methadone and recovery

ve just, yesterday, taken my last dose of methadone linctus. Been on heroin and methadone for 20 years, but have been totally stable on meth for 3 now. It's taken the 3 years to get down from 80ml, more through fear than anything else, but I've also been gently pushed by my counsellor. I got right right down to 1ml, which i took for a week. I know 1ml is a ridiculously small amount, but it made a dfference, psychologically.

I was once on 40mg of hydrocone a day. Then, methadone, starting at 20mg and with the help of a wonderful legit Dr. I found myself walking out the pharmacy with a prescription for 110mg a day. what a country. The biggest drug dealer wears a stethoscope and the biggest distributor has "every day low prices". Anyway, my chronic knee pain got me a lot of legal medication. Methadone, Hydrocodone, Valium, Klonopin, Soma...and a few others.

I would talk to your OB, your clinic doctor is going to put your addiction recovery before the health of your baby. I know it is very important for your recovery that you stay on the methadone but your OB may want to lower the dosage as it is not the best thing to be taking while pregnant. The reason they say methadone is safe while pregnancy is because it is a monitored treatment and it keeps you from getting pain killers or heroin off the street, plus this way you know it is clean.

I have have been on methadone & zanax for 7yrs 40mg methadone & 31/2 mg zanax and slowly tappering off the methadone 5mg a week to reach 30mg to get on bupenorphen for 1to2 months so i can get off methadone because of longer w/d so i have heard i would appriciate any info thanks

Ive never detoxed from methadone so I dont know how you feel but Ive read many peoples posts on this forum and it sounds pretty bad. The weekend tends to be slow at times....but Im sure someone will come along soon. Just wanted to congratulate you on the 7 days....it is a huge milestone....everyday clean should be honored! One more question I have is if anyone can tell me why some people decide to switch to subs from methadone towards the end of recovery? Is it easier to get off than methadone? Is it better? I know some say to make the switch when ur methadone dose is at 20mg or lower so its easier. This forum has been a great resource for me during my recovery and I want to thank you all for ur advice.

I will say this, when I quit methadone, using 20 days of subs to detox, I sure wish I had been alone. I raised my kids the first 10 years on methadone, it was very difficult to focus on my own recovery and focus on being a good lover and parent. Not saying I didn't do it, but it sure made it hard to focus on me. I don't know what you should do, but I have decided to stop hiding.

My husband is on methadone and no it won't show up he is on probation he gets dropped twice a mth..and if your getting it from a Dr they can't violate you.the judge will like that your getting some sort of treatment..

Should I keep going on this path of nightmares, anxiety, and depression or should I consult a methadone clinic? It seems stupid to do that now having been detoxed of opiates for so long but it seems like its still an issue. I moved away from my home and CT for weeks to stop. It is normal to drink the methadone in Europe. When people are in the program with regular urine test they start with treatment of hep C with no problem, and they think that is positive. If the user inj heroine, the hep.C doctors want the user to start with methadone or Buprenofin before treatment start. Then is Ok to start with treatment of hep.C I think the inj. is not positive to the liver.

I work at a methadone clinic and can tell you from just what I see and hear the majority of the people on it do gain weight! What about going to an inpatient detox? Do you have insurance? Being inpatient could also help with the other issues and start to get you on the road to recovery!!! Please keep posting and let us know how you are doing!!

Hey everyone, today is the 7th day off methadone for me, and I have like THE WORSE aches ....like in my bones, it's not like the rls. It just totally feels like it's my bones in my lower back, hip bones and really deep in my knees. It hurt sooooo BAD last night I was crying! Have any of you had this? The rls has calmed down now...it's just the horrible aches that feel so deep in my bones.

i tried methadone for as a sub for the hydro's for chronic pain and it actually caused more pain. i got this strange sharp pain between my shoulder blades that radiated down my arms and into my hands. i have carpul tunnel syndrome so i thought it was just a flair up, but i got worse and worse. did my usual acupuncture for the carpul tunnel which works well when it flares up and nothing, it didn't help at all.

i am a recovering heroin addict using methadone as my my recovery method and i have diabetes 2 and take insulin daily as well, i take 100mg methadone liquid and 20 units of Humulin N type insulin once nitely. during the day i seem ok and around 5 or 6 pm i start to go thru withdrawls really bad to wher i want drugs so far i forced myself to go to bed and havent used again i been clean since the day after thanksgiving this year a few months.

Is it not possible to follow the taper off of methadone and have her get into a recovery program? IMO...your going to be spinning your wheels because she's going to have to taper and come off of the suboxone as well. You're literally switching from one replacement drug to another? Once she tapers off the methadone...why start up again with another drug she will have to remove eventually anyways? Most people on this site have been exactly where your wife is now....stuck!

t beat yourself over getting pregnant on the methadone. many woman have been pregnant on methadone and had a healthy pregnancy. yes you will beable to continue your detox after you give birth. they act ually use breastfeeding to help the baby with withdrawal after birth. the doctor told you that you cant breastfeed? look up breastfeeding and methadone. it is encouraged to help wean the baby. are you comfortable with your ob? if not I would look around for another.

She had hydromorphone, methadone, and fentanyl patches 100mcg. I would cut the patches open and suck out the med. I was taking the hydromorphone and methadone together when I ran out of oxy's. Hi there. I think its great that you are on an addiction recovery forum looking for answers concerning your son and his unfortunate addiction. However i have to say first that there is absolutely no connection between a responsibly dosed (even an irresponsibly dosed) methadone patient and compromised liver function. I dont know why your son has told you this since it simply isn't true.

I have come on here and sought advice and read your stories I have gained so much wisdom from you all . Today is 45 days free from Methadone I am healthy and happy . Lately when I log on and start browsing I seem to notice my w/symptoms alot more and then get a little disheartened at how far I still have to go . I stopped taking vicodin and had some methadone to help with withdrawal. I've taken methadone for about a week now and have just a couple left. I've taken 1.5 for a day or 2 and then 1.25 for 3 days. I have 1.25 left. My question is, will I have withdrawals from the vicodin even though it's been over a week since i've been off them or did the methadone just mask that withdrawal? Also, will I now have withdrawals from the methadone?
