Avatar f tn I feel so bad for you. I can't believe they'd put you on Methadone for Migraines. Like Avis said, all the other meds they have now. And you are so young. It's such a hard drug to get off of. You will find lots of support on this site. By the way, all that weird head/brain activity is what drives me insane also. It will get me so freaky sometimes I just want to bang my head on the wall.
2165056 tn?1337040843 I've been on Methadone for 4three years. I began using it for migraines at 19 for migraines. I didn't have insurance, and this was available to me at no cost, and did wonders fo my toxic migraines. At one point, I topped out at 50 mg/day, but I went right back down to thirty, and have been here at 20 for over year now. I'm quitting for several r 1. I don't want to live under the power of this drug anymore. It's like waking up with a hangover every morning.
Avatar f tn In the months since being on methadone, I occasionally get wistful for those few months of methadone-fueled relief. But every time I see a pigeon flapping around on the ground, I reconsider. It's nice to be in control of my own body. By Mary Gustafson 12.04.
Avatar m tn I was put on methadone for back pain 8 years ago 80mg a day. I have tapered myself off over the last month..I just cut it in half every week ..the last week was 5 mg ..I have been having very bad headaches since dropped to 40mg. I have been off totally for 6 days now and the headaches are still horrible!!! I take excedrin migraine ..it helps a lot but have to take it every 4 hours or so or head will be killing me again ...but it's going to be better than the methadone when it's all over.
Avatar f tn I am 23 and have been suffering from intense migraines for about 12 years. Seizuresfor about 3 years, but this isn't about the seizures.
Avatar f tn it is a 21 day detox program. Also, please note I am on epilim 200mgs twice daily for severe migraines, the epilim works fairly well, although, it fastens up the way the methadone is metabolised in one's liver hence I am in a perpetual state of hanging out.... Any info regarding any of these issues would be great.
667913 tn?1242700488 Does anyone know if Suboxone can used as a PRN (for migraines) rather than daily. I'm having so many migraines, but the acetaminophen or ibuprofen in the pain pills cause rebound headaches and it is just a viscous cycle. Thanks for the support. You all rock!
Avatar f tn I am also on 5mg of valium, and the heart medications astrix (ie aspirin)100mgs, and Lipitor 40mgs. I am also on epilim (for migraines) 400mgs...any feedback will be greatly appreciated.
Avatar f tn Maybe try some ibuprofen or Excedrin maximum. Or could it be a sinus headache? In that case Sudafed. I know I have had some bad can't get rid of headaches and when I took Sudafed it went away. If it persists call your doctor. He could maybe give you a migraine medicine like Imitrex etc. Good luck. Try to relax if possible and get some sleep.
Avatar n tn hun, you don't want methadone for anything unless you are terminal. it is the hardest to kick and it destroys your mind. i know, been there. took 16 days to kick it and another 20 to get more than 3 hours sleep a night. avoid it if possible. if you are having migraines, ask your dr. about imitrex. it worked for me.
1774104 tn?1314215207 I would think that if you are truly addicted versus dependent, than Subutex or methadone may be a good fit for you. My pain management team had discussed using methadone with me for pain management. I have some nerve pain that seems to be very difficult to treat with narcotics. But after doing a lot of research, I decided that methadone wouldn't be the right fit for me. I have seen some articles recently regarding Subutex/Suboxone with regard to pain control.
Avatar f tn I was on methadone for 9 , same dose for chronic migraines and pseudo tumor cerebri my script was stolen someone I knew stole the safe I had I locked in. My dr refused to prescribe more so went cold turkey while waiting to get new appointment at a pain clinic closer to where I live. She did prescribe clonidine which I am positive helped in the beginning she also petscribed some ultram for pain control it has been ineffective and have been to the e.r. 5 times already for my severe headaches.
Avatar f tn I was on Methadone for at least 5 or 6 years and it made little difference in my condition. I have daily severe migraines, it's been daily for almost 8 years now! They have completely changed all of my medications around, but while I was being treated locally, I was taking 70mg of Methadone and I would take 2 Midrin and 2 Lortab to try to stop a bad migraine from getting worse, which worked for a while, but I was ending up in the ER more and more frequently!
Avatar f tn My Dr prescribed me Propranolol for my awful, frequent migraines. The first time I took it I felt weird. Now when I take it I feel like I am dope sick. i've tried every other medication for my migraines, but they make me feel like I just did a lot of cocaine! My heart races, my anxiety rises, I shake and can't sleep. Now I feel like it's either live with the migraines or be dope sick without migraines. HELP!!!!
