604185 tn?1233960857 I am on my 6th IVF (and I hope it works this time!). One of my fertility doctors took me off metformin for 3 of my ivf tries and the results were much much worse. From everything I have read, it seems that metformin is a safe medication and you can stay on it all through your pregnancy (unless you have liver issues).

Avatar f tn So weve decided to give clomid 2 months if no joy were going for IVF, its all a little silly though with IVF when we went for our appointment it all depends where you live as to how many rounds you get, im entitiled to 2 but if i lived a mile up the road id get 3 silly right?? Also because of my age ((25)) they will only transfer 1 embrio at a time unless they only get 2 and i get a choice then weather or not i want both silly again right??
Avatar f tn hi, im concerned about my results with my hsg test. are my chances still high to conceive if my results were clear of blockage from my tubes??? i was also wondering if talking clomid & metformin er will help with the process??? and how should i take metformin??? should i start clomid and metformin together or finish clomid and then start metformin??? is there a particular way to take the combo medication??? i really need to get this clear. im so confused! your help will mean the world to me.
623922 tn?1223406991 t afford to go through another round of ivf right now my gyn prescribed 500mg of Metformin to help with ovulation. I know that I ovulate but she thinks the Metformin/Glucophage might help me. Has anyone been on Metformin that can tell me what to expect? Are there any success stories for people with a similar situation? Thanks!
557911 tn?1225980644 will probably start you on clomid and metformin before doing iui or ivf. This was covered by my insurance....only a $10 copay. I tried clomid first for two months and felt really crappy on it (I'm sure other people on here would agree) and experienced hair loss. Then I tried letrazole (similar drug to clomid) for one month before deciding to move on to ivf. I didn't get the results that I wanted, but I didn't have any weird side effects on it either! Good luck.
780489 tn?1237669346 Often when people bite the bullet and sign up for the IVF, they relax and Boom. But never fear--IVF if properly done can work wonders for PCOS! Usually a preg test should be positive by CD28 although there are always exceptions. I would suggest resuming Metformin, there are some data showing reduced miscarriage risk in women on Metformin, so we usually continue it through 12 weeks of pregnancy. Good luck!
2193012 tn?1343046121 Ive taken both meds for 3 ivf cycles and yes it's safe to take together. I have had good results with the meds. My 2nd round of ivf I got a BFP bug had a mc unrelated to the meds and just finished round 3 with same meds. If you have any other questions please message me.
439903 tn?1380137882 i go in tomorrow to see my dr for my 2 week check up, what would be the best medicine to ask for to ovulate since i have been told that i dont and i cant get pregnant on my own (which of course, it does happen and drs dont know it all) how well does metformin work? what others are there? ill try them all!!
1302038 tn?1439575232 And The difference between an OB and an RE is an OB is limited to waht they can do for you. pretty much its just going to be metformin and clomid. If that doesnt work for you theres not much more they can do. And an RE is a specialist who specializes ONLY!! in infertility. So most likley no matter what your problem he/she will find a way to get you pregnant. They will do all kinds of test to see how your body responds to different things and can also offer you alot more affective options.
Avatar f tn Hey ladies, my husband and i have tried ivf three times. we've only made it to retrevial once, due to poor response. I'm 26 and was diagnosed with pcos. my peroid have always been regular. I am over weight (242 lbs) and started metformin in october. since starting metformin i've lost a little over 20 lbs. do you think if i lost more weight i would respond better to the meds. I know some hormones are stored in fat expecially belly fat. Just wondering what you ladies think.
Avatar f tn In 2007 I got pregnant with injections and IUI, but than had a miscarriage at 9 weeks. In 2009 I had IVF but got severe OHS and was hospitalized so I had to wait a couple of month for a FET. On my second FET I got pregnant but had a chemical pregnancy. So I'm back to IUI. I just a IUI on nov 23, so I hope all is well. I wish you the best and I believe you will get pregnant so don't give up.

1848338 tn?1321970235 With the advent of IVF which bypasses the need for tubal function a more successful treatment approach has become available for women who want to conceive. IVF has now become the major treatment for women with hydrosalpinx to achieve a pregnancy. its actually form of blocked of ovaries its no point using clomid at this stage. clomid is hormonal medication to induce ovulation. if ovaries are blocked even if you ovulate. egg will not be able to reach uterus.
393893 tn?1283551230 t be doing actual ivf until Aug or Sept I was diagnosed with a mild case of PCOS, that is the reason for the metformin.
Avatar n tn So ive sbeen on metformin for a littoe over a month 1500mg and prenatal viatmins and im feeling discouraged and I need faih and hope that im not going through this struggle in vain... any success stories out there ??????
325224 tn?1342795914 I am not taking any extra precautions. I did IVF with both of them.. Am taking progesterone, estrogen, prenatals, metformin, and baby aspirin. The metformin and baby aspirin is suppose to help with the miscarriage risk.
Avatar f tn t afford IVF or IUI just hoping for a miracle. I am on 2000 MG of Metformin to help with menstruation and it works. Thanks for taking time to read this and respond. Stay blessed and I wish you all joy and happiness on your road to motherhood.
Avatar f tn Yasmin is normally toe best choice for PCOS. I was on it 2 years along with Metformin. I came off of it in August 2009 and started having regular periods on my own. If you dont have many symptoms, can I ask why you need birth control? Are your periods irregular? Too much bleeding? Just wondering, because if your periods are normal...then you don't need birth control. Maybe Metformin, as it helped with my cycles.
Avatar f tn I also have pcos and I had to take 2000mg of metformin for 3 months before my menstrual became regular. I know everyone is different. I justhad ivf done I'm in my two week wait to see if both or one of my embryos stuck. And also clomid helped alot and also letrozole which is also know as femara.
Avatar f tn I was on 850 once a day and then it was changed to three times a day. I've gotten pregnant on 850mg once a day twice going thru ivf but miscarried both times. It wasn't related to the Metformin. Starting off on 500mg and building up is a good idea since its so rough on the stomach. Best of luck to you!
Avatar f tn m really wanting to do an ivf cycle in dec. Do you think this is enough time for the metformin to take effect?
950954 tn?1271210887 However, the most recent studies show that women with PCOS do better with taking fertility medication called Clomid then with Metformin alone and so it may be better for you to take Metformin and Clomid. Most people start with just the Clomid pill and try this for about 3 to 6 total cycles before moving on to IVF. I suggest seeing a fertility specialist called a Reproductive Endocriniology and Infertility specialist if you have not done so already.
