Methadone and klonopin interaction

Common Questions and Answers about Methadone and klonopin interaction

methadose

i am currently on 60 mgs of methadone a day and 1.5 mgs of klonopin, trying to wean down to nothing. i was at 4mgs of klonopin a day and 4 mgs of lorazepam a night. now im down to 1.5 mgs of clonazepama dn 23mgs of lorazepam. i dont ever have any problems with the two but i personally know ppl who have died from benzo and methadone combos.
I have been on Benzos (Xanax, klonopin, Valium) and Methadone for 9 years now and no adverse side effects! The doctors urge people to keep them apart because you can overdose if not careful. But, you can overdose on almost anything with Methadon and I have a bottle of tramadole here with 500 in it and it's just trash cause I know it can put you into withdrawals!
Is that safe? The only interaction that i am worried about is the methadone. I was kinda bad and gave all all my klonopins to a friend (at the time she needed it, but I do have seizures so i must take benzo's), All i had let was 1.5 mgs of Klonopin, 0.2mgs Chlonodine, 1 mg ativan (another pill i found with the tramadol)., the 200mg Seroquel ( well right now, i cut them in half i i dont need it), Its hard to pee at the clinic when they have the random urins, and that 50 mg Tramadol.
Now, if a doctor prescribed this knowing about the methadone, then you need to go with that. You could also google interaction of Klonopin with Methadone. Have you taken it yet? How do you feel?

You need to TAPER the benzos. That is the klonopin and xanax. The methadone needs to be tapered too. The WD from it may not have even started yet. Please talk to your doctor soon, but you need to NOT go cold turkey from the xanax and klonopin, ok?
he is weaning me off my klonipin before he put me on the sub but right now Im on mantience methadone 150 mg a day and adderall and klonopin and im ok
Hi and Welcome Tramadol Warriors, Please come on in and make yourself comfy. All are welcome.
My brother is 22 (still living at home), former alcoholic, gambling addiction, used cocaine even after his girlfriend broke up with him because of it, used Oxycotton for almost a year until he OD'd with about 320mg in him, has been on Methadone for a year and is now at 100mg, and recently started on Lithium, clonazepam, Risperdal, and Adderall (not allowed to take Ritalin anymore, got caught snorting it on multiple occasions).
Hi Everyone, We're so glad to see you here. Please come in and make yourself at home.
nurses and they said defiately no methadone and no valium. Since then I have gone up to those high doses with some days less. Right now I have 150 40's left and that will be it.... What do you recommend I do... I got the methadone from the street as I don't know how to find a dr. that will prescribe it. Do you think the meth is the best way to go? thanks for the responses everyone... I'm new here but already see how much people are willing to help... PS> what about valium and clonidine.

Valium (or another benzodiazepine such as Klonopin, Librium, Ativan or Xanax). Of these, Valium and Klonopin are best suited for tapering since they come in tablet form. Librium is also an excellent detox benzo, but comes in capsules, making it hard to taper the dose. Ativan or Xanax should only be used if you can't get one of the others. 2. Imodium (over the counter, any drug or grocery store). 3. L-Tyrosine (500 mg caps) from the health food store. 4.

It makes me very angry that these Doctors know and aren't telling people. I don't believe that they are ignorant. I've been over and over it again and again. It makes no sense that I would know more as a user of the drug than they would. There's so little on Tramadol or Ultram on the web. Tons on other drugs. Ok so the most alarming part of the Tramadol we would think would be the fact that it is a synthetic opiate. It's a Narcotic. It's just been slipped thru the schedule.

I was taking 10-15 mgs of klonopin daily, and stopped cold. I really don't reccommend this - it was horrible. I was w/ding from oxycontin at the same time, but I think that the benzo w/d symptoms were worse than the opiate withdrawals. I didn't sleep for 23 days STRAIGHT. Ended up in the ER. I saw people tapering for a year with your dosage on newsgroups.
Sounds too good to be true. (AND IT IS!) The fact is, there's already pain killers here in the house and I'm not going to take any of those either. I'm not taking anything. I'm going to ice it, lay down, rest and realize that my body has been thru a heelllla fight and it just needs a break, a breath. A moment. A freakity frackity day off. I've been in a tough battle for 21 solid cold turkey days and before that; the taper AKA "Let the pills run out....

It's going to be ok.
I've only been on this forum since last week, when I was home from work sick, but I find myself eagerly coming to it every evening to find out who's saying what about what. And learning new things. I'm getting to know different people by name. I know I'm in a little different position than most of you because I'm not going through any really hard times right now regarding addictions, but I'm still an addict and I identify a lot with what people say, as well as learning a lot more pharmacology.
I went to my GP complaning of no sense of smell, saw a surgeon and surgery was recomended, I was given a prescription for Prednisone, a steroid, this gave me some sense of smell, and here's the but, I had the operation and still could not smell, so more Prednisone, well the upshot is that the steroids have caused my Osteo-Necrosis, this is when the heads of the long bones die, so have now had core decompression on one hip and the other totally replaced. Oxycontin.
Many docs do not want to introduce another addicting drug into the fold. I have seen here where it was suggested to someone to try klonopin and trazodone, which is absurd and rather dangerous. It is one or the other. Trazadone has sexual side effects for many......the biggest for men being not being able to ejaculate. I have personally experienced this, so needless to say, the trazodone went down the toilet. I don't feel comfortable with something having such a profound effect on me.
