Avatar n tn so wouldnt it be better to take the hydrocodone for ab 2 weeks low doses so he can go through the hydrocodone withdrawal and not the methadone? what if he takes a 5mg hydrocodone would that start the withdrawal process over?
Avatar f tn I don't know if I have the willpower to pick the meal over the pill right now. Sad but true! I feel great physically but there's some boredom & missing the pills a little! It's not driving me insane though. Well...... It's been 7 days since I've had the percocets & almost 72 hours since the last methadone. Remember I only took the methadone for 3 days at 10mg a day Is it safe to say its not gonna get any worse??
939983 tn?1262528060 5 mg of hydrocodone is equivalent to about 15 mg of methadone. But this is for single dose not for long term pain management treatment. Most physicians beleive in the good practice to start low, go slow. Remember that methadone builds up in your system. It is stored in your body tissues. So it may take days before the full effectiveness of methadone is realized. Methadone levels in the blood will continue to increase for five days from the initial dose.
Avatar f tn My question really is when is it more beneficial for hydromorphyn to be used for chronic pain over hydrocodone?
3160774 tn?1343705010 DOC=methadone, waited about 60 hours to induce 4mg. sub. 30min later I still felt some withdrawal and took another 4mg of sub. In another 30 min. I was feeling normal, better than normal on methadone. No more withdrawal. Methadone is a long acting opioid, so I reached about a 25 on the COWS scale, longer than necessary. I waited until I had every symptom before induction. I probably would have been fine at 48hrs, but was only going to do it once. Good luck.
Avatar n tn What are the withdrawal symptoms from Hydrocodone and how long will they last? I've been taking 1 or 2 10-325s a day for about a year for knee pain and quit a few days ago. I'm suffering from nausea that lasts from the time I wake up in the morning until about 12:00 noon. And I still don't feel well even then. I would really appreciate this information, as I'm starting to think there is something seriously wrong with me. Thank you!
Avatar f tn It may be uncomfortable for a few days but nothing compared to the withdrawal off the methadone! We are not allowed to give taper advice here on the forum but a slow taper off the 3 pills would prob be doable. I hope your pain doctor can help you find some non narcotic alterantives to treat your pain. Its kinda trial and error finding what works the best for you, I wish you all the best! I think you will be OK. Are you working the program or a program to maintain your sobriety?
Avatar f tn Ok...I recently got off methadone after a 21 day detox from a 120 mg a day hydrocodone addiction.. coming off the methadone was awful!! Way worse than coming off the pilz cold turkey. I made it exactly 14 off methadone from the completion of the 21 day detox. I had restless leg , nausea, loose stools, I couldn't sleep for anything.. it got to the point where I couldn't take it. So two night ago I took 20 mg of hydrocodone and havnt had a withdrawl symptom since..
Avatar f tn I've been taking hydrocodone/methadone combo on/off for almost 6 years. Lately, I've cut the methadone out completely. It's been a month since I've taken any. I've still been taking at least 10 mg; at most 30-40 mg of hydrocodone a day for the past month if not 2 months, I can't remember. I have started attending NA meetings and I want to quit completely. In patient rehab isn't an option bc I have a great job and don't want to lose it.
486507 tn?1237242081 I hope it is good for you but regardless dont let it get the best of you hang in there and stay around. Withdrawal is not easy but when we ever see the horizon it will be worth it. Right?????
Avatar f tn I have been taking 10x325 hydrocodone and 100mg tramadol for chronic pain. I was recently given an option to try the fentanyl patch. It scard me so badly i took it off after a month and a half use. The withdrawal was THE most horrific i have ever been thru. Compared to methadone it was scary! So i decided to go back to the hydrocodone and tramadol for this month. Knowing it would be a hard month for me with pain but needed time to think about my options. Now im not sure where to go.
Avatar f tn I had been on Hydrocodone for about 4 years and my new Dr felt Methadone would help. Day one they gave me 30mg. I could not function and I was very sick, vomiting, etc. I told them that was too high that I wanted no more than 10-15 mg per day. I was a little shocked at their encouraging people to take high doses and increase 5 mg per day. My blood pressure has dropped and I'm not going back and my Question is this. Am I addicted to Methadone at 10-15 mg per day for 7 days?
Avatar m tn No thank ya'll, I found this site last night and feel so much better for it. Its like a meeting less the drama, and I don't even have to go out and be sociable.. And found some much needed advice. Sure as hell couldn't get it from my doc. I've been taking lortab for years and then went to methadone like a *******, I've been methadone free for two weeks with a little lortab help about two a day, I'm finally feeling about over it.
