Methadone and dilaudid

Common Questions and Answers about Methadone and dilaudid

methadose

Avatar n tn methadone is cheap and the exalgo and suboxone are both EXPENSIVE! 16mg of exalgo daily for 30days is $600 without insurance here in nebraska! where methadone is like $15 dollars a month. I liked methadone alot for pain management very little withdrawl symptoms but I ended up with a fatal heart arrythmia because of the methadone. I would slip into PVC's premature ventricular contractions which can lead to ventricular fibbrilation which leads to death!!
Avatar f tn methadone had longer, milder withdrawal, and dilaudid has shorter, more intense withdrawal. But the total pain is the same. A second thing, though, that pushes me to see you not having only 'physical dependence'... those people do not have near the trouble tapering the drug as do addicts. I have seen people merely physically dependent many times back when I was a pain clinic doctor; the people got sick and got angry, but they didn't have trouble stopping.
Avatar n tn i mean herion was horriable, day 1 to 3 crazy day 4 5 started to get better and i was sleeping by day 7 ,and that roughly lays out the same for dilaudid. now that is not for methadone and one of you out there can relate and answer my timeline question i know its differtent for everyone but i dont know how many more sleepless nights and endless days ican handle.
Avatar f tn So I was sent to a pain care center, you probably guessed this....So, they put me on methadone, and dilaudid...I eventually quit dilaudid as it did not help with pain...They switched me to oxycodone and uped methadone...OK, well it turns out I have one bad knee.I am scheduled to have knee replacement surgery on Novemeber 7th. I currently take 60 milligrams of oxycodone and thirty milligrams of methadone...
1659111 tn?1302459251 hi, I was recently in the psych ward at some hospital and I admitted I was illegally taking dilaudid. I also told them I took some of my husbands methadone. Turns out they called his doctor and eliminated his perscription! Is this legal?
Avatar m tn I was at his office for my monthly visit and he want to start me on Methadone 5 mg. twice a day and Dilaudid 4 mg. for b/t pain issues. Last week I took this Rx and I did not sleep at all. It also felt like my skin was crawling. The next am I had called his office and I told him about the above issue and he said to take Methadone 2.5(broke pill in half) and also said to take in a.m. and not in p.m. I am scared to do this b/c I don't want to feel like I did the other wk.
Avatar n tn This afternoon I had to level with my doctor and tell him that I had taken too many and I was sick and needed help. Having come out and told my doctor of my feelings was a huge weight lifted off my shoulders. He agreed to write new presecriptions for Oxycontin and Diladid though he was reluctant and extremely disappointed. My story begins with the fact that I have had 10 back surgeries. Seven surgeries last year alone.
11519729 tn?1419045607 Maybe I should better explain what I'm going through. I was on 60 mg of methadone/day. And on December 7th I took my last dose. No reduction, just 60 mg on Sunday and on Monday I took Oxycodone...which we found I'm allergic to! So now I'm on the Dilaudid, 4 mg every 4 hrs. And hearing that people are feeling withdrawal symptoms months after a last dose of methadone scares the crap out of me as I'm 63 and was on it for more than 15 yrs.
Avatar f tn Am I still suffering from methadone withdrawals after the 3 weeks of hell I went through switching from methadone @ 40mg per day to dilaudid @ 4mg three times per day? Then from dilaudid to patch and one Lortab 10mg? It's been 3 months and I still feel like crap.
Avatar f tn s only been 3 months. Withdrawal from methadone was horrendous and I had to move to another province to kick it. I've recently moved back and there's been a million triggers I've never dealt with since I've been gone. Thanks for replying I really appreciate it.
1549683 tn?1293990213 I am an IV dilaudid/heroin addict. At the peak of my addiction i was IVing up to 110 mgs of dilaudid a day (12mg at a time). I quit and went on the methadone program. I'm up to 120 mgs a day. People talk about opiates being a CNS and respitory depressant, but this stuff amps me up till i'm bouncing off the walls. My heart rate goes up about 10 bpm and i cannot sleep. I talk and talk and talk when i'm on this stuff. i become neurotic about things.
585134 tn?1218579114 the withdrawal is horrible and i have to work to support my family so ive put it off as long as i can, i took last week off to try and quit and i didnt use dilaudid for several days, i had 18 vicodin 5mg and i tried to kick with them but it didnt take so ive used just a few dilaudid and now ive got some more vicodin(35-5mg pills) and im attempting to quit again, i dont have any support because it seems everyone thinks i should be able to kick this in 2 or 3 days but the withdrawal goes on and o
