Avatar f tn My mother takes it and says that she has an amazing amount of gas pain in her back and has been taking it for about a year now.
Avatar f tn I went to my computer and looked up bloating, Metformin, afib. All signs pointed to GERD can cause afib. And Metformin can cause gas, bloating, digestive upset. The pieces of the puzzle were put together. I just happened to have gas-x in my bathroom and immediately took 2. Within one hour the gas and bloating were gone and so was the afib. I literally got on my knees and prayed that I was on the right path to health.

Avatar m tn mild nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, stomach pain and gas. The gas is made up primarily of carbon dioxide, hydrogen, and may include methane, that is mixed with nitrogen and oxygen from room air that is inhaled or swallowed. The carbon dioxide, hydrogen, and methane are produced by bacteria in the large intestine while they digest undigested food that reaches the large intestine.
Avatar n tn Metformin (Glucophage) must be taken with food otherwise it may cause nausea or vomiting, gas, ingestion, and abdominal discomfort leading to loss of appetite and, of course, excessive weight loss. Your mother might want to switch to the long-acting form of Metformin, called Metformin ER, which has fewer side effects in patients. Please discuss this with her doctor.

950954 tn?1271210887 The gastrointestinal symptoms may be due to Metformin such as gas, pelvic pain. If you are overweight, I think that Metformin may help in addition to losing weight. However, the most recent studies show that women with PCOS do better with taking fertility medication called Clomid then with Metformin alone and so it may be better for you to take Metformin and Clomid. Most people start with just the Clomid pill and try this for about 3 to 6 total cycles before moving on to IVF.

No palpitations or afib.
Avatar f tn I have been on Metformin for about 3 yrs. I still get sick to my stomach and very loose stools and painful gas. Somedays I get no side affects and other days its unreal. Thought I would get use to it. I am on it for serveral reasons. No AF, cystic acne and to top it off type 2 diabetes.Since taken it,no skipped periods and no big cyst on my face, That last one is a blessing in its self.
467721 tn?1208469005 you had was a withdrawal bleed from the pill (it would have been a progesterone pill) your doctor gave you. Metformin is commonly used in women with PCOS as it has been shown to facilitate weight loss and increase the likelihood of ovulation. Gastro-intestinal side effect (diarrhea and gas) are common side effects of this medication. I'd encourage you to continue to follow up with your doc.

Avatar f tn I have been a diabetic since 1995, I have always taken Metformin as as of Monday my Doctor has told me that I have Chronic Kidney Disease and told to stop taking the Metformin. So how and what is my next course of action? I read on the web that I could control it by losing some weight and changing my diet. Any thoughts?
327405 tn?1223239755 Hello ladies, I hope everyone had a very blessed Easter! Here is my story... DH and I have been TTC for almost 5 years. I was diagnosed with PCOS over the summer and was put on Metformin. Since then my period has come between CD 32-34. I'm now on CD 36 with no signs of my period. My normal tell tail signs are lower internal back pain and spotting a day or two before my period actually comes. I do have sore breasts, increased CM and stomach cramping.
Avatar n tn headache, abdominal pain, nausea, diarrhea, vomiting and gas. Also, with the metformin...under the "less serious" side effects these were listed: mild nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, gas and stomach pain. That particular antidiabetic med says it "may" cause a build-up of latic acid in the body.....and a dr. should be consulted if you have concerns about that. Since both those meds can affect your stomach.....
Avatar f tn 75 Since I have been taking this medication my blood sugars are way out of wack. My doctor put me on 500 mg of Metformin once per day when the AC1 test came back at 6.4 . Since starting the Metformin when I test periodically during the day it has been as high as 156 4 hours after a meal and between 108 and 130 upon waking. My question is...could the Levthyroxine be making me become diabetic?
Avatar f tn It was slow in the beginning because of the side effects from the metformin ex. stomach bloat, gas, diarrhea, and ingestion. my doc still has me taking it and my birth control (nuvaring), although i haven't been trying to get pregnant yet, im hoping that when i decide to that everything will work out. I did experience a miscarriage back in 2008, so I'm assuming I've had PCOS for a while..

Avatar f tn I was recently diagnosed with PCOS and a week ago I started drinking pills and Metformin 850. Ever since I started drinking these meds I am experiencing sudden vibration in my lower abdomen. Their not really painful and it only last for seconds. It also happens whenever I am sitting or lying in bed. The vibration was really loud that if I put my hand on top of my lower abdomen I can feel the vibration.
1007532 tn?1332767926 Ok so I jsut got off from taking 75mg of Follistom and I am still taking metformin everyday. Yesterday I started having these really bad pains in my lower belly. it was really bad.. it did not feel like cramps it was more of like a shooting stabbing pain. it then went from the lower belly too the right side. and stayed. it hurts really bad and then it stops.
Avatar f tn Now my doctor did not give me much information but placed me on metformin 500mg twice a day. (Nasty side effects) I have a huge family history of type 2 diabetes and do not want to progress to having it myself. My question is prediabetes and insulin resistant the same thing? I was told I needed to lose weight..which I have been trying to do. I also started following the same kind of diet my diabetic grandfather follow which includes not consuming more than 45g of carbs per meal.
