Methadone dosage conversion

Common Questions and Answers about Methadone dosage conversion

methadose

Avatar f tn As far as conversion from liquid to pills you should be able to find some sort of conversion chart on line or you could try calling a methadone clinic or Dr. and ask..even if you need to call to a different state. I have in my journal a great article about methadone/withdrawal written by a dr. who was also an addict for 18 yrs. it has alot of info and some things you can do to help ease some of the w/d. Just reread your question..are you wanting to take liquid?---This is what I found online .
Avatar m tn I have also read that it is the difficult to convert methadone dosage to another strong opioid. It has varying absorption rates from person to person. There are no accurate charts that tell you if you take 50mg of Methadone that will equal 60 mgs of Morphine. Conversion is usually done by trial and error. You might want to consult a PMP or discuss this with a pharmacist that you know and trust. Good luck to you. Maybe one of our members will more information for you.
Avatar m tn ve seen of fentanyl detox and my own year long, slow methadone recovery, I think fentanyl and methadone are only different in dosage. The full synthetic nature and side effects of both methadone and fentanyl make them very close tie for the worst detox ever. As I vomit and shat myself in my yard from methadone detox, I remember wishing I was a heroin or any other kind of addict. Anyway, mute point, but wanted to share. How much and how long methadone use have you got under your belt bullseye?
Avatar n tn You can google a narcotic conversion chart to see if the difference in dosage and medication is correct. You can also talk to your pharmacist about it. Methadone is very different from other narcotics. It's half life is much longer so it takes a while to get out of your system. It also stores in your muscle and bone, which also make it more difficult to come off.
168732 tn?1311712079 Recently become tolerant to fent and docs feel moving to methadone would be best course of treatment. Have studied some and know that conversion can be tricky and is less toxic to liver (have stage 2 cirrhosis), so hoping it will be the right decision. Will it be a rough ride, up down, during change, will methadone be as effective helping pain and what different side effects can I expect. I now have plenty nausea, fatigue and usual restlessness on all the opiates.
Avatar m tn m really not sure of the exact conversion but I do know methadone is a good deal stronger than oxycodone. I do believe that it would be possible to take methadone with oxycodone for break-through pain if your doctor prescribes it at your next appt. One of our Community Leaders posted a medication conversion chart in her journal. It's handy for getting an idea of the equivalency of different pain meds.
Avatar m tn Good job gettin down to the 5mg. I'm to lazy and unsophisticated on the web to look up the conversion table from methadone to oxy, but I'm pretty sure you went up in dosage. That's probably why it helps with the wd's from the 5's. I don't know that there's any darn differance in what withdrawals from any opiate is compared to another, for me they are all pretty unpleasant. Hopefully others that know better will see this and post.
Avatar n tn Hi, 0.025 mg = 25 mcg. Are you sure they are giving you the 0.025 mg and not 1/2 of the 0.250 mg? If this dose you have written is correct it is only 1/5th of the 125 mcg, and you will be very much under medicated. From what you said on levothyroxine you were taking 125+62.5 = 187.5 mcg x 6 days 62.5 mcg on day 7, This gives a total dose of 1,187.5 mcg over a period of 7 days. On the VA med (0.
267288 tn?1256278177 Does anyone know what the equivalent dosage of Armour is to 1.25 mg and 1.0 mg levothyroxine respectively? Also, if anyone knows the equivalent Armour to 1.0 mg levothyroxine/ .25 mg Cytomel... Thank you very much in advance....
Avatar f tn even small doses are powerful but it is misleading because there is no euphoria with methadone as for morphine your conversion seam off.....when deciding to jump ship that is why I always suggest single digits it will make the withdrawal a whole lot more doable good luck and God bless........
Avatar f tn In other words, this is not the only place to get the conversion information. Now, I will not provide conversion info for methadone...ever! That opioid is completely unpredictable as it builds up in your system and even the conversions that are out there are very risky to go off of as everyone's metabolism is different and with methadone, the conversion is not straight forward at all.
Avatar m tn If we knew what type of drugs and how much he was taking PRIOR to the methadone we may be able to give you an educated guess. The fact is though the dosage amount of the methadone is not really the issue here. The fact that your son is still very much in active addiction and playing a deadly game with some fatal combinations is the real issue. You can't blame his behavior on the methadone, thats not what is doing this.
Avatar m tn Hi I just happened to see your post, it hasn't been answered. I don't have a great answer but there is a conversion chart from Suboxone to Methadone, you can search it out. At the same time, from everything I have read if you were going from 30 mg of Methadone to 12mg sub it would be ok, the opposite is not true. Suboxone is much stronger than other opiates so you would want to do the conversion yourself before the doctor switches you.
Avatar f tn I am in a torment myself and am on 7.5mg of methadone. Methadone is 6X a higher drug than most. Not to get alarmed about if we r doing what we r suppose to do and under a doctor's care and all. V., u r saying 4mg of meth? U mean 4 of hydro by any chance in what u have learned? U learned 4. I have learned 6.
Avatar n tn If not, you should have these tested as soon as possible to see if there are other issues going on (e.g. conversion).
Avatar m tn where as with methadone u can go up and up on dose..sub is not like that..it has a ceilingeffect and no more...most doctors rx this drug way over the ceiling effect....for just about anyone 8 mgs is the strength that can cover drugs..after that poeple r using pshycoligicaly. 4 mgs covers most habits....
Avatar m tn Im going to break my questions down into more manageable chunks - could anybody explain why my weight fluctuations of upto 3 stone, 20 kilos has not resulted in any thyroid dosage changes? I've stayed at 150 mcg and varied between 16 and 19.5 stone. My pet hobby at the moment is to try and prove some kind of rT3 problem, but my docs aren't having any of it. So time for some education.
Avatar m tn The conversion to Methadone varies wildly given many different factors. Methadone is a very very tricky and difficult to convert. Methadone and another med that isn't used much (Levorphonal..sp?) have extremely long half lives on the order of DAYS. In other words it takes 2-3 days for the initial dose to reduce to 1/2 the amount.
Avatar n tn you can google it conversion armour thyroid or look online there is a thread with some conversion charts on it.
Avatar f tn As you increase and your FT4 levels go up, your body has to do a whole rebalancing act. Conversion has to ramp back up. Our bodies have to heal after months or years of being hypo.
Avatar m tn I recently started taking Naturethroid. My naturopath has me on 3 pills, each 1/2 grain. She said that this will be my highest dosage and she doesn't think I will need a higher dosage. I find this kind of strange since it's definitely less than the 150 mcg of synthroid I was on before....how is 3 pills of naturethroid enough? Can other people tell me what naturethroid dosage they're on or if they know the average dosage?
3241062 tn?1346895870 I was wondering if anyone has a link to a conversion table for the Erfa Thyroid. I was on 75mcg of Synthroid and my gp started me on 30mg of Thyroid. I tried to tell him that it didn't match my T4 dosage but he wants to wait for the blood work, arrgh. I was feeling great on the 30mg for about a week-what a tease, lol. Now I'm back to where I was before.
Avatar f tn My total thyroid was removed because of Cancer. I have gone through Radiation Abliation and am cancer free. I am on Synthroid .50 five days a week & .75 for two days. My dosage has been changed several times. I would like to know what would be the correct dosage if I change to Nature-Throid? The conversion chart is confusing? I am having problems getting my levels correct. Will Nature-Throid work to suppress recurrence of cancer and work better to level the TSH, T3, & T4?
