Avatar f tn I have detoxed from methadone many times and have now been off of it and all dope for 6 years. I believe and many addiction docs also believe, that longer slow tapers are a waste of time and acually may draw out the misery. I think you could drop 5 per day but you probably won't want to do that so just bear in mind, the real detox doesn't start until a few days after your last dose.
Avatar n tn As she was there a methadone user overheard her concerns and sold his methadone prescription to her. You can put the rest of it together from here.... It been two years now. I did find out that when she went to get medical advice they did stabilizer her at 100 mg a day. She says she is now down to 50mg a day and trying to ween 5mg at a time. Mind you I talked to her before about weaning and I thought she was much lower than that.
Avatar f tn ) My mom and I rushed to the nearest Walgreens to fill a prescription of Ativan. This is methadone withdrawal. and I have a migraine. About 28 million Americans have migraines, according to a report from the Albert Einstein College of medicine in New York. Studies show that as many as 6% of all men and 18% of all women have had a migraine at one time or another.
Avatar f tn life is much nicer now that I don't have to plan stashes for vacations, or look up various methadone clinics between home and relaxation. Its nice to be free.
Avatar n tn My husband is on day 6 methadone free and he's starting to feel a little better. Day 1 and 2 weren't too bad, day 4 was the hardest. My hubby's been taking imodium for the diarrhoea, magnesium supplements for the restless legs and aching back. Vit B6 plus a Bcomplex vitamin. and phenergan to help the streaming nose and eyes plus it helps with sleep. and drink plenty of water. It's going to be a rough few days but keep us posted everyday. You're not alone!!!
212348 tn?1199668246 Anyone know of a good sleep medicine that doesn't give you a hangover the next day? I'll be detoxing from Heroin on Tuesday and will need some help with sleep. I believe they'll be giving me Subutex or Suboxone. I've had a little over a 4 month Heroin run and am experiencing the fear of having withdrawals during detox. Is there anyone out there that can share with me a recent Heroin detox similar to the one I'm scheduled for?
Avatar m tn my wife is on methadone and also has trouble sleeping and takes Nytol/benadryl (as both contain diphenhydramine hydrochloride, the same drug and depending on cost buys either). Anyway methadone being an opiate causes constipation and so does diphenhydramine hydrochloride. Because of this she suffers from severe and I mean SEVERE constipation. She often does not have a bowel movement for 5-7 days at a time.
198154 tn?1337790865 It typically lasts 3-5 days and fades off after that, but can last as long as a week (longer with opiates with a long half-life, such as methadone). I've found the fourth day to be the worst, and once you are over that hump you start to feel physically better. Then, it is time to deal with the mental problems that result. If you have friends that do drugs, you have to separate yourself from them.
Avatar n tn About six days ago, I was hospitalized for a reaction (itching-entire body) that I was experiencing from a medication (morphine sulfate) that I had been taking for about (3)yrs for severe back pain. Prior to being admitted, my doctor discontinued the morphine sulfate & prescribed methadone hoping to alleviate the itching, however after taking it only twice,I had a violent itch & discontinued it.
801188 tn?1241651226 Have you tried benadryl for sleep? Diphenhydramine. It is the OTC equivalent of vistoril that is used for detox. and it does work for sleep a great deal of the time. It is unfortunate but insomnia is a strong component of withdraws. Practically insomnia will not kill you. But that much codeine and a narcotic addiction will kill you. and you are probably not doing your liver any favors either. Think about it. and good luck to you.......
Avatar n tn Set your mind to it and just force your body to get up and get going.Hang in there, like theeagle said, methadone takes a bit to get past, but you are well on your way.All the best....
Avatar n tn I think everything is over and I clean up. I walk out of the toilet and in about 2 minutes time the stomach cramp and the fainting sensation comes back (I've fainted only once to date from this and was out for about 15-20 minutes). 6. When I get back to the toilet I have a really violent Diarrhoea episode in pure liquid state.
Avatar f tn I hope it's not methadone. I'm on my 8th off of it (again and yes I was that stupid) and don't expect to sleep till somewhere in the 20 to 30 day area. It's tough but you CAN wait it out. Hang in there.
225555 tn?1189759424 I was tell you this cause you can save alittle money by buying generic diphenhydramine hcl and it will do the same just trying to help.. have you tried melatonin it helps sleep.
Avatar m tn Doc says I have to take pain meds for good I say I want to be off of them she says methadone? Morphine pump. I say what the hell I'll just stop this madness once and for all I hope!!!! THey can't understand or won't understand.
