Avatar f tn Why are you on metformin? Do you have pcos? I was on metformin too and don't remember having any side effects. I guess once it adjusts to your body you might feel better. Also, there are good chances of getting pregnant while taking clomid with metformin.
Avatar f tn i have been lucky with metformin, no side effects. However, some folks have experienced feeling dizzy, light-headed, tired, or very weak; A call to your doctor may be prudent. Perhaps the dose is too high Nonetheless a call will put your mind at ease.
325477 tn?1250551309 Thank you, I have no side effects, how long and what dosage were you taking Metformin for? Have you O before that time? It looks like I haven't O in ever and am hoping to O with Metformin, although my RE said that it doesn't go together...Im taking Metformin only to prevent too many follicles in my ovaries... Im taking Metformin CD 9 1 pill per day for a week, then 2 pills per day for a week, and then move to 3 pills per day for the rest of time....
1434731 tn?1382722384 Metformin is cheap. My daughter takes it for insulin resistance and many pharmacies have it for $4 a month. So hopefully you can get it for that price too.
1512722 tn?1313697879 Metformin is the most amazing drug, it's the reason I'm pregnant. It helped me lose 20lbs and ovulate!! I ovulated on femara but didn't get pregnant thus month I took only my 1500mg of metformin. I've been on metformin since October at 1500mg and never missed a pill. If you stick to it and exercise it could get you pregnant. I just did yoga/pilates I heard it was good for fertility and only started it this cycle and got pregnant. Good luck to you!!
Avatar f tn Hi Ladies I just have as question about metformin whats the side effects some of you may have had? I start to take metformin today so maybe this will bring on my period. I had a natural m.c in nov 2008 and no AF as of yet.

I am apalled...there should be a law!
Avatar f tn U need ur dosage upped I am supposed to take 3 a day but settle for 2 because of the horrible side effects I was taking them 4 2 months and lost 2 lbs something I thought was impossible for me.
Avatar m tn Reducing dosage of slow release metformin resolved the side effects but at a cost to my blood sugars which at fasting sat typically around 12 against a target of 5. Slowly reintroducing the full dosage helped but from time to time the symptoms return and I have to restart the process. It's a fine balancing act and routines play a part.

Avatar f tn Metformin does have some fairly common side effects, mostly gastrointestinal. For some people these do subside as their bodies adjust. However, you are on a relatively low dosage so if these don't subside soon I'd see your doctor and perhaps he will switch you to something else. But I'm wondering also if some of the effects you are experiencing are caused by blood sugar fluctuations, especially feeling confused and weak and shakey.
1360237 tn?1351816181 Also if your not on the extended release metformin you should be, it will lessen the side effects and then maybe they can increase the dosage if needed. It really depends on your insurance what's covered, but you can always call and ask. Your taking the lowest dose of clomid don't loose hope, they can increase the dosage, change to femara, or even injectables, there is always options...
Avatar f tn I am getting ready to start my 4th and last round of clomid prior to being referred to a specialist and my doctor won't increase the dosage from 50 mg to 100 mg. On the 1st round of clomid, I ovulated, on the 2nd round of clomid, I ovulated 8 days late, and on the 3rd round of clomid, I didn't ovulate at all and had no side effects. I have read that the dosage should be increased if you do not ovulate.
Avatar f tn Hm, so you are diagnosed as PCOS or they just started the metformin for the reason of the adrenal gland issue? I'm trying to understand. LOL I know things that affect any part of our hormonal system will result in some mood changes. Are you taking the metformin as they intended? Have they also considered clomid? You've been working with a fertility doctor--- and done all the testing and this is the only issue they see with regards to getting pregnant?
1167457 tn?1291860189 Hi everyone! I'm new to this group and I was just diagnosed with PCOS. My husband and I have been TTC for about 6 months and haven't gotten our BFP yet. My doctor prescribed me with Metformin. I guess I'm just wondering about side effects......also is there any food I should be eating or avoiding when on it?
950954 tn?1271210887 Thank you very much for your feedback. It was really helpful for me b/c I just started taking Metformin and my dosage was recently increased. I didn't think it could be increased more than what I am taking though. Did or have you experienced any side effects? BTW, Congratulations....Another documented miracle to help me not loose faith and hope in that someday I can also become a mommy!!!!....I am truly happy for you!!!!
