Avatar f tn Thank you for the information - that eases my mind about that question. Since it was a Friday night, I didn't want to bother her doctor with questions that were probably minor. I told her last night she probably needs to see a doctor if her symptoms get worse - she sounded terrible last night, but ibuprofen did help with the fever and achiness. Sort of worries me that where she is living there has been a lot of cases of swine flu. Anyway - thanks!

1306788 tn?1334752651 Ok so I was diagnosed with PCOS February this year, we had been TTC with no luck, and that is what lead me to the doctors, after many tests was finally diagnosed and prescribed with Metformin. Since then, this month I finally got my first BFP, DH and i were both over the moon, went to the doc and she wanted to take me off Metformin straight away. I know of other ladies who were taken off straight away and ended up MC.

358971 tn?1330888975 fertilitymom is correct! Everything she said is right on. Metformin does lower risks of miscarriage, though I don't know HOW. And it is safe to take during pregnancy. Look, I'm not diabetic and I still take Metformin. My skin is clearing up and my hair isn't falling out as much (those symptoms are from high testosterone). So I know the Metformin is working. I'm currently on 500mg but will be doubling it in the next few days.

714128 tn?1249136386 I started to wonder if my blood sugar could be dropping due to the metformin so I called my endo and though he wasnt in the office that day the nurse insisted that I not change anything and that it couldnt be from the medicine because that medicine wouldnt cause any symptoms like I am describing. 161427 tn?1229911282 I would like to do a short experiment by taking my mother-in-law off Plavix for a few days while she is in her normal living conditions at the nursing home. However, I have not seen dementia listed in any materials related to Plavix, so no one caring for my mother-in-law takes this idea seriously. Does anyone have any experience with this situation? Could it be dangerous to take her off the Plavix for a few days? Are there any substitutes for Plavix that might work better?
587778 tn?1261397118 In Jan 2009 I upped the dose of Metformin to 2x a day per my doctor. I stopped my bcp in August 2009 and now am just taking Metormin 500mg 2x a day. So far it seems to be working on it's own. I had a period in August and now a period in September. And they are close in time frame. My first cycle without bcp was 30 days the next was 31 days, so not much of a difference and when i was on bcp I started on the 6th inactive pill.
