Avatar f tn It kept me from drinking and going to jail and allowed me to live the same type of lifestyle w/o the risk of hurting anyone. I found the cure for alcoholism. 5years later I was in the methadone clinic where I did 7 years of methadone and 2 yrs of subs. I jumped 8mg subs Feb 8th. I did it crazy like. Today is day 9 and no subs. No cravings. I'm so happy as hell because I'm gona finally change for my family.
243614 tn?1266197537 I know this is the addiction forum. I use to be here too. I got off hydrocodones with the help of suboxone. I was in a study with the sub and it lasted 24 days or so and was a fast taper, too fast. i have never been so depressed in my life. It lasted a couple of weeks and then gradually got better. So, what did i do after that. Became an alcoholic. I have been to rehab, aa meetings, therapist. i am now on naltraxone. It helps but i feel very weird on it. I am wondering if a dr.
Avatar f tn It knocks out cravings for alcohol and narcotics. It worked good for me with the narcotics. If you would drink on it you would not get sick but you would not get the effects of the alcohol. The down fall to it is if you don't have ins it is $1,000 a month for the shot where I live anyways. The pills are a lot cheaper. I don't know if you would be interested in it but just wanted to pass on the info to you.

I got off methadone for a year and a half by weening myself. Now ive been on morphine and everything opiate i can get my hands on. Should i try to go to a methadone clinic or does anyone have any suggestions about a rehab that will help me. I'm scared to go threw the motions again and ive heard about suboxen. Is that like methadone?
1485372 tn?1359545131 U can type this into Google and get the symptoms according to the DSM-IV!
Avatar n tn AA for him and Al-anon for you. Just like addiction, he is the one that needs to change and admit there is a problem.
Avatar n tn I'm 29 years old and have been drinking beer quite heavily for about 4 years. On the nights that I decide not to drink, for whatever reason... I'm plagued by profuse sweating which keeps me from sleeping. I've heard that quitting drinking in some alcoholics can be dangerous. Is this true? And why do I sweat when I don't drink?
Avatar n tn i drank at 14 to get drunk....never seemed to have an off switch like some of my friends who never went to the xtreme i did!i did this with drugs too.....i always failed miserably at controlled use.....there seemed to NO OFF SWITCH within me...no matter how desperately i tried to find it!I have quite a family history of alcoholism......i do believe in genetic predispostion as well..but I didn't ask for this disease.....
Avatar n tn Does alcohol detoxification treatment really treats the physical effects of prolonged use of alcohol. Can an alcoholic be treated without getting himself admitted in India and for how long generally the treatment continues. My husband is a heavy drinker and its almost 17 years since he has been drinking regularly and the result is he is unable to avoid a single day as his legs start paining. His has a busy schedule . Kindly advise . My email id is ***@****.
Avatar n tn A lot of that is bile too,,as mentioned above that is part of the detox,,i know it *****. The imodium and electrolytes will help. How much alcohol are you detoxing from? Do you have meds for seizures or delirium tremors? Coming off alcohol,,its important to be under a doctors care. I hope you feel better soon!
Avatar f tn Many recommend some form of aftercare be realize that what works for one may not work for another. For many, this forum is the only form of aftercare they use. I think you should stick around. I'd be very surprised if you don't enjoy reading and posting here. Best of luck.
Avatar n tn hi again. ya, for alcohol detoxification a benzodiazepine such as valium, ativan or librium is often given in a tapering dose.
Avatar m tn my friend is an alcohlic and she's having many health issues such as peeling of the hands and feet, hair loss, no apetite, weight loss, anxiety, depression, dimentia, etc... Are these signs of her body shutting down? She's been to several rehabs and has been in the hospital for alcohol poisioning.
Avatar f tn I have looked around the internet, and I was wondering has anyone come across some good material that explains Methadone withdrawls. I am looking for some material to hand out to my family so they will be more sympathetic to my condition. Also I have always beeni prescribed Methadone I have never purchased drugs off of the street. My family knows that I am on the Medication and some what about my previous attempts.
Avatar n tn ve experienced about everything withdrawal has to offer, and aside from the medical risk, if it gets too unpleasant she might drink more for relief like i did a few times trying to do it myself. she needs to be somewhere that can provide medication and monitor things like vital signs. there is nothing non-prescription that will help the acute symptoms. please treat this as the potentially life-threatening condition that it is. ironpetal is right, she could die.
Avatar f tn t have really have a question that has clear cut answer so I am really searching for a place to vent and speak with people that understand this horrible disease. My estranged husband was diagnosed with liver disease 6 years ago. We have been married for 22 years but I separated from him 6 years ago because of the alcohol abuse. However, after a year he returned to live with us (we have two children, 17 and 21 now) because he does not have family here and does not have a place to go.

Avatar m tn Went on methadone and did a taper. Was sober for almost a year, In August this year I relapsed. I used for 6 weeks then went CT for 6 days and ended up using again. Its been 4 weeks of using again and I want off this crap. My need for help is this: Nobody know about this addiction. Not my family or my work. I have a management position with a lot of responsibility. I just took three days off when I went CT 4 weeks ago telling them I had the flu. Do I go back on methadone or try suboxone?
4785264 tn?1359142440 I believe it's for the treatment of alcoholism, and not for opiate pain medication. But best to check with a Dr. to get complete and accurate information. Please do not take this without a Dr.'s supervision. Good luck!
Avatar f tn I was discharged from the hospital at the end of Feb. My Doctor put me on methadone for the pain. The perscription is for one month 8 pills a day. 4 (10 mg) tablets in the morning and 4 (10 mg) tablets in the evening. My concern is addiction. I currently have a vicodin addiction, but since I've been on methadone I don't crave the vicodin and I haven't went through any withdraw symptoms. Can someone give me some insight to what the probability is to me becoming addicted to methadone.?
Avatar f tn Sub only makes sense for you as a step down (temporary) from methadone. Methadone as you know is very hard to get off of and even tougher for 18 years but it can be done. It's makes no sense to switch to sub to stay on sub from meth because meth is a better maintenence drug. It makes a lot of sense to use sub for 6-8 weeks as a step down from meth. There are outpatient clinics that specialize in this for methadone patients and give you meds for when you get off the sub.
452063 tn?1324074916 For those of you in the first few weeks of recovery who feel great right after detox is complete please read this article and be prepared and keep making plans to prevent relapse. This is a classic phenomonen and will lead to relapse. Remember...YOU CANT TAKE JUST A FEW. The “pink cloud” is best described as a period of time where the addict or alcoholic experiences a reprieve from the struggles associated with early recovery.
Avatar f tn Sorry, I forgot to ask about methadone for bipolar...I read that methadone can help with this. I'm desparate to help my husband and keep me safe..I don't want to have to file charges against him for threatening me.
Avatar n tn HI you can get methadose from a doctor and pick it up at a pharmacy it is methadone in pill form methadone is usually liquid and is dispensed at clinics you have to go every day to get it most doctors cannot prescribe methadone hence why so many go to the clinics this is nasty stuff I was on it 6 1/2 yrs I would run the other way if someone ever offered to me again it is not a way to get around withdrawals methadone withdrawals are some of the worst you can experence your best off to detox wha
