Hi and welcome. I was on methadone for 5 yrs( to get off the lortabs) and before I knew it I was addicted. Taking 120mgs a day. U have to ween yourself down. It took me a whole yr to ween down to 2.5mg then I went cold turkey. Take hot baths for the aches and try to keep your mind occupied like reading or music or praying. Idoling mind is no good!!!!! I have been an opiate addict for ten yrs and clean from methadone since 5/6/09 and clean from lortabs for 20 days. Still feel a lil rough.
I wish you and your daughter all the best, I went many stints with oxy's and methadone, been clean just over a year and I can actually enjoy life without drugs. Anyways take care and good luck.
Another thing, I inquired about methadone at a nearby methadone clinic and they want 100 up front and 70 a week, granted I am a bigtime pilluser but I get them from my Ortho surgeon so I only pay 10 dollars, thats a lot of money for me since I am a stay at home mom. Just venting.......
but I got addicted to pills(vicodin, loratab, oxycodone)after a surgery and couldnt get off them so I got on methadone, and it was the best thing I have ever done for myself, FOR ME it takes all thought of using away...drug addiction is a disease, and we are not bad people because of this... if I didnt get on the program I probably would be dead or in prison...
She occasionally also throws some methadone into the mix. Im just wondering what the effects of this are and if anyone has any information I can use to scare her to stop. She thinks shes not abusing it and its ok, but its not! She's only been to the dr once because shes scared to go because of what they will say! Please help!!!
Normally when someone takes methadone they nod off and my experience with Xanax is it can make you forgetful and sleepwalk and fall asleep wake up the next day not even knowing you had slept. Hope this helps...
My son is now four years old and my daughter is now 19 months old, both me and my fiancee have been on methadone now going on 2 years and it has truly saved my life and my family. I was up to 75 ml a few weeks ago as was my fiancee. I get four carries at a time to take home so i do not have to go every single day, meanwhile my fiance only gets one carry because if i am honest he hasn't been doing so well with the drugs.
methadone is synthetic herion, and it's long acting, and very easy to over dose on, because you don't think you feel it. I suggest you send it back and get something else, it's the worst withdrawal ever. If you keep it don't play with it and take it as directed. It's been 2 weeks since my last one and i'm still feeling it.
but when it comes to this methadone sh** I will tell the truth and not sugar coat anthing about it...that is what I wanted when I joined this forum...
My advice to you is to enter a methadone program and continue the methadone treatments for a period of time. You must make up your mind that you want to quit. It sounds as though you have not reached that plateau. methadone should be accompanied by counseling from a substance abuse counselor and twelve step meetings are a must. These two treatments are available at most methadone clinic. Make up your mind and go you life WILL improve if you get legitimate help from a well rum methadone clinic.
She is now in the hospital and on methadone. She is set to be discharged soon and expects to come home. I am having trouble accepting this. She is still reluctant to be honest with me about the extent off her addiction so I have been forced to search for the answers myself. I've come to find out that she was using primarily when I would leave for work, having friends of hers come to the house. Through phone records, I now know that it is quite bad.
I have prior experience as a General Manager at a local restaurant and 75% of my job was to cook. I was also taking methadone while working as GM and would still be there if the owner did not decide to close the business. While I was GM my duties were to create weekly work schedules, manage a crew of 20+ employees, hire and train new employees, control food and labor costs, daily deposits, inventory, ordering trucks, cook, serve,etc..
Concerned now about pernament damage to myself after 4+ years of taking this "wonder" drug Tramadol. I've been sleeping like ****, but I'm at least dreaming again. i cannot recall one dream I had for the years on Tramadol. My challenge now is to somehow get rid of the 80 or so that I stashed at my Mom's house, thinking of course at the time I stashed them that I paid for them so I cannot throw them away.
for opiate addiction.I go every day to my methadone clnic and dose daily. I have been on methadone on/off for 4 1/2 years. I have been on this time for 2 years and 2 months and have asked numerous times for a detox. I have also detoxed AMA before, going down 5mg's every other day. I was @ 50mg's then. I might be able to get a theraputic detox ( not to be an *** but is there a such a thing?) but my dose is @ 120 mgs. OH YEAH! Anyways I want to just be done and off this ****.
After reading this I went back and read your other post. When you talk about Meth are your referring to methamphetamine or methadone? Because the "voices" you hear and the turning off of the light so no one can see you seems like you would be talking about methamphetamine. If that's so, you may want to seek professional help. I grew up with many friends on methamphetamine who started hearing voices while on meth and they continued even after quitting.
This class of drugs includes heroin, morphine, codeine, methadone and oxycodone (Oxycontin).
I would just say ok I will not use untill this show on tv is over, ok I will not use untill I have read ten full medhelp threads, I can even remember when I was in a really bad spot and I had a friend come over and take my phone and car keys for the whole day and night. The more days I had clean the more meetings and treatment I did it was like practice being clean till it becomes inate. So practice practice practice to each and everyone of us.
I have over 2800 posts, 127 friends, 663 days off methadone, many hours with a therapist, doctor, addiction classes, group meetings, 12 step meetings, and physical therapy. I was told that it would likely take me take 2 years to actually get back to myself again and quitting drugs was not enough. Well, this last month or two has been amazing. I finally feel satisfied, so here's a quick version of how I got here. I started drugs at 11, pot was my first drug, it was the gateway drug to alcohol.
I need answer because this is my grandson and I am searching for answers as to what caused this.
IM A little confused are you using methamphetamine or methadone....its not uncommon to gain weight on methadone not much you can do about it till your ready to quit I lost 70 lb when I went off it 15yr is a long time but we had a guy that was addicted 17yr do it and a girl who had 12yr on it...

Good morning, welcome & thank you so much for reaching out! I'm really glad to hear that you haven't used since you posted. Good for you! I want you to know that you're not alone. You're in the right place. Miracles happen here. You can beat this thing & have a healthy baby if you want it badly enough & are dedicated & clear about what you'll have to do going forward. As you know, Meth is a terrible drug. You mentioned that you've previously miscarried.
There appears to be no upward limit to tolerance, in theory anyway, well until the level of opioids in the plasma begins displacing that plasma to such levels that it does indeed have a toxic effect, but there is no direct toxic effect from most opioids (save for a few exceptions, methadone and pethadine for example), but as I said, there are analogues of fentanyl so powerful that 1mg of it would kill many 1000s of opioid knaive people, so the sky is the limit.

By 'meth', I assume you are referring to methadone? Or to methamphetamine? methadone binds to proteins in the body and takes a long time to clear, but I cannot imagine it being around for two months. Is it possible you wore clothing that had the drug on it-- from sweating, or from something else? For example, if you carried methadone in a pocket and reached in the pocket, you could transfer traces onto your hand that then get transferred to somewhere else.
I am really understanding more and more the mental aspect of the process. The back and forth, just one, the rationalization and the telling myself it won't matter, when I know darn well that it does. That torture was worse than anything else I have experienced so far. I hope I never have to go through this again, but I know that is nothing but wishfull thinking.
I kept going back trying go figure out where he mentioned methamphetamines, and the only thing I could figure out was rachelln thought methadone and methamphetamine are the same thing! Anyway, opioid addiction is one of the hardest to overcome. It's chemical structure is very similar to heroin. James, I wish you luck, but you can do it!
