623922 tn?1223406991 t afford to go through another round of ivf right now my gyn prescribed 500mg of Metformin to help with ovulation. I know that I ovulate but she thinks the Metformin/Glucophage might help me. Has anyone been on Metformin that can tell me what to expect? Are there any success stories for people with a similar situation? Thanks!
780489 tn?1237669346 Often when people bite the bullet and sign up for the IVF, they relax and Boom. But never fear--IVF if properly done can work wonders for PCOS! Usually a preg test should be positive by CD28 although there are always exceptions. I would suggest resuming Metformin, there are some data showing reduced miscarriage risk in women on Metformin, so we usually continue it through 12 weeks of pregnancy. Good luck!
2193012 tn?1343046121 hi is there any body who is using thispuregon(follitsm) injection, hows this injection works and also taking metformin is it safe if we take metformin with puregon(follitsm) (FSH) injection.

I'm 26 and was diagnosed with pcos. my peroid have always been regular. I am over weight (242 lbs) and started metformin in october. since starting metformin i've lost a little over 20 lbs. do you think if i lost more weight i would respond better to the meds. 393893 tn?1283551230 I took it upon myself to stop taking Metformin. I was having terrible terrible side effects. The breaking point was when I started losing hair. I was just wondering if anyone else had to stop taking it as well? I knew it was going to be rough but things just kept getting worse and I decided to listen to my body instead of waiting to see what happens.
Avatar n tn I am on 2000mg of metformin and it took me 3 months before my menstrual cycle became regular.I have pcos which caused me to not have my menstrual for month's. But since I've been on the metformin I've been doing really good...it just take a little bit longer sometimes. I've just got done doing ivf and I'm still on metformin through my whole pregnancy. Goodluck hun!

325224 tn?1342795914 I am not taking any extra precautions. I did IVF with both of them.. Am taking progesterone, estrogen, prenatals, metformin, and baby aspirin. The metformin and baby aspirin is suppose to help with the miscarriage risk.
Avatar f tn Doctor prescribed Metformin and Progesterone to help me conceive. I am not diabetic. I am 21 years old. I had a son in 2015 but lost him due to pprom that caused a placenta abruption. I conceived him naturally with no trouble. Now it's hard and the doctor has no clue why. He said he wanted to try Metformin and Progesterone to see if it helps it's the least aggressive way to try to get pregnant.
Avatar f tn OK, I have irregular cycles and I also have PCOS, my ob said for my husband and I to. Start trying to conceive, my ob upped my dosage of Metformin to 2, 500mg a day and to stop taking my birth control. He said if I don't have a period within 35 days come back, well its been two days on Metformin and I have already started, but I was wondering how long do I have to take this before I can get Clomid?
Avatar f tn m really wanting to do an ivf cycle in dec. Do you think this is enough time for the metformin to take effect?
950954 tn?1271210887 The gastrointestinal symptoms may be due to Metformin such as gas, pelvic pain. If you are overweight, I think that Metformin may help in addition to losing weight. However, the most recent studies show that women with PCOS do better with taking fertility medication called Clomid then with Metformin alone and so it may be better for you to take Metformin and Clomid. Most people start with just the Clomid pill and try this for about 3 to 6 total cycles before moving on to IVF.
374593 tn?1257879950 I have been told the number one cause is PCOS and number 2 is endometriosis. I have been on metformin for three weeks now.. can this help with the rupturing of the folllicles? ( LUFS?) since it helps control the number one cause of this in the first place? THank you so very much for your time!

1473300 tn?1397588529 t get periods at all. I am on metformin to help with the PCOS .. It does help me loose weight and with the pain from the cysts on my ovaries. The only way that I am able to concieve is through IVF but there are alots of women who have periods and ovulate with PCOS and get pregnant on their own or with the help of metformin and clomid. I had a FET 2 years ago which result in my DS who is now 16 months old ..
Avatar m tn I too have PCOS and tried metformin and Clomid like RippedonScotch mentioned. The Metformin and Clomid didn't help me and I ended up with a Fertility Specialist as my obgyn could only take it so far. It would be worth talking to your OBGYN about Metformin, it helps a lot of people as does the Clomid. Your wife is very young and if you try those meds you might have great success.
