes later a horrible headache sets in which can last for hours.
Avatar f tn Hey Yall, I want to tell all of you that I could never have made it thru these last 10 days without yall.. For that I am forever greatful.. I took my last dose of methadone 10 days ago and started on Subutex. For the past 4 nights I have not been able to sleep. I am not in withdrawls anymore I just cant go to sleep. It's like when I finally get to lay my head down my mind wont stop going 90mph. I am also very very very emotional but that only really bothers me at night too.
1637908 tn?1333995024 but it seems to be tapering off some. I was able to take my husband to work and back without getting a headache this morning. My energy levels seem to be better for now. I have been getting about hours of sleep a night with the help of some over the counter sleep aide meds. Life is getting better day by day.
Avatar f tn whether its the blood pressure causing the headache or the headache causing the high blood pressure...either way i need to keep that from happening. someone on another board said they have stopped producing GENERIC oxycontin...well maybe my pharmacy had a heavy supply and just recently ran out thus switching me to the brand name oxycontin without me realizing it? i have been with this pain doc and taking this med 8 YEARS and suddenly it is affecting me this way?
767538 tn?1276575320 It's now Monday and I took my last Methadone 5mg pill 3 days ago. I Feel tired, yawning a lot, tearing up and constant headache but nothing too bad yet. I have been on Meth for about a year to treat chronic pain and it worked the best for me but had no idea it would be so hard to quit. I have been on 30-40mg and have tapered down to 5mg. I tried to stop once before but the W/Ds were just too much.
Avatar f tn I swore not to touch the methadone anymore and went back to my regularly prescribed norco -- 2 every six hours. But the headache, nausea and dizziness persisted for 36 hours after I took that 2nd methadone dose. Could I get experience withdrawal symptoms from methadone after having taken it for only two days? Or does it just take a long time for methadone to process out of the body? I feel somewhat better today but my physical addiction to Norco still needs to be addressed.

653169 tn?1303446369 Hello Shanna, I have also been prescribed methadone. It did nothing for me but give me a headache. As said before, everyone is different and our systems respond differently. My physician started me on a low dose and was going to increase it as my system adjusted. So I think that the dosage was to low to be effective and the side effects did not allow the increase. It is reportedly one of the best pain management medications. I think it is worth a try. As you can see it is effective for Mika.
Avatar f tn I think it is a crime that every doctor is pushing methadone for pain relief, due to pressure of the costs of other available, less harmful methods. Is there a panel ANYWHERE looking into this epidemic for the pain SUFFERER? I am NOT going to become a methadone addict because it is SO CHEAP! I have several family members on methadone, much to THEIR chagrin, and now they can't get off it.
767538 tn?1276575320 hey, Can I ask if your quitting by choice or by force? Methadone is definately a tough one. It honestly doesn't matter whether you quit at 5 mgs or 50 mgs. I've done it at both. Don't be discouraged by this, but be mentally prepared. Methadone withdrawls don't fully kick in for 3 to 5 days. The half life is much longer and metabolic rate for how it is metabolized and stored is much more complex, meaning that withdrawls will sadly last longer as well.
2010150 tn?1328545847 day two and i need to do some research cause yesterday...nausea...no sleep last night....today headache....i'm wondering if i may be feeling like this cause the methadone is still in my system ...it has such a long "hang time" cause that's what i've been feeling like...withdrawals......i'm also going to try cutting the strips and taking 1/2 am 1/2 pm ....i have experience at all with these??? they're weird lil strips u put under your tongue to dissolve.....

Avatar m tn t make it clear if you had it before, with or after the headache, or if it had no relation with the headache. It makes a difference if the weakness occurred solo. You are using glasses for vision, but you have blurred sight off and on Well. The above description suits a diagnosis of Migraine with Aura, and this migraine looks like a 'Hemiplegic migraine" if the weakness' of shoulder related to headache. Blurring of vision may or may not be a related symptom..
Avatar f tn As Weaver71, above, says, it really depends on the type of pain & the severity. It also depends on what level of opiate & what dose they were taking before. Suboxone is what is known as a 'partial agonist'. Methadone is a 'full agonist'. They are both powerful synthetic opiates. Although Suboxone binds to endorphin receptor sites more powerfully than any other opiate, it's efficacy as a pain killer is limited as it has a 'ceiling dose'.
135222 tn?1210432488 I have been weaning down from a seven year 50mg methadone habit (for chronic pain) for a few months now. Going down 2.5mg every two weeks seems to have been working out. Once in awhile I would get mild withdrawals that would last a day or two. The worst seemed to be insomnia, shaky and bowel problems. Two days ago I hit 35mg. Ever since then my whole body (except my arms) aches. And I woke up with a headache that will not go away.
Avatar n tn hi- im kinda new here, im going thru methadone detox doing it myself_ ive been at the clinic for 3 yrs, i have 30 day take homes & been detoxing myself_ im now down to 5. (from 25). im really doing this for my husband & for $$ reasons, if it was my choice i wud probably take the easy route... but i DO really want to be off this sh*%. ive been clean for years & don't need to use methadone as a crutch, but its so easy..
Avatar f tn I have been on these medications ( methadone, zanax, dilaudid, and zanaflex ) for 10 years. On Jan 5, 2012 I went into Rehab. It took 16 days of tapering and clonapine and then suboxen to get me to the point where I could get into the recovery center. In the recovery center you can not be on any narcotics. Now remember i was on 140 mg methadone, 6mg zanax, 4mg dilaudid( morphine pill form ), and zanaflex 8mg.
Avatar m tn Thanks for information but I heard that Zopiclone is as addictive as Xanax(acts on same receptor) so I will take Melatonin for sleep instead.
620048 tn?1358018235 I have been withdrawing from methadone for the last 1-2 months and I am down to 3-5 mg.....I am curious if is going to last longer if you have MS. I have been sick, not sleeping and a bad headache for quite long time, actually it seems worse now that i am down to a low dose. It never improves at all...
Avatar m tn So I'm nearing the end of day 6 and my w/d have all stopped except for the runs. However, for some reason today I have a small headache that started after I finished working out and I've been in kind of a weird haze all day. I'm actually wondering, if I took methadone 10mg just once while taking the hydrocodone (one week ago today) is it possible to w/d from it just using it once if you're already addicted to another pain killer?
Avatar f tn Went to the clinic and the doctor was so understanding and we started on 35 mgs.I am not going to get into a long post, but the only problem that we are having is headaches is that normal. We are going to see him again on monday afternoon. The nice thing is we haven't had a pill since Friday.I know som of you guys will say thats not much time but its alot for us.
Avatar f tn i've been going to a methadone clinic for about 2 years now...it definitely served it's purpose...no doubt...i'm getting ready to move to another state and i'd really like to be completely clean and not a slave to the clinic anymore...i have been thinking about trying sub to get off the methadone thinking that i'll take it for a little while and by the time i move in another month i will finally be off everything but i'm hearing that sub is harder to get off than meth...
Avatar m tn While I was taking Oxy, I was also taking about 1 - 2 mg of xanar/xanex once or twice a day. No headache medication needed. Now that I came off the heavy physical withdrawal symptoms, my anxiety and headaches won't leave me alone. It really seems to me that it surfaced from my detox, but it's hard to pinpoint. I've been feeling heart palpitations, jitters, and my mind is racing. From sunup to sundown I still have a dull constant headache (not a migraine!!
