Avatar f tn Does anyone know what causes severe B12 deficiency and vitamin d deficiency? I am starting 50,000 IU tomorrow (twice a week) and I will start the B 12 shots (twice a week) for probably the rest of my life. I have been really sick and have some other symptoms that I have had a lot of trouble addressing. i have an unexplained fever and Blood Pressure that goes really high(180/120) and then drops really low (90/50).
Avatar f tn The MRI scan shows no issues - they have run MRI, CatScan, EEG, EMG, Muscle Biospy, Spinal Tap, all sorts of blood work and after three weeks have found nothing except some vitamin deficiency. Avatar n tn However, several months after achieving a dose of 1250 mg of the metformin ER, I am experiencing profound food sensitivity and allergies that have been further complicated by colitis, vitamin D deficiency, fatigue, and chronic hives. The fatigue seems to persist despite vitamin D supplementation. I've had so much improvement in my condition since taking the metformin that I would be very disappointed if I had to stop it.
Avatar n tn Could Metformin cause thinning or hair loss? I started two Metformin 500 mg a day last May. Went on a locarb, no processed foods or alcohol diet. Lost 30#'s. End of August, switched to one Metformin ER 500 mg a day cause my A1C went from 7.4 down to 5.2 in 3 1/2 months. I have thought of a vitamin or iron deficiency, but I eat a lot of healthy foods and haven't lost weight beyond the 30#'S I lost last summer. I read that some people on here think Victoza caused their hair loss.
Avatar f tn Just because everything "appears" to be in the normal range, doesn't mean it's normal for you. You're correct that your FT4 is very low in the range. It's only at 30% of the range, when most of find we feel best with it at least 50% of the range; but what stands out most is that your doctor failed to order the most important test, which is the Free T3 test. Free T3 is the most active thyroid hormone and has been shown to correlate best with symptoms.
1660049 tn?1326089018 There is a mention that metformin can cause Vit B12 deficiency. Also if you take an estrogen supplement it can increase your risk for hypoglycemia. There is a long list of herbs that interact with metformin, however, so choose a prenatal vitamin that does not have herbs. I would type it out but it is a pretty long list LOL.
Avatar f tn About 2 weeks ago I went to the doctor complaining of hair loss and tingling in my hands and feet. The doctor ordered blood tests and confirmed that I have a vitamin B deficiency. My ANA also came back positive. I was told to take a complex B vitamin and also go see a rheumatologist. Since taking the vitamins I am still having all of these symptoms and am now worried that the doctor might be right about thinking I have lupus.
Avatar m tn Since then other symptoms like tinnitus and double vision and a lazy eye have come about. could this be a deficiency in some vitamin as I havent drank in 3 years and when I did it was moderate but 10 years ago I had a bit of a problem. I stopped drinking to look after my mum who had cancer and felt fine for the first 2.5 years. Could it be related to alcohol or stress? I was diagnosed with trigeminal neuralgia by my doctor but I seem to be getting symptoms not mentioned under neuralgia.
Avatar n tn I take a med for my stomach that can cause B-12 deficiency so I have had those levels checked. They were normal.I have extreme anxiety. I do believe that anytime our bodies deviate from the norm, and b/c people who experience anxiety are so in tune with their bodies, that we can tell when something may be a little off.
Avatar f tn MRI comes normal and prescribed antidepressants and Felicita OD which have vit b.12. Let me know that May I have Vit. D and Vit. B12 deficiency.
Avatar n tn Because of the tiredness/fatigue, it would be good if you could get tested for vitamin B-12. B-12 deficiency causes the most horrendous tiredness you can imagine. I was diagnosed with pernicious anemia (one cause of B-12 deficiency) long before I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism and before I was started on my B-12 shots, I was so tired I could barely drive home from work most days. One day, I actually fell asleep on the way home and don't remember driving about 1 block...
417564 tn?1287982827 It seems very common to get a cold/flu while detoxing/withdrawing - could this be because of the vitamin deficiency our bodies suffer from? Incorporating a strong vitamin program in with your detox helps to offset some of the more painful effects. It is in anyones best interest to research the Thomas recipe, and I believe it is Avisg journal that gives great info on proper dosage. (I need to check & make sure I am giving credit when it is due!
Avatar n tn I take Vitamin B complex everyday to help hold down nerve pain in my feet.
Avatar f tn It is a disorder of the nerves which causes numbness, tingling, unusual sensations and sometimes pain. Diabetes Mellitus can cause neuropathy. Other causes like vitamin deficiencies, alcohol consumption and certain medications can cause neuropathy. You may need to consult your primary care physician to detect the cause. Regards.
Avatar n tn Does GERD cause a deficiency in vitamin B? I have recently read that it does and am curious what others think. I have GERD and Hiatal Hernia and take Pantoprazole, 40 mg twice a day.
Avatar f tn the other says that if my body is not absorbing B12, taking a vitamin will not help and I will require B12 injections. Is this a common deficiency for women?
Avatar f tn If you have actual depression caused by a lack of seratonin in your brain, you need medication for depression to fix that deficiency. Vitamin B is not going to fix your seratonin deficiency. You feel worse because your'e probably getting worse. Go see a Dr.
Avatar m tn The cobal in the name refers to the metal cobalt contained in B 12. Vitamin B 12 is required for the normal activity of nerve cells and works with folate and vitamin B 6 to lower blood levels of homocysteine, a chemical in the blood that might contribute to heart disease. B 12 also plays a role in the body's manufacture of S-adenosylmethionine (SAMe). Anemia is usually (but not always) the first sign of B 12 deficiency.

Avatar f tn Vitamin B-12 deficiency causes nerve pain or tingling, dementia, mental illness, tremors and difficulty walking. Also when vitamin B-12 and vitamin D deficiency together can mimic multiple sclerosis, chronic fatigue syndrome and postpartom depression/phychosis. The way I found this info is I have some of these symtoms. I searched (surfed) the internet individual searches like vitamin A deficiency symptoms.and so on.It also could take up to a year to correct some deficiencies.

Avatar f tn Test for vitamin B12 deficiency. To add, diabetes drug metformin is a known cause of vitamin B12 deficiency. Optimal B12 serum is above 800pg/mL or 600pmol/L. If your B12 levels are under this, then sublingual B12 is highly recommended.