175363 tn?1200949921 I am still sick but not nearly as bad. I quit the benzos and am taking ambien and a few herbal remedies and manage 3-4 hrs night sleep. I have no cramps or side effects except for intestinal. No uncrotrolable cravings for opiads although I have never had more bizarre dreams than in the last 8 weeks.
198154 tn?1337790865 in other words, don't think you can go on a 3 month heroin binge and walk away like nothing happened - BUT - I have been through this many, many, many times before - and I can help you reduce the pain and suffering to *ALMOST* nothing .. Now, how bad will it be? Well, that depends on a few things: *) HOW MUCH were you taking? Someone who mainlines a gram of heroin every 16 hours is going to have it a LOT worse then someone who pops a few Lortab every day..
Avatar n tn its only human to be afraid of the unknown - and the w/d's are an unkown beast right now for you. I found diphenhydramine to be really good for sleep...and also sleepytime (by celestial seasonings) mint tea relaxes you quite well. Hot showers will be your friend for awhile - helps sleep and helps relax you - - - many approaches to diminish the severity of the withdrawals .... just put everything together and you will have a good program established.
Avatar n tn I am on day 3 of methadone detox, and I follow the thomasrecipe & Amino acid protocol, also I have made a sort of sleep cocktail for myself. I take calcuim magnesium at bedtime, then i also take, valerian root, passion flower, melatonin, Hylands Calms Forte, Hylands leg cramps, Hylands restless legs, and advil pm. I may awake for an hour or 2 in the night, then i'll take more of the calms forte, and drift back off.
Avatar m tn As the previous two said, I agree with them. I am on day 4 of withdrawals from mostly oxy and hydrocodone, and a little methadone and fent (very little). The old saying: "The third day is the worse day," was true with me. Yesterday was hell, and the day before hell. But its more irritable then painful to me. I couldn't sleep or eat, and the worse, to me is that you can't get comfortable.
Avatar m tn I knew that you could not mix methadone and benzos. I did not know that you could not mix hydros and benzos. I know a ton of people on hydros or oxycodone and xanax. How did you find out that you could not mix the two????
Avatar m tn I am sleeping pretty good now and my energy is ok but I am having stomach issues and I am taking Imodium and it is working so far.Keep on going you have come to far to give up now!
Avatar n tn Let me add to your wiseness. I'm a studying psychologist, and recovering addict of methadone. Whether your aware, or not, suboxone is a drug usually given to methadone patients to get them off of it. In actually this 'substitute' has bad withdrawal effects as well...its like trading one for the other. However, getting to the point of your insomnia, things like Valarian Root and Melatonin don't have much affect.
Avatar n tn - 20mg zolpidem - 230mg diphenhydramine HCI - 1000mg acetaminophen - 1000mg+ ibuprofen - pot... idk not THAT much but a good amount im 6'1" and 220lbs, im not fat but my BMI is like a little over average. 220 would look pretty overweight on most people but i'm a generally big guy, big shoulders, football player etc. so once again, not very fat for my weight. pretty healthy, no health problems, just occasional heartburn/increased blood pressure when i take Adderall in the morning.
481089 tn?1208996306 Today is my 9th day going cold turkey, I was on a three month binge of prescribed hydrocodone (2 months), and oxycodone (1 month), and taking in about 40-50mg per day. I was trying methadone once weekly, and some other narcos; so mine may not be as bad. But like the two previous said; I think they gave you all you need to know. The Thomas Recipe is a big help.
Avatar m tn it’s also available generically as ‘diphenhydramine’; really cheap OTC at CVS, Walgreen’s, etc.
544292 tn?1268886268 Hi Friends, Please come on in and make yourself at home. Get ready, cause it's quite a ride. You can do it!
Avatar f tn Plus Calms, vitamin B1, and 5-HTP. Also detox tea. She's real sick and resisting me now. She wants to go on methadone and I won't let her. I have disabled her car and her cell phone battery finally died. Her boyfriend is also a user and she's wanting to go back to him so they can be sick together. I know that will never work. What can I do to help her?? How long will this take?? I am also caring for her 5 year old son. Please give me advice!!
535089 tn?1400677119 These are often prescribed for runners, sports injuries to joints, and those suffering from arthritis. Syva labs has recently reworked its Cannabinoid test and claims to have eliminated this problem. But a Science magazine article (July 8, 1988) lists Ibuprofen as cross reactive. Under the new government guidelines THC testing levels will be reduced to 50 nanograms. Many more THC false positives can be expected in 1994. Dristan Nasal Spray, Neosynephren, Vicks Nasal Spray, Sudafed, etc.
