Avatar f tn Why are you on metformin? Do you have pcos? I was on metformin too and don't remember having any side effects. I guess once it adjusts to your body you might feel better. Also, there are good chances of getting pregnant while taking clomid with metformin.
Avatar f tn i have been lucky with metformin, no side effects. However, some folks have experienced feeling dizzy, light-headed, tired, or very weak; A call to your doctor may be prudent. Perhaps the dose is too high Nonetheless a call will put your mind at ease.

317787 tn?1473358451 My sister developed diabetes a few years ago and was put on metformin. She has no liver problems but it did give her huge digestive problems for the first two-three months. After that her body adjusted to it and she felt fine for over a year. Then her blood tests came out bad in a totally different way. It turns out she is one of the fairly small percentage of people who develop serious kidney problems from metformin. She had to stop it completely.
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed with PCOS in August of 2010 and was put on Metformin, one pill a day to help regulate my menstrual. I have been very active and lost 100 lbs before being diagnosed, and so exercise and eating healthy are not a new thing to me. I exercise 6 days a week, and since being on Meformin. The medication is working with one problem, but I'm not sure why it isn't helping in the other area of weight. I heard that people loose weight with Metformin! So I'm stuck as what to do??
Avatar f tn Hm, so you are diagnosed as PCOS or they just started the metformin for the reason of the adrenal gland issue? I'm trying to understand. LOL I know things that affect any part of our hormonal system will result in some mood changes. Are you taking the metformin as they intended? Have they also considered clomid? You've been working with a fertility doctor--- and done all the testing and this is the only issue they see with regards to getting pregnant?
Avatar f tn I have been on metformin for 8 moths now and my dr just uped my dosage to 1500mg. So far it has not worked for me. I am still not ovulating. For me the symptoms were stomach aches, nuasea, head aches. They were really bad when I was getting used to the 1000mg. But once your body gets used to it the symptoms should go away, you might be left with mild cases of them. I found that my symptoms feel better if I am moving around and kepping myself busy but when I relax they get worse.
Avatar f tn I have read Clomid may result in autism in babies. Is it true? What are the side effects of clomid on baby?
Avatar f tn My results are always normal and my liver is very normal and healthy too. If Metformin caused liver damage wouldn't you think it would have affected my liver by now? As far as your recent glucose levels, I feel if you lost the excess poundage and got into daily physical exercise you can get your levels back to normal. If you slack off, however, your glucose may continue to rise calling for upon the need of medication.
225237 tn?1333138999 Metformin most commonly has gastric side effects, which do improve over tiem for most people. The other risks are very very low chance and should not be a concern for a healthy person. MEtformin is one of the first line drugs in helping to treat early diabetes and can be very effective. It is much more effective if you also work on your diet (low carb and healthy) and exercise regularly, and make sure your weight is optimal.
1500387 tn?1460740020 Of course, like any drug, Metformin has many potential side effects. The most common side effect is gastrointestinal upset, which usually only occurs during the first few weeks of taking Metformin. Other side effects include, but are not limited to, general malaise, a temporary metallic taste, vitamin B12 malabsorption, and lactic acidosis. It is important to be aware of these potential side effects when taking Metformin.

1187113 tn?1320691496 I did when I was 16. I was dx with PCOS at age 16, started taking it right away. I an't even begin to tell you how Metformin made me feel. I was bloated, vomitting, I think that is why I lost so much weight on it. So I went to the docs, and I told them that I wasn't able to handle the side effects of the medication. I am now 24, and I am Metformin again..I am on 500 mg BID (twice a day), and I have been on it for 3 months now. I am moving up to 750mg BID in two weeks.
Avatar n tn I have had to fight weight all my life, including the juvenile diabetes part. I used to rely on exercising alot - - skiiing, mountain climibing, running, swimming, paddle ball and exercise classes all worked. Then, I got injured and grew fibroids that crippled me until surgery and got injured again and finally I was okay and got run over. BUT, my physical therapist helped me find safe and adaptive gym equipment that I could simulate running on and I eventually lost 30 pounds and kept it off.
Avatar n tn Currently taking glipizide for high blood sugar, but is causing side effects. Weight gain, extreme low blood sugar, restless sleep. What can I take instead that will not affect the liver?
1508160 tn?1289920302 t know much about Rebif but I have been on Copaxone for over a year. The side effects are redness, itching, stinging, swelling at the injection site. There isn't any problems with the liver that I know of. There are some reactions for some that include tightness of the chest, flushing. I chose Copaxone over the other DMD's due to the lack of side effects such as flu symptoms, liver function.. Good Luck in your decision!
