33f, DM 2, Been taking Metformin XR 500mg 2 pills x2 a day. Started phentermine after trying invonkana, and trulicity to bring my a1c down. Mid January 2017 I started the phentermine. Towards the end of February 2017 I had ketones in my urine and was in ketosis. I was excercisin religiously and watching my carb intake.i was eating between 100 to 150gms of carbs. I was not on a ketogenic diet. After that visit i have been extremely ill. Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea.

My care is currently through my Family Doctor. My last two HA1C tests were 7.2 and 7.4, and creatinine was 1.1. I am taking Metformin XR, 1 gm twice a day, total of 2 grams (four 500 mg tablets). I take 1 gram in the morning and 1 at night. My blood sugars tend to run high in the morning and decrease during the day. I have no specific instructions whether to take at meals, with water, etc. Would it likely make any difference to take 1.5 grams at night and 0.

I do have asthma controlled, by albuteral inhalers, and Qvar steriod inhalers, aswell as taking Singulair each day. I also have Dysthymic which I take Effexor XR 150mg each day. I'm 4'10" & 98 lbs. s own and had no problems. Then in September 2008 I started Metformin 500mg 1x a day along with my bcp. In Jan 2009 I upped the dose of Metformin to 2x a day per my doctor. I stopped my bcp in August 2009 and now am just taking Metormin 500mg 2x a day. So far it seems to be working on it's own. I had a period in August and now a period in September. And they are close in time frame.

I've been taking Metformin 2000mg XR for 3 months and am just now getting side effects like metallic taste and gastro side effects. Same pharmacy, same Sando manufacturer. Is it normal to have side effects after a few months? I never had any side effects initially.

Like you, I started on 500mg once daily, and quickly increased it to 500mg twice daily. I had a period within a couple of months, but by July of August I had become more regular than ever. I now have a period every 5 weeks without fail. I hope that answers your question!

Well after 14 months and only one period im happy with the metformin... its only been a month on 500mg and i finally had a period. I will ask to use clomid if i dont concieve in the next couple of months!!

I am curious to the average time a woman is on Metformin alone before finding they are pregnant? What dosage are you on and for how long? I am currently on 500mg daily. I only have PCOS and not Thyroid or diabetes along with it. Just curious as to how the general population is doing. Hello, I started taking Metformin in late July for high testosterone and an A1c of 5.8. (Endocrinologist said I had PCOS). I gradually built up to the full 2000 mg XR week by week.
