metformin ivf

I am taking Metformin and doing IVF. I am at the stage of IVF that I am going to go to retrieval soon. I was told that I had to take Metformin all the way through my pregnancy. It makes the cysts go away.

I have been advise by the IVF doctor to stop metformin now but have been advised by my OB/Gyn to continue till after fetal heart beat is found. What do I do?

hi, im concerned about my results with my hsg test. are my chances still high to conceive if my results were clear of blockage from my tubes??? i was also wondering if talking clomid & metformin er will help with the process??? and how should i take metformin??? should i start clomid and metformin together or finish clomid and then start metformin??? is there a particular way to take the combo medication??? i really need to get this clear. im so confused! your help will mean the world to me.

t afford to go through another round of ivf right now my gyn prescribed 500mg of Metformin to help with ovulation. I know that I ovulate but she thinks the Metformin/Glucophage might help me. Has anyone been on Metformin that can tell me what to expect? Are there any success stories for people with a similar situation? Thanks!

Often when people bite the bullet and sign up for the IVF, they relax and Boom. But never fear--IVF if properly done can work wonders for PCOS! Usually a preg test should be positive by CD28 although there are always exceptions. I would suggest resuming Metformin, there are some data showing reduced miscarriage risk in women on Metformin, so we usually continue it through 12 weeks of pregnancy. Good luck!

Hey ladies, my husband and i have tried ivf three times. we've only made it to retrevial once, due to poor response. I'm 26 and was diagnosed with pcos. my peroid have always been regular. I am over weight (242 lbs) and started metformin in october. since starting metformin i've lost a little over 20 lbs. do you think if i lost more weight i would respond better to the meds. I know some hormones are stored in fat expecially belly fat. Just wondering what you ladies think.

I ovulate 15th day of my cycle every month...... Metformin will help with your periods... Its very important that u get on metformin b/c people with psco have a higher risk of mc... Plus u want to stay on it when u r preg...

I took it upon myself to stop taking Metformin. I was having terrible terrible side effects. The breaking point was when I started losing hair. I was just wondering if anyone else had to stop taking it as well? I am on 2000mg of metformin and it took me 3 months before my menstrual cycle became regular.I have pcos which caused me to not have my menstrual for month's. But since I've been on the metformin I've been doing really good...it just take a little bit longer sometimes. I've just got done doing ivf and I'm still on metformin through my whole pregnancy. I am not taking any extra precautions. I did IVF with both of them.. Am taking progesterone, estrogen, prenatals, metformin, and baby aspirin. The metformin and baby aspirin is suppose to help with the miscarriage risk.

Doctor prescribed Metformin and Progesterone to help me conceive. I am not diabetic. I am 21 years old. I had a son in 2015 but lost him due to pprom that caused a placenta abruption. The only way that I am able to concieve is through IVF but there are alots of women who have periods and ovulate with PCOS and get pregnant on their own or with the help of metformin and clomid. I had a FET 2 years ago which result in my DS who is now 16 months old ..

I too have PCOS and tried metformin and Clomid like RippedonScotch mentioned. The Metformin and Clomid didn't help me and I ended up with a Fertility Specialist as my obgyn could only take it so far. It would be worth talking to your OBGYN about Metformin, it helps a lot of people as does the Clomid. Your wife is very young and if you try those meds you might have great success.
