Avatar f tn Why are you on metformin? Do you have pcos? I was on metformin too and don't remember having any side effects. I guess once it adjusts to your body you might feel better. Also, there are good chances of getting pregnant while taking clomid with metformin.
245020 tn?1209657943 Yeah, it can be pretty nasty stuff as your body adjusts to it. I didn't have any side effects but some women get really really sick. I'm sure when I up the dosage again, though, that I may feel some adverse affects! I just recently started taking Met two months ago. I didn't have PCOS until after the birth of my 2nd daughter. I believe I caught it in the very beginning stages. I actually don't have insulin/glucose problems. Just abnormal hormones and some cysts.
Avatar f tn i have been lucky with metformin, no side effects. However, some folks have experienced feeling dizzy, light-headed, tired, or very weak; A call to your doctor may be prudent. Perhaps the dose is too high Nonetheless a call will put your mind at ease.
Avatar f tn Hi Ladies I just have as question about metformin whats the side effects some of you may have had? I start to take metformin today so maybe this will bring on my period. I had a natural m.c in nov 2008 and no AF as of yet.
Avatar f tn re not watching the fat in your diet, this med in addition to fat in the diet (after having your GB removed) can cause problems such as those you're mentioning. If you are consuming fats, try cutting back and see if that's of help.
Avatar f tn Hm, so you are diagnosed as PCOS or they just started the metformin for the reason of the adrenal gland issue? I'm trying to understand. LOL I know things that affect any part of our hormonal system will result in some mood changes. Are you taking the metformin as they intended? Have they also considered clomid? You've been working with a fertility doctor--- and done all the testing and this is the only issue they see with regards to getting pregnant?
Avatar f tn Kapalbhati -(Do it before eating) Push air forcefully out through the nose about once per second. Stomach will itself go in(contract in). The breathing in(through the nose) will happen automatically. Establish a rhythm and do for 20 to 30 minutes twice a day.(Max 60 min/day).Children under 15 years – do 5 to 10 minutes twice a day. Not for pregnant women. Seriously ill people do it gently.
1626928 tn?1378850167 HI, Letrozole is many times effective in women who show no response to clomiphene. Also the metformin will help in normalizing hormones in women with PCOS. If there are no results with letrozole then help with gonodatropins may be necessary. Treatment of endometriosis will depend on its severity. Consult an infertility expert. Do not get disheartened as treatment for infertility may take a few years to give results. Hope this helps.
1347961 tn?1276608932 I'm TTC and was put on 2000mg of Metformin, all it did was make me very sick. I even missed work because of the side effects. I was told to stop the medication and see what happened. I'm still bleeding, the only thing that has stopped me from having a cycle all month long was BC. Is anyone else having the same problem? I have an appt. to see the Dr. and just curious to what he is going to tell me.
415867 tn?1323365503 I was diagnosed officially last year tried Metformin couldn't take the side effects. Tried the liquid form Riomet. If you can stomach the the taste. After researching Fertileaid for over a year, I made my first purchase this month and started it 12/22. It is suspose to be the top for regulating your cycle, balancing out your hormones, and most of all, helping women to conceive. This is my last hope, we have been TTC for 6 yrs. I will keep you posted.
415867 tn?1323365503 I have taken it back when I was 16 (now 24), and I stopped because of the side effects. Since May, I really have had any side effects. I start with 500mg twice and day, now I am on 1500mg daily. I too have PCOS. As far as OPK, I have done the OPK for about 4 months. There are several times were I would get + opk. but Af would not come 16 or even 28 days later. On the box witht he strips they do say that some women with PCOS or taking Ferility Pill may have a false positive.
467721 tn?1208469005 you had was a withdrawal bleed from the pill (it would have been a progesterone pill) your doctor gave you. Metformin is commonly used in women with PCOS as it has been shown to facilitate weight loss and increase the likelihood of ovulation. Gastro-intestinal side effect (diarrhea and gas) are common side effects of this medication. I'd encourage you to continue to follow up with your doc.
Avatar f tn Metformin only has bad side affects if you: don't start with a small dose first, and then work your way up to the higher dose OR if you don't watch the fat content in your foods. I've been on it 2 years and never had bad side affects.
233562 tn?1282768382 Contuining to take metformin even after you conceive, helps to prevent miscarriage in the first trimester. Metformin helps lower blood sugar and treat insulin resistance in women with PCOS. I'm sorry that you have to go through this, but continue with your treatments and doctor's visits :) Metformin also helps with weightloss and ovulation :) Good luck!
604185 tn?1233960857 I have severe endometriosis and having trouble dedecting ovulation while TTC. My RE just put me on Metformin yesterday. I have to take (500mgx3/day). I'm starting with a graual increase and just one per day then up to 3 per day to cut back on side effects. My RE also told me that i will be on it thru my first trimester. I'm preparing for IVF in December, and the Metformin is suppose to increase my ovulation and quality of eggs. Hope this helps.
1000796 tn?1250093019 i actually stopped taking the metformin after a while. the side effects were too much, but i guess that not taking them could increase chances of miscarrying. no reason the doctor has given. he says that each miscarriage is unrelated.
