Methadone euphoria

Common Questions and Answers about Methadone euphoria

methadose

Im happy to hear that you are feeling better, but this feeling of euphoria may be temporary? When I first started to take methadone I to had this happy warm feeling, & after I stabilized it went away. I have to agree with sim, she is right, go down as slow as you can, I went down 2mgs every week & looking back I think even that was to fast, as methadone takes so long to leave your system.
but this time i did not let it//i upped my meetings to daily//my workouts to daily//and re-read the thomas recipe and took recommended doses of the aminos./.and pulled thru I hope ur euphoria lasts forever! Perhaps it will...but if it does not..and PAWS bites u hard...be aware enuf to know the right moves to make...
i couldnt exactly tell if it was methadone youare on for pain or other painkillers, but assuming its methadone you are on for pain its definitely going to be hard to get off of, it is a very effective pain killer and long alsting, and prduces less of a rush or euphoria than heroin and toehr strong opiates, but it is very addicting and can be lethal.- i am on it for a bad addiction to heroin and oxycontin(snorted) and its a great treatment option for me, but its def. addicting too.
I would like to know what your opinions are on Methadone for treating pain killer pills? Did it work for you? How did it make you feel? I've heard that the withdrawals from Methadone are worse than any other opiate. Has anyone experienced this?
I had this effect ...the drugs turning on me and causing depression verses euphoria at the end....i know not all have experienced this...i do think it made it easier to quit...anyway i saw this article and i posted the entire interview in my journal..this paragraph caught me eye...the article/interview was very informative Leshner: Here is another indication of the difference between drug use and addiction.
Her doctor changed her medicine to 30 mg. of Methadone a day. I read everything on this website about Methadone and was under the impression that it works great for pain and it doesn't get you high. My mother seems like she is in another world, will she eventually get used to the medicine and start to act normal again? I am very worried because she is doing crazy things, walking outside in her underwear and so on. Is 30 mgs. a lot? She is driving on this medicine, I don't know what to do.
But you better than anybody know what this Methadone can do. Your from the day when they actually used methadone biscuits right? The orange ones, Now they use methadose which is horrible. It gets into your bones depletes your body of calcium, your teeth fall out after several years of use. You have another solution to your problem. It's a drug called suboxone it works by blocking the opiate receptors and you can get 1 month at a time.
Methadone is not used as much these days to treat pain. My father has been on it for over 15 years. He suggests going another route. I am on Fentanyl 100mcg with Oxycodone 15mg tablets (x2 every 4-6 as needed for breakthrough pain). This combination seems to work well for me. I have had ankle fusion surgery and have Chronic Pain in my lumbar spine along with Face Joint syndrome.
Any medical doctor can prescribe methadone for pain relief. Methadone clinics are for methadone maintainence (for addicts) and not for chronic pain sufferers. They are governmentally subsidized which is why I assume your doctor referred you there and not to a pain management specialist. I am quite surpised the methadone clinic accepted you.
So if you were up to 200 mg of oxycontin daily a dose of roughtly 65-70 mg would equal that dose of oxycontion and keep you out of withdrawals and pain. When you first start on methadone you will get euphoria from the dose for approx. 6 months and you will also sweat very heavily on methadone. The good thig about methadone is it is cheap.360 10mg methadone pills cost approx. $45-$50 at pharmacy where 10 20mg oc's would cost that much at pharmacy or 4 or 5 oc's on the street.
No one should critisize them or look down on them because they are on methadone because being on methadone is a hell of a lot better then what they were doing. So that might sound like methadone is the lesser of two evils, if thats the way you want to look at it and the way that most people look at it. But i am so over all the negativity that comes along with methadone. It is helping me to get well. It is helping to get my life structured again.
I don't know if it is me but, I used to take the pills for the pain and euphoria, now, when I take the pill, I have basically no effect, no euphoria, nothing besides taking the pain away. Does methadone kicks out the euphoric effect of the hydrocodone? I am sorry for such a long note but, I just feel that I had to share my experience with others who can rely on something similar.
Well i got in a car accident about 6 months ago, they started me on Per 10/325z then a couple months ago we switched to Norco 10/325z i was up to about 6 or 7 Norcos a day, well i recently ran out and have been taking Methadone for about 8 days, today being the 8th. Well 6 of the 8 days i took 30mg and i have took 40mg yesterday and today, which supprizingly does alot considering my tollerence.
Hello, I began a Methadone Maintanence Program 9 days ago, with my 2nd dose coming today. During the interview stage with a counselor, I was told that caffeine would adversely affect the Methadone I was receiving. Is this true? And if so, is there some sort of chemical reaction or interference at the opiate receptors, or is she just generalizing about the effects of caffeine on patients in this type of program? Thanx...
