Hi Ladies I just have as question about metformin whats the side effects some of you may have had? I start to take metformin today so maybe this will bring on my period. I had a natural m.c in nov 2008 and no AF as of yet.
Has anyone experienced any bad side effects from the hcg shots? I am administering them myself and just want to know what to look out for.
pills but am continuing the metformin, well, for the past two weeks I have excessive itching on the sides of my stomach and my shins and now it feels like my whole body is a big bruise, I asked the pharmasist and he said to go to an allergy doc but I really think it's the metforin, any help would be appreciated. I also had a cone done just this past friday, having severe cervical dysplasia and would love to hear any ideas on a natural way to remedy such things.
I was just curious to see if any of you have already wrapped up your 12 weeks of Incivek. If so, did your side effects get any better? Since I have to treat 48 weeks I have been counting down the days until the Incivek is over and hoping that things will get a little easier once this part is over. Thanks!
My doctor thought it was enviormental (exercise, stress...etc) as I just started to go do body pump right around that time. Every cycle before that was 30-31 days to the day!! So we will see.....
Also, be sure to take Metformin with food to lessen the chance of naseau. Look up Metformin and print out the side effects. Not all medication suites everyone. If side effects continue for more than 3 days contact your doctor and ask to be switched to another med. Make sense?
I have been suffering from this intense, though not constant itchiness of hands and feet just under the skin for the last 10 months or so. No Diabetese, allergies or side effects have been identified. I tried taking B complex Vit and these helped temporarily. Itchiness seems more pronounced after a shower or when it is cold.( By the way I love cold drinks and AC environment) By chance I discovered that wearing socks and gloves releives the symptoms within 5 minutes or so.
I also was diagnosed with PCOS (poly cystic ovarian syndrome) and am currently taking metformin for that. My grandmother passed away in her late 50's early 60's of lymphoma but I don't know much more than that. A list of my sypmtoms: Lymph nodes will swell and shrink periodically and don't always bother me.
Severe allergic reactions (rash; hives; itching; difficulty breathing; tightness in the chest; swelling of the mouth, face, lips, or tongue; unusual hoarseness); increased or painful urination; severe stomach pain (with or without vomiting); symptoms of thyroid cancer (eg, lump or swelling in the neck, trouble swallowing, shortness of breath, persistent hoarseness).
"Could this be caused from the diabetes, can I be starting to have a stroke?" The onset of Diabetes Neuropathy yes. "I try to watch my sweets and carbs, although I'm not always successful with it.." You need to try much harder to avoid sugary foods & liquids, foods made with white flour [breads, crackers, etc], white rice, starchy foods like potatoes. A poor diabetes diet will escalate your diabetes side effects. "Is there any OC meds I can take?" No.
I also have mild nausea, watery diarrhea, terrible cough, voice hoarseness and a reoccurring headache with sore throat. I have a lot of problems with side effects from medicines. 4 weeks ago I stopped taking most of my medicines, but every thing got worse. My dr. says people itch for years without knowing why. Again I do not describe it as itching, but a stinging. The dr. did do a test that came back with high RDW (16.4), low Lymph (20) and low HGB (12.2).

Any suggestions on better or not so better meds to treat beginning stage of type 2 diabetes? There appears to be many. All have different side effects, etc... I think my exercise and diet plan has held me off meds so far, but later showing higher glucose levels AM (>150) etc...
Walk-in Clinics and Emergency rooms will prescribe emergency contraception to patients without an established physician. Common side effects of emergency contraception are nausea/vomiting and irregular menstrual bleeding. Many health care providers prescribe anti-nausea medications which may be taken one hour prior to the dosage, to help reduce the symptoms. If vomiting occurs within 2 hours of the dose, the dose should be repeated. It is rare for the nausea to last more than 24-48 hours.
it was an unbearable pain, till they finally gave me neurontin, which helps take the edge off at least, but i suspect that med gives me some wierd side effects. Im sorry for the long post. i just have a lot of questions, and a doctor is a luxury that i dont have too much of. I just want to know what to bring to his attention on the few occasions i get to see him.
I believe this because our health was better before we started taking the thyroid medication. The armour thyroid med. doesn't give us any bad side effects and we don't really notice any positive effects either. I have read that if thyroid medication is taken and there is an underlying adrenal issue it will make you become more ill. Your adrenals should be addressed before given any thyroid hormone.
generally felt crap with metformin.... BUT when i switched to--slow release metformin-- wow what a difference! no awful side effects at all, i take extra kelp and seafood/iodine to help protect my thyroid, from possible future victoza troubles, as well as other vitamins and minerals cinnamon helps as well, good luck to us all. when is that stem cell cure coming ?