Avatar m tn I find that withdrawal from narcotics are all similiar as I have detoxed from many forms includng dilaudid iv use and it is a b tch as are all withdrawals. Hang in there it is about two weeks before the it seems you can see the light at the end of the tunnel.......
Avatar m tn I was a pain clinic patient taking 80 mg of methadone for 12 years. In Nov of 2011 I tapered down and then went cold turkey. With methadone the WD symptoms don't start until 4-5 days after the last dose. But they last much longer due to the long half-life of methadone. December was pure hell. January I slowly started feeling a bit better. Then on the last day of January I went for a wlak around the neighborhood. Later that night I got severe pain in my lower back left side.
7857462 tn?1394795639 ll still be in a lot of pain as she has been slowly reducing the amount of dilaudid now and I have mobility pain and really bad leg pain at night. What I want to know is if there is a medication I can take in it's place for my pain and to ease withdrawal symptoms? I can't take methadone, had bad reaction to it years ago.
Avatar m tn Dilaudid, Methadone, Oxycodone, MsContin, Fentanyl and have weaned off, and back on, about 4 times in the course of 8 yrs. Currently I am on 150 Mcg/h Fentanyl every 3 days, 30 mg Methadone every 8 hrs. and 8mg of Dilaudid as needed or 4 hrs. and my pain is still not managed but I am getting through it, (my right knee replacement) which has been the worst pain yet. Over the years I've learned that I can come off of any of these drugs without a problem.
Avatar m tn Then I transferred down to dilaudid and commenced with a week long taper. In 4 hours it will be exactly 2 days since my last dose of opiates (a little bit of leftover fentanyl gel from the patch which was rubbed directly on my skin/throat, and a little bit of IR dilaudid). The thing is, my w/d's are VERY mild this time around! I was really expecting to go to hell and back with this fentanyl withdrawal but so far it has been 10x easier than my oxy withdrawals I went through last year.
Avatar n tn Is on oxycodone and heart medications. Is now talking totally off topic when having a conversation. Has been on both for awhile. Ex.
Avatar n tn dilaudid is an extremey powerful drug-8x more potent than morphine and 3 to 4x more than heroin-Im 22 and have been on and off oxy, methadone, dilaudid, morphine, fentanyl, etc. and just about every other drug known since i was 17.....None of which were for pain.....STAY FAR, FAR AWAY if you can....made a mistke of doing dilaudid iv for the first pain killer i did and that was 05".....still fighting the battle.....it led to the worst drug addiction over the past four to five years....
Avatar m tn I've been on opiates since 07..mostly methadone..I went CT off it at 20mgs was very bad time.ok I was on 30 mgs of these perx 5 yrs now..my highest dose 40mgs..ok I tapered to 12mgs..ive been tapering 2.5 mgs every 7 days..I was thinking if I got to 5 mgs do it 14 days. Avatar f tn The muscles in my bicep, tricep and forearm would tense. The arm would clench, the music would stop and POP, the arm would fly up and out, as if trying to right hook an opponent who wasn't there. Every 60 seconds for two hours -- until just before 3:45 -- I'd swing away into the dark. Until the left arm got in on it. By 7:30 in the morning, I wasn't a championship boxer, I was a retarded pigeon with defective wings.
Avatar f tn You need to get on methadone or subutex, I am on subutex and have heard a lot better things than the methadone but methadone is also safe for you and baby. I just talked to someone who was on methadone their whole pregnancy and baby was born with no withdrawals. Just don't get too worried right now because it's still early but you need to get help as soon as you can for your baby. Be completely honest with your doctor and maybe start looking around now for a treatment clinic! Good luck!
Avatar f tn I have came off it before when I was only on 30mg and was sick for 22 days and had a seizure which I have never had before. I took Roxys, Xanax, and Dilaudid before the Methadone and I think it was easier quitting them. Just be careful with the methadone. THe doctor at the ER said I was very lucky that I even lived through the withdrawals of 120mg of Methadone. Good Luck to you!!
1708849 tn?1308063972 I just read something about a methadone breakthrough comment from the methadone community. I took Dilaudid for my bad spinal tap and isn't that like morphine? That is not a breakthrough in my opinion; that is a bad drug to get on. I know it helps temporary but I was on morphine for 5 days and it stopped working eventually. I take oxycodone and tylenol 3 w/ codeine for pain but you people with chronic pain like me need to be careful with addiction.
Avatar n tn its been several months and i am still experiencing extreme pain in my sternum and in my ribs-i was on dilaudid 8mg which worked well, but now i lost my health insurance and cant afford the dilaudid. my dr, has been giving me lortabs and or percocet and nothing is seeming to work. what should i do? is there something else i should be taking that would help better?please help!!!