Avatar f tn no offense to anyone but i need to talk to someone that shot up oxycontin for ten years, and has also tried stupid methadone. the methadone is worse than speed or heroine isnt it?
Avatar m tn That is water under the bridge now and i really think going through this probably opened my eyes more than just detoxing from pills. Coming off methadone is a life changing experience, and I have to make it work for the better for me and my family.
Avatar n tn In this instance you didnt do yourself any favors by including the methadone. Strict methadone withdrawal can be a bear. Acute withdrawals may last a couple to several weeks, with less significant problems occurring for as long as 8-12 months. What are you doing in a pro-active manner to help your body recover? Eat as well as you can, use appropriate supplements, exercise, and educate yourself. There is a wealth of information in the Health Pages of MedHelp for you to investigate....
Avatar f tn So... I'm addicted to norco because my mother was and we started taking them together... its been a year and a half long road for me taking anything with hydrocodne we could find... we spend about 500$ a week on pills.... anyways recently. Went through hydrocodone withdrawal and didn't realize I thought it was the flu until it hit me.... I didn't think I would go through them science I only took 4-5 a day....
Avatar n tn hi welcome to the forum....and yes thew methadone will effect you it stays in your system for 3 days so you probably wont feel much till then ....I highly advise ageists messing with methadone its truly a demon of a drug if you wind up stung out on it and try to kick you will be sick for months this is one drug not to mess with good luck hope you make it clean this time............
Avatar f tn do I need to be hospitalized for the withdrawal? I was only able to be without the hydrocodone for 24 hrs. before I went to the ER! I'm 61 years old and scared that my heart isn't going to hold up to this ............... my blood pressure went to 159/104. I live in a very rural little town and no other doctors or clinics or anyone will let me be seen or prescribe hydrocodone.
Avatar n tn It will continue on and off (especially stomach issues and fatigue) for a month or so for most people. The mental aspect will be with you forever. Addiction is a chronic disease with no cure. Please, find some sort of aftercare and plan for the life after withdrawals. Good luck.
Avatar m tn coming off methadone was by far my worst withdrawal and doing it the way you did im sure it was your worst withdrawal also...its the recovery time that makes it so hard it takes literately months to start to feel better and I dont know any practical way around it taking lortabs will postpone it but wont make it go away eventually your just going to have to grind it out or get addicted to the lortabs...
Avatar m tn Hi KR20, Welcome to the forum. How much methadone are you taking? Detoxing from methadone can be quite difficult, especially if you are on a high dose. I have taken methadone before and it is very long acting, so the withdrawal is quite a bit longer than a regular opiate. I detoxed from Suboxone in 2009. It is similar to Methadone in that it too is very long acting. I tapered down to 1-2mg, which was not enough and finally ended up doing a detox with medical help.
1462830 tn?1286660371 Everything you're feeling is normal at this point in withdrawals. The symptoms should start letting up here soon. Whatever you do, do not go to a methadone clinic. It's no an actual "shot" like mentioned above. People probably refer to it as a "shot" because at a methadone clinic it is a small amount of liquid methadone in a little cup or "shot glass". Methadone is one of, if not the hardest opiates to detox from.
Avatar m tn I think you are on your way. Don't try to substitute methadone for the weird withdrawal feelings. You can make it and you will feel so much better. You will have more confidence and I bet that the sweating will also dissipate. Good luck and God bless.
478403 tn?1266546009 Hi everyone, Last time I logged in has been a long time ago when I was going through Valium withdrawal. I have been on Lortab for 3 years now and I asked the doctor the other day if it could cause my mood swings, anger and frustration. He said he had never heard any one complain of that before and decided to change my medication from Lortab to Oxycodone. I didn't really want that but he said it was a real low dose short lasting one so I said okay.
Avatar f tn (maybe about once a week to get that extra boost of energy to get some stuff done) Then it became more and more and I eventually got dependent on it. In 2010 I stopped the Methadone for about 5 days and switched to Suboxone. Feb 1st I quit taking suboxone and started taking hydrocodone. Today is day 2 without the pills and I feel like total crap. I took a tramadol yesterday and today and it eased the withdrawal some. Should I take tramadol for about a week or should I just not take it at all.
Avatar f tn I too was on methadone for right at 5 years for an addiction to hydrocodone and oxycodone. I actually was forced to leave the clinic due to my benzo use even though it was prescription. For whatever reason they didn't care for the first three years and the last two they got strict.....like they didn't know the combo wasn't a good combination in the first place five years ago. But to your situation......