797052 tn?1240511394 Im only taking like 25-30mg of Methadone a day for like 3-4 days!Im o n day 2 and feeling a lil crappy!By thurs or fri i will be going clod turkey,so now what your saying is im going to withdrawl from the Methadone also?????
Avatar f tn I am having a lot of anxiety for my upcoming appointments to get off of this medicine that has COMPLETELY taken over my life- I just kind of want to talk or get some input as to what to expect. My biggest fear is that the addiction specialist / internist is not knowledgeable with this class of drug (barbituates) - but she must, right?!!!!!! Just myself being pessimistic. I know I'm doing the right thing! My health is highly being jeopardized as well as having a LIFE!
621322 tn?1222138491 s purpose for me and it was time to let it go. i am WD from methadone so it is a long process. if you are WD from oxys or another drug where the WDs are shorter, than i would think that you really don't even need to take it for 21 days. the WDs from those drugs don't even last that long so why would you need to take it for that long? just my opinion, of course. good luck.
Avatar f tn I was discharged from the hospital at the end of Feb. My Doctor put me on methadone for the pain. The perscription is for one month 8 pills a day. 4 (10 mg) tablets in the morning and 4 (10 mg) tablets in the evening. My concern is addiction. I currently have a vicodin addiction, but since I've been on methadone I don't crave the vicodin and I haven't went through any withdraw symptoms. Can someone give me some insight to what the probability is to me becoming addicted to methadone.?
Avatar f tn Sub only makes sense for you as a step down (temporary) from methadone. Methadone as you know is very hard to get off of and even tougher for 18 years but it can be done. It's makes no sense to switch to sub to stay on sub from meth because meth is a better maintenence drug. It makes a lot of sense to use sub for 6-8 weeks as a step down from meth. There are outpatient clinics that specialize in this for methadone patients and give you meds for when you get off the sub.
Avatar f tn The next morning my PO calls and wants me in for a drug test. I pee, fail for Methadone (whatever that is) and then 10 mins later they say I'm fine a faint line showed up. I googled what could make you fail a drug test for Methadone and low and behold the approved Unisom is the first thing that popped up. What makes it show up as a positive? Obviously I haven't taken anymore since but I want to bring this to his attention. It shouldn't be approved if this can happen.
Avatar f tn Sorry, I forgot to ask about methadone for bipolar...I read that methadone can help with this. I'm desparate to help my husband and keep me safe..I don't want to have to file charges against him for threatening me.
Avatar n tn HI you can get methadose from a doctor and pick it up at a pharmacy it is methadone in pill form methadone is usually liquid and is dispensed at clinics you have to go every day to get it most doctors cannot prescribe methadone hence why so many go to the clinics this is nasty stuff I was on it 6 1/2 yrs I would run the other way if someone ever offered to me again it is not a way to get around withdrawals methadone withdrawals are some of the worst you can experence your best off to detox wha
939983 tn?1262528060 5 mg of hydrocodone is equivalent to about 15 mg of methadone. But this is for single dose not for long term pain management treatment. Most physicians beleive in the good practice to start low, go slow. Remember that methadone builds up in your system. It is stored in your body tissues. So it may take days before the full effectiveness of methadone is realized. Methadone levels in the blood will continue to increase for five days from the initial dose.
611067 tn?1458591483 we dont get as many benzo addicts as we do narcotic addicts here so it is nice to have someone to send them to for advice..for instance when a methadone user wants to quit i mention kim715...for fentanyl i mention jacquii...would it be ok to send benzo users ur way?
Avatar n tn I have been on the same dose (50mgs) of methadone for severe pain control for seven years. I was recently dx. with Central Sleep Apnea, and read that it could be caused by methadone and xxanyx . . (I take.5 mgs xanyx at night for sleep). Also, I moved to Iowa recently, and my regular MD here decided she didn't want to prescribe for pain control anymore..So I'm having a hard time finding a MD to presribe methadone..but suboxin docs are easier to find (is it the money?
1687072 tn?1307043528 I am almost a month out of the methadone w/d's. I went to my bi-annual MRI and neuro appointment yesterday and didn't get the news I wsnted to hear. He said because of the w/d my blood pressure was dangerously high and can put extra pressure on the AVM. He put me on blood pressure meds and a loe dose of vicodin to stop w/d's until we get the MRI results in next week. He said then we could discuss an "appropriate" way to get off the narcotics so he could monitor me.
Avatar f tn For anyone who has ever taken Methadone for chronic pain management...When you first started taking Methadone, how long did it take for it to control your pain? How many days, weeks, etc.? My best friend was started on Methadone to manage completely debilitating chronic pain that is the result of multiple, major, back-to-back abdominal surgeries. Tonight marks the fourth full day of her being on Methadone, and she's really not feeling any better. How long can it take?
