Avatar f tn B12 sublingual may help along with taking a B complex. Most if not all medications deplete vital nutrients like Metformin reduces B12. Look into nutrients depleted by medications. You may find out that many of our medical problems are just nutrient deficiencies or are out of balance. Many are low in Vitamin D3.Check with your doctor.
Avatar f tn Why are you on metformin? Do you have pcos? I was on metformin too and don't remember having any side effects. I guess once it adjusts to your body you might feel better. Also, there are good chances of getting pregnant while taking clomid with metformin.
Avatar f tn Life Extension has not seen any evidence suggesting that n-acetylcysteine would be contraindicated with metformin. On a side note, because metformin may cause malabsorption of vitamin B12, we would suggest taking methylcobalamin to maintain optimal B12 status. Life Extension offers this product in 1mg or 5mg dose; here are links to the description of this product: Methylcobalamin (1mg) http://www.***.***/Vitamins-Supplements/Item00536/Methylcobalamin.
Avatar f tn i have been lucky with metformin, no side effects. However, some folks have experienced feeling dizzy, light-headed, tired, or very weak; A call to your doctor may be prudent. Perhaps the dose is too high Nonetheless a call will put your mind at ease.

Avatar f tn Hm, so you are diagnosed as PCOS or they just started the metformin for the reason of the adrenal gland issue? I'm trying to understand. LOL I know things that affect any part of our hormonal system will result in some mood changes. Are you taking the metformin as they intended? Have they also considered clomid? You've been working with a fertility doctor--- and done all the testing and this is the only issue they see with regards to getting pregnant?
7944214 tn?1496616726 That rite there is probably some of your problem, sugar is a carbohydrate its carbohydrates that raise BG. Not just sugar, in fact most of the "sugar free" foods have more carbs than the same food that has the sugar those sugar free foods will raise your BG more than the sugar original food with sugar. IE pudding the sugar free pudding has more carbs than the reg pudding and will raise your BG more than the orig pudding.......
Teacher NO side-effects from Metformin - Lucky you!
393893 tn?1283551230 All of your advice is greatly appreciated. Unfortunately I took it upon myself to stop taking Metformin. My side effects were increasingly getting worse, I even started losing hair. I decided to listen to my body. We have a meeting with our re on June 2nd. Maybe they can put me on something else. I was still only taking one pill I can't imagine what my body would have done if I had worked up to taking 4 a day. It was very scary. Again, thanks for all the input!!!
Avatar n tn MUST READ THIS!!! I was referred to a neurologist for my sudden arm weakness. She asked that in my next blood panel, check the B12 level, it should by in the 500 range. I did and it was 0.83! I started a daily high dose B12 supplement and 4 months later it was up to 1407. I backed off to an every-other-day B12 pill and no problems since. Previously I wasn't a vitamin taker. The real shocker? My episodes happened shortly after beginning METFORMIN for a diabetic condition.
Avatar f tn I heard that if Metformin causes side effects that I should get extended release Metformin and I should not have any of the side effects; stomach problems etc.... Has anyone else heard this?
1500387 tn?1460740020 Of course, like any drug, Metformin has many potential side effects. The most common side effect is gastrointestinal upset, which usually only occurs during the first few weeks of taking Metformin. Other side effects include, but are not limited to, general malaise, a temporary metallic taste, vitamin B12 malabsorption, and lactic acidosis. It is important to be aware of these potential side effects when taking Metformin.

Avatar f tn Metformim is a medication used to control or prevent the onset of diabetes and/or regulate blood sugar and this is how it helps with these potential side effects of Zyprexa but you could discuss the specifics with your psychiatrist. What you describe are potential side effects of concern from Metformim so you should inform your psychiatrist.

475740 tn?1208262865 I was diagnosed with PCOS in 2005. I really want to lose weight and I know I gotta take the Metformin but it makes me very nauseous. The diarrhea I can handle but not the nausea, so I haven't been taking it. I see an endocrinologist Wednesday. I was wondering if there's an alternative to Metformin/Glucophage without the nausea side effects. If there's not how long does it take until you get used to the side effects?
