Methadone is a much longer acting opiate that vicodin, but it will still give a form of euphoria. Your doctor is probably prescribing the methadone to give you better pain releif for a longer period so you don't have to take as many lortab. At one point when I was having severe neck pain, my doctor also put me on lortab and a small dose of methadone. Please be careful, as both drugs are very addictive and methadone is very hard to withdrawal from.
So I chose the methadone clinic route. They statrted me at 30 mg off the bat and it seemed way too much cause I was getting high off it all day long. I have been taking methadone everyday for past 25 days and decreased does pretty much every couple days so far and still am gettin high off the crap. Not nearly as intense as the 30 mg obviously, but still some euphoria for a short time of the day.
i couldnt exactly tell if it was methadone youare on for pain or other painkillers, but assuming its methadone you are on for pain its definitely going to be hard to get off of, it is a very effective pain killer and long alsting, and prduces less of a rush or euphoria than heroin and toehr strong opiates, but it is very addicting and can be lethal.- i am on it for a bad addiction to heroin and oxycontin(snorted) and its a great treatment option for me, but its def. addicting too.

I took the tabs and vics for pain and then the euphoria. Since Friday at about 6 I have not taken anything since. I feel fine with a little lack of motivation and energy. I have cravings and boredome but I figured this symptons will be around for a while to come. I will say that the very fast weak mg taper method I did with methadone either worked wonderfully or I was barely addicted. I was taking 40mg of codone a day for about 9-12 months in 5mg doses.
However, they also do not give you the euphoria of the Oxys, they are both long lasting medications. Methadone needs to be taken daily at the clinic to which you will be tied to for the rest of your life, no vacations to Disney land. Suboxone is more expensive, you need to wait until you are experiencing some withdrawals before your first dose otherwise it will cause withdrawals, and it is extremely hard to get off of. On top of it, it is hardly without side effects, do your research.
t do my job, because of the pain of lupus and back problems, so I could not afford it anymore. I was offered Methadone, and I was of course weary because it has a stigma attached to it, and that it is only heroin addicts that use it, but after getting over it, it turns out to work even better then the Oxy. Ok, not to the point of this post, different types of medicine has a different way of working; as you know.
s I know want you off methadone for 3 days OR when you are in kinda bad methadone w/drawals. That being said, on my 2nd day off methadone, (was on 32mg's) , I took a couple Vicodins because of the w/drawals. On the evening of day 3, I was tested for the amount of methadone still in my system. I only had a tiny bit, (also popped positive for opiates, but explained why), and was given my dose and felt fine in 1/2 hr. Actually, felt great.
m pretty sure Methadone blocks those opiate receptors so no opiates can give you that euphoria anymore. Sounds like there may be something else going on. Not making assumptions. I read something recently that kind of made me curious. So I heard that some doctors are using opiates w a shorter half life (ie morphine, etc..) to ween ppl off of methadone. Then once they are off, they start the taper off of that opiate. Has anyone heard of something like this? I know that methadone and even suboxone can be so very hard to get off bc of the half-life, how long it stays in your system.
I agree with you. Life on pills is no life at all. It's tiring and a constant let-down.
I am encouraged by your 7 days clean from methadone. I've been told that Suboxone withdrawal was a walk in the park in comparison to methadone withdrawal. My Sub detox was terrible, so I can only imagine what you're going through.

Mr Lucky thats strange i actualy hated opiods when i used to take them prior to methadone, made me nausated etc etc, and well i never got no Euphoria of them, then i got hold of methadone, at first i hated that too then i vomited after that i felt euphoria much like a H addict would i hear after you vomit...and well months turned into years and here i am dependant on it.... btw i am still no wrapped in opiods, my Main DOC was benzo's alchol belive it or not....
s horror stories out there regarding both of these medications. My opinion is that Ultram has less euphoria and therefore a lower potential for abuse. That said, Ultram is a witch's brew of an anti-depressant and a pain medication that is a weak opiate-like drug, but one that metabolizes into a much stronger one. Many people have found Ultram to be a very hard drug to quit using.
i am on methadone maintenance for opiate addiction, if methadone is also an opiate blocker what prescription meds will give me relief from my pain? i mean, do i take higher doses of opiate to get relief from my pain or is there a certain pain med i need to take while on methadone to get relief from my pain? please HELP!!!!
Your body will become tolerant and dependant on both. Some say tapering off methadone is easier than others. I have heard that methadone withdrawl can be terrible, too.
It gets a bad rap in some medical communities because it IS used to help heroin addicts with heroin withdrawls. I took methadone for a while and it was pretty effective as a long acting pain med. My only problem with it is that I needed an increase after about 4 months and needed more BT meds.
i feel amazing i am not like crazy happy but i am content and i am kind of anxious about how bad i will feel once the euphoria is gone
