i've seen a hundred times that mixing those two is very dangerous. i'm no doctor, but i myself take methadone and once i took a valium, i've never felt sicker!! i do believe it is very dangerous. . .
Methadone and benzos (valium) can be a deadly combination. There are some instances where methadone and oxycodone are taking together in pain management. But that is only when the daily dose of methadone is very low. If someone is taking the methadone and oxycodone on their own, and is not medically supervised, it too may be deadly. It couild cause respiratory failure.

they are speaking of using benzos like xanax after you have stopped the methadone and are in WDs....I have never taken methadone but my son worked at a clinic and if the person tested positive for benzos they could not have their dose and it was against the rules...You should talk to your doctor about any medications u decide to use...especially if you are still taking methadone....it is good that you are interested in quitting..lots of support here..
oxygirl487 - The last time i was prescribed the percs was over 5 months ago - I had 3 leftover and so took them while tapering over the last 4 days. I think I was so busy doing 80's that the percs just weren't good enuf for us. I'm a pill snob I s'pose .. lol. Anyway - since my last prescription out habit increased dramatically - I'm past needing methadone and valium but have a bf who's quitting too.
With the amount of oxy he was taken sub might not work, the dose can only go so high and then it actually acts as anti-opiate, the oens used in overdoses, whereas methadone is a full agonist and you can go higher and higher whatever you need to make you comfortable and stable. both give you a mild buzz, and both are complete hell to get off of. sub is just as hard no matter what anyone else says. its just as hard as methadone, its opiate withdrawal times two months. it *****.
and both are horrible to get off of, they both produce profound brutal withdrawals that last for months. The only difference is that methadone is a full agonist and your dose can go up higher and higher. After about 50 mgs of methadone it blocks, like suboxone, the effects of other opaites so it defers abuse of other opiates.
First you need to calm down and relax......this stuff isnt a fast or easy fix. Might help if there was a little more information. How many of what strength are you doing? Almost a year.....sounds to me like you are starting withdrawls when your mind races. Its actually a classic panic attack and is quite common when quiting a narc. Check out the health discussions at right side of page. Look up the Thomas recipe and Amino Acid Protocols...and read them. Then think about using them.
I had to as well. Valium is the weakest of the xanax, klonopin etc. Trazadone workd very well to and least addictive but can be a but groggy at first in morning. 10mg of valium is about 1mg ativan comparable so 5 is very little and wont or shouldt cause you issue very short term. I would steer clear of ambien.
I'm not sure that suboxone is the correct route for you to be honest. What worries me is the dose of valium that you're taking per day. You can't quit that cold turkey as it will cause seizures and could actually harm you. Methadone and suboxone aren't quit fix w/d meds is the deal. You can't take them for a few days during the w/d and then just put them down, they don't work like that.
It came up positive for benzos(Valium,Xanax,etc...). They do not tolerate u taking benzos and methadone,b/c obviously it is extremely dangerous. So they dropped me from 150mgs to 70mgs, which will for sure put me in withdrawal within the next 2days. I told the doctor it had been almost a month ago since I had taken this valium, and he might as well as called me a liar. We all know being drug addicts predisposes us to be liars also.
ya know we are are not suppose to give taper advice but I would taper the methadone first as the Valium will help with the adjustments. Once off this I would work on the Valium it is a long slow taper like the methadone. the cigs I can not advice as I still smoke. I just want you to know you have been heard and will find a good niche here as we have many members that are going through the same thing.. hey dude be really careful mixing methadone and valium its a deadly combo and if you mess up you dont get a second chance...good luck with your withdrawal its tuff
but it is doable you just got to be ok without being ok for a wile but it only last a few days
then you will be thew the worst of it hang in there ......

Hi,the only tell tale signs is when he does his urin-test at the methadone clinic.diazepines are dangerous when mixed with methadone,as a person can develope respiratory problems and go-under.If you have concerns ask to accompany him to the clinic and sit in on the results of his urine-test. They test a patients urine every time the dr. issues a neww RX.If he agree that theres no problem with confidentiality the dr. will advise you on his progress.
I think the methadone withdrawals are better but the Valium and OxyContin withdrawals are horrible! Can't sleep or eat and the anxiety is crazy. Need advice for sleep, I have tried meditation, journaling, reading NA material, hypnosis cd, sleepy time tea, 150 mg trazadone 2 benedryl and a melatonin, calling others in recovery. I am on day 5 of no sleep. My record is 9 daysin a row. About days 5 or 6 my sight starts to act strange the carpet starts waving like water.
hi guys, i recently started postin on this site after relapsin on heroin in november ,since christmas my habbit has been outa control, (£60 per day) ive tried over and over to cut it down but after 1-2 days im using the same again, i cant do anything without it wich is so hard because nobody knows iv relapsed ,the last 2 days ive been preparing to go cold turkey, im so determined now i cant fail, today i obtained 60 mgs of methadone and 50×10 mgs of valium i also have lots of vitamins , imodium
