This question is not exactly about Diabetes, but because metformin HCL is used in Diabetes treatment, I would like to know of any of you has experience with this medicine. I was recently prescribed metformin to add to my clomid regimen. He said start with 500mg/day for a week, work up to 1000mg/day for another week, then 1500mg/day but my question is, what time of day do any of you taking the same dosage take it? Im not sure if I am supposed to take 500mg morning, noon and evening or 500mg in the morning then 1000mg at night..ect.

hello, I had this happen when I first started Metformin 1000mg daily in May 2010. I was told by my RE that as long as I bleed a little that is a good thng, its your bodies way of cleaning itself out. Have you spoken with your GYN? I was recommend you just talking to your GYN, since they know your medical history, and they would be able to determin if the bleeding you are having is ok or not. I too am not insulin resistant but i do take 1000mg a day of metformin. My doctor said my sugar levels were ok, but could be better.

The doctor then put me on Metformin. I have been on Metformin for almost a year now and my dose was increased from 500mg to 1000mg a day. I am have several dry skin, my hair keeps falling off, and diarrhea. But one thing I don't understand is that since I have been on Metformin for so long, it does keep sort of regulate my period every month. But my testosterone and triglycerides are still high. Now, I have to deal with this sort of kidney pain and back pain everyday.

When I got my colonoscopy my meds changed and I was being treated for diabetes. Metformin HCL 500mg was prescribed by my doctor. When I took all the meds in that I were taking she only opened up this Metformin and smelled it. She told me to smell it and it smelled like amonia. I never paid any attention to its smell. I am on my first round of clomid 100mg also taking 1000mg of metformin and overil shot. My question is I started on day 3-7 and am scheduled for an ultra sound on the 12th. Does anyone know if this is correct, b/c from my understanding it should be day 3 and day 10 ultra sound?

Usually when i take provera alone my period is pretty heavy and this time around (first timeon metformin) its really light. I have been on metformin 1000mg per day since August of 2004. The dr said I would be pregnant in six months. Well I got pregnant 3/05 and had a mc on 5/05. Then I tried for another 2 yrs when I got pregnant again 2/07 then had another mc 4/07. They lower my metformin to 500mg per day. Ok I have been on metformin hcl ER 500 mg once at night. It has been almost two weeks since I started the medication.....for the past couple of days I noticed something in my bowel movement.....its in my morning stool it looks kinda orangish an kinda like a small carrot that has white stuff in the middle. I know this is totally disgusting but I need some advice! Could it be the metformin being released in my stool?? If so, does that mean I'm not getting my medication like I should??

I was put on metformin 1000mg 2xdaily 1 week ago. I am wondering if their is something more I should be doing to help with ttc...vitamins maybe? I am not getting any younger the clock is ticking here. My cycle has always been little to none so is it possible to ovul with out cycle?
