Avatar f tn What does metformin do to aid conception is it the same as the metformin I take for diabetes 2 and what does clomide do x
Avatar f tn Hello, I too have PCOS and insulin resistance. I was on clomid but still not ovulating for several months. My endocrinologist put me on metformin as well and both my doctors agreed it might help with conception. I was also told to cut out simple carbs and refined sugar. After 3 months of metformin and monthly clomid cycles I finally ovulated in August. And amazingly I conceived the same month. Just had my first prenatal visit and saw the heartbeat yesterday!
Avatar f tn HI, Women with PCOS can have problems with ovulation and conception. Weight loss if overweight and insulin sensitizing agents like metformin will help with the PCOS. For induction of ovulation, drugs like clomiphene and femara can be used. If these do not help then gonadotropins can be used. Consult an infertility expert for an opinion. The answer is based on information provided. Exact advice is not possible without a proper examination and investigations.
801496 tn?1262575377 Is it possible that I need a higher dosage of metformin? I have heard that you should wait a year before seeking assistance with conception... I got pregnant so easily the first time around! What should my next step be?
Avatar f tn ll probably be cheaper to buy one thermometer to use for all cycles (rarely does conception occur the first attempted cycle) than an opk for each cycle.
Avatar f tn m diabetic and was put on a pill called metformin which is also used for something to do with cyst on the ovaries and it regulates women and makes them ovulate regulary and I was told it enhances the chances of becoming pregnant, please I need advices
1907238 tn?1340711313 ) you should also stop smoking (if you do) and stop or cut down on alcohol and caffine as all three can affect getting pregnant, good luck :)
Avatar f tn Dont let doctors tell you that you are too young for treatment its never too early to begin treatment for pcos if it is left untreated symptoms could worsen drastically. I dont recommend buying stuff online and creating your own dosage, you dont know how your body will react to clomiphene you could over stimulate your ovulation or harm yourself, consult a different doctor, one who is willing to assist you in your conception.
Avatar f tn Me and My husband went to the doctor ,she suggested us tests for the safe side and Thank God both of our tests were cleared.Doctor gave me metformin to reduce weight.does over weight is the issue to conceive?I have weight on my belly and stomach like upper stomach n lower stomach....Pls have a look on my problem and reply me. Avatar f tn Hi! Many PCOS patients don't have the usual constellation of symptoms. A very good friend of mine ( and mother of 3 ) had PCOS and is quite thin and fit--she has a lovely complexion too. If you were my patient, the first thing I would do is to (after checking the pregnancy test which I ALWAYS do ) treat you with 5 days of Prometrium. This medication should start your period and "clean out" your uterus. Then, I would start you on Metformin and Femara.
Avatar f tn HI, Women with PCOS can have a natural conception. However if you are having difficulty in conceiving then you should consult a gynaecologist for an evaluation. A systematic treatment will help you to conceive. Insulin-sensitizing agent like metformin and weight loss (if over weight) in combination with clomid can give excellent results. The answer is based on information provided. Exact advice is not possible without a proper examination and investigations.
Avatar f tn I have read about that. Being too skinny or too heavy can affect conception. Honestly though, these are just theories. When trying to have a baby, you feel like the moon and starts have to line up perfectly, don't you? If you feel your weight may hinder pregnancy, I'd try to lose some of it. Add exercise into your daily life and begin cutting calories and eat healthy.
Avatar f tn but i tried clomid 150mg daily for 5 days a month for 5 months. i was dx with pcos about 7 years a ago and im on metformin 1500mg daily . well on clomid i needed to have ultrasounds twice a month before starting it and well on it to see when to trigger and do iui. now im on my 2nd month of menopur 225 iu and a waiting my 2ww ....good to you and your husband dont get inpatient .
Avatar f tn After I got married we were able to conceive without even trying. My dr had me on metformin to help with the pcos and I had lost aprx 30 lbs before time of conception. I now have a healthy 4 year old. I've gained 50 lbs since having my son and just started metformin again a few months ago. I am 13 weeks late. No sign of a period at all. My first month missed I took 2 hpt... negative. Second month missed I took two more....negative.
Avatar f tn I was placed on metformin by my gyno even though I am nowhere near being diabetic. She informed me that metformin will help with the little chance there is for miscarriage. With having sexy time, from my understanding, just start having sex on day 10 and continue every other day until you either have a period or get a positive. That is what I am going to do.
1915587 tn?1330311933 i go back on the 7th for a s/g to check follicles again, and for pre conception blood work! i hope this is all worth it :) what am i thinking, it will be! Baby dust to all!!!

Avatar m tn Hello Doctor, I got married for 3 years, I got 2 abortions. 3 months 4 months back i came to know that i have pcod. I took diane 35 for 3 months. In this month doctor gave me ovigyn d table to conceive. how this tablet helps to me. I really waiting for children. please advice me how can i get pregnant as soon as possible.
Avatar f tn Depending upon what these tests showed, I might then prescribe Clomid or Femara to help you ovulate more frequently and speed up the time to conception. Sometimes Metformin is a good adjunct too. If you are overweight, losing as little as 10 lb can help too. Good luck!
Avatar m tn Hi, A little abt me, I have regular periods, no pain at all during my periods, I don't even realise I got my periods...Blood flow is less.... I get heavy periods only for first 2 days and then less and 4th and 5th day very very less... I never took any tablets or birth control pills...or for pain or anything else not even to postpone my periods.... Two years back I knew I have fibriods, my gyno said it was no problem at all as all fibroids were outside...
Avatar n tn Hi, I dont think Metformin is the cause for your problem. I have used it for more than 3 months and did not have any problem during AF. I have PCOS and hence metformin was prescribed for insulin resistance. btw why were you taking metformin?
Avatar f tn ok thanks for the info. by the way i got my prescription and i take 2 500mg of metformin a day for thirty days. i haven't started taking them yet because i haven't started my AF. and if i dont start i have to take another med. called aygestin and my doc said do not take them together so im going to wait and see if i start this week. last month i needed aygestin to start my AF because i hadn't had it for 9 mnths, due to the PCOS.