) Doc mentioned Prednisone and ironically after dreading the combo treatement, the side efects of steroids scare me more -- partlly because I haven't discussed this with many people and noticible cosmetic side effects or even mood changes could really complicate my life at work. NM66, I am so glad your wive is feeling better with no long term damage done. Would love to hear her tests went well.
14 log, geno 1A, would like to be somewhat savy when I talk to the doc again, if I tx, what are the long term affects of these med's on the body, and to what organs, ultra sound was not too bad, have almost consant ear ringing problem, some, itching, and bad afternoon fatique, but can live with that, but with odds of svr around 30% wondering what damage to other organs would be,have gotten the diabbetis under control with diet and exercise,so was able to stop the metformin, but it just seem's that si
She checked her palm pilot for side effects and said there was not data showing shortness of breath as a side effect and ended up sending me home with a prescription for Effexor XR 150mg. I went home and typed in EFFEXOR and shortness of breath and thank God I did because there were many sites addressing this issue. I called my MHFNP back on Friday to try and advise her I saw this on the internet.
Progressive liver specialists have been double-dosing for some time and a few studies suggest side effects are similar to normal single-dosing. I double-dosed myself as a stage 3 in order to give myself the best chance of RVR which I did achieve. As a stage 4 I wouldn't even give it a second thought and in fact would demand it if treating with the SOC drugs. Just be happy you have a doctor who apparently is up on the current literature and trends.
The downside to this is she now has a lot of acne and has gained another 8 pounds since Christmas. Another side of all this is extreme sensitivity to many foods. She recently had an endoscopy and found out she had a yeast infection in her esophagus. This is a condition normally found in people with suppressed immune systems, alcoholism, hiv, chemotherapy and after antibiotic use. None of these relate to her.
I wanted to mention, that not too long ago, my husband was getting cortisone shots in his back, and one of the side affects is itching in his genitals and upper thighs. Somehow it does something to the nerves there, and when he described to me exactly what I feel everytime this itching starts, I literally started crying because he decribed what I couldn't. His description was this; "it feels like there are bugs under your skin trying to crawl out.
I have been on it for a bit, slowly have gone up to 300 mg, slowly been having the wonderful weightloss side effect, but all my other side effects are oppisite of what is stated as what are probable side effects. Ok, no, I have not had any hairloss. As a matter of fact, if anything, it has been making my hair grow faster, and of that I am thankful, for I have had some mighty funky hair cuts this year. lol.
Hopefully you will be one of the lucky ones with few side effects. Post any questions for side effect solutions/remedies. We have a lot of experience in the side effect department and I think we have figured out some good solutions/remedies. The three months on Inc. goes by pretty fast. Once you are off Inc.,it gets a lot better, at least for most of us. Best of luck with your treatment.
My side effects were hot flashes, moodiness, breast tenderness, cramping, fatigue, nausea, and extreme hunger which lead to weight gain and I'm still feeling those side effects. Since so many of those side effects are symptoms of pregnancy it was very upsetting to find out I didn't ovulate and I'm not pregnant. Hoping for better results next cycle...
Some people do excellently on Imuran side effectswise, many do not, a whole litany of miserable side effects - including pancreatic tumors. There is very little data or studies re Imuran's effectiveness with AIP but it does have good results on autoimmune hepatitis. I'm so fed up with prednisone - messed up sleep, moon face, wild monster in stomach yelling for FOOD 24/7 and the fact that it has NOT as yet eradicated the AIP.
I have lost alot of weight, am taking metformin which dont normally have these sort of side effects, but i am also on anti depressants and sleeping tablets.
The first few days of taking the SSRI sucked big time. The side effects for me were dizziness and confusion, which triggered a couple of panic attacks. The numbness and tingling in my shoulder blade, back of the neck and back of the head got worse and spread to my scalp in general. It was bad, and I was freaking the hell out. So I took the emergency Alprazolam (basically Xanax) they gave me for these types of attacks.
It generally happens for no reason that I can fathom. It is a sort of itching sensation and then a sensation that there is something crawling under my skin. When I rub it with my fingers it disappears for a while but inevitably it returns within a few minutes. There is no pain involved. Would be interested to find out if there is a medical explanation for this!