A lot of my patients these days with chronic pain issues (cancer, etc) are prescribed Methadone. And, of course many people take other Narcotics on as "as needed" basis for pain (Percocet, Vicodin, etc)...and I tell you, it seems that the people who have been on long-term Methadone are WAY more concerned about getting their dose of that versus an "as needed" dose of another narcotic. I guess Methadone also gives the user a "high", similar to a Percocet?
My son- 28yrs old- has tapered down to 20mgs of methadone daily. He has been a long term painkiller addict and has been on a methadone program for two years. His plan is to switch over to withdraw starting tomorrow- Friday- and move over to suboxone at 5 am Monday morning. He has to work on tomorrow and Saturday-he is a facctory worker and they have 0 tolerance for absence- even sick days are cause for termination.
Well, if I were to have to take either one, it'd certainly NOT be the Methadone. You are way more likely to experience euphoria on this. WAY more.
I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure Methadone blocks those opiate receptors so no opiates can give you that euphoria anymore. Sounds like there may be something else going on. Not making assumptions. Please let me know how everything's going. Haven't heard from you in a while. I miss you and please let me know about your friend.
I decided to get on methadone, wow bad mistake. A month on methadone turned into 5 years. I probably would still be on methadone today but i got kicked out because I was prescribed and still am to klonopin and when i started the clinic they didn't have rules against benzo's as long as they were counted out at each counseling session, but then three years later they expect me to just abruptly quit, how nice of them.
I also suffer with bipolar disorder so from time to time I have to go odd the antidepressant to prevent manic episodes its a juggling act talk to your doctor and dont be afraid of antidepressants when there working right you don't even know your taking anything theirs no euphoria or anything...keep up on the whey protein shakes take a good multi vitamin and just know your going to get better from here forward ...
I do not believe that switching from methadone to Suboxone is an answer.Suboxone is an opiate and is extremely addictive. People find it just as difficult to taper and quit. One of the patients in our clinic, who we had to detox from Suboxone, was so addicted, that no matter how far down she titrated this drug she could not get off. At one point she was literally just licking the 1 mg strip, but she could not give it up. I find that most have the same problem with both of these drugs.
i am on methadone maintenance for opiate addiction, if methadone is also an opiate blocker what prescription meds will give me relief from my pain? i mean, do i take higher doses of opiate to get relief from my pain or is there a certain pain med i need to take while on methadone to get relief from my pain? please HELP!!!!
Hey guys, I just saw a post about legal possesion and it reminded me of an issue I had while on methadone. A buddy and I were driving through a really nice neighborhood in a not so nice car.... I had just gotten a new cell phone with a full keyboard on it and received a text message. I pulled over to reply cause I wasnt used to texting on it. A cop drove by and when I proceeded up the road I was pulled over.
anyway my question is has anyone gone on bupenorphrine from methadone, how low was your dose. should I go off methadone completely go on like oxy's or norcos to be able to go on bupenorphrine or what should I do. My doctor is hopeless and he is the only one in my city that I can go to. What should I do? Please Help Me.
when a person gets addicted to methadone the brain quits making these endorphins because the methadone is supplying these agents for it... without these endorphins a person feels low energy, depressed, pain, etc. When a person tries to get off methadone too quickly they are not giving their brain time enough to make a sufficient amount of these feel good agents naturally. That is why i think a slow taper is better. You might make it by jumping at 3mg or 5 mgs or whatever...
Before I was placed on methadone, I was taking a lot of Lortab 10's. The side effect euphoria of the Lortab is more enticing than that of methadone. I have no ambition to start taking more and more of the methadone. It just isn't that kind of drug to me. This leads me to believe that methadone, as a pain reliever, is probably a better choice for chronic pain patients and should be used right off the bat for many instead of Vicodin etc.
PLEASE HELP! Im 20yrs old,im on Methadone Therapy becasuse im was on heroin since my 14th.It's my 18th day on methadone,is it time to tapp down, since they told me i can go on to maintenance if im scared too much to go back to heroin (i used it at least 3 years IV).I am scared to go back. What shall i do?? I was on oxy for a long time before I ever took a methadone and ya, methadone can get you pretty lit if you take a lot and it would probably appear just as if hes on oxy. As gnarly said if hes nodding out hes taking too much.
Methadone is a monster to get off of.....it does produce a high or euphoria .....sub doesnt do that - - - if you want to take it and get off, use sub. There is a reason they call it methadone maintanance.........
