Icecream The main concern I would have about the addition to Lantus 20 units daily would be the risk of low blood sugar, especially in combination with glimepiride. Both Lantus and glimepiride can cause low blood sugar or hypoglycemia. Just make sure you're watching for the signs of low blood sugar, which are, sudden headache, feeling shaky, and weakness. There are many more signs of hypoglycemia and I encourage you to research it more yourself.
1068689 tn?1325827206 Thanks for the info. When i was at my dizziest time, my BG's were still over 220. I was also dizzy at 180 so am pretty sure it is not due to low BG's at this point. The side affects to Glimepiride also includes dizziness. I was hoping others on here may have taken this pill and had some experiences with it. Since this new change in meds is new I'm sure there are some issues I just have to deal with.
Avatar f tn He takes 2 tablets Glycomet Trio 1 (Metformin HCL Sustained Release, Glimepiride & Voglibose Tablets) - 1 before taking lunch and before taking dinner.
Avatar m tn That happened to me with metformin and my doctor switched me to glipizide. Now my numbers are going in the right direction. I think you need to complain to your doctor and find what works for you.
1273125 tn?1365077526 I will confess that I have not been dilligent with my diet and exercise. My latest A1c was 7.3. I am taking 850 mg of Metformin twice a day. My morning blood sugar is around 200. I am close to or over 200 for most of the day as well. I have decided that until I can lose weight and get my numbers in control that way that insulin might be a good choice for me. I am afraid that it constantly being that high is going to cause damage.
Avatar n tn After this happened a couple of times I quit taking the Metformin. About a year later I was then diagnosed with T2 and am now on Glimepiride and have since began having these episodes again. They begin in the jaw area primarily the glands just below my jaws, with a sting/tingling that intensifies and radiates out all around my ears, neck throat and surface of my chest, and my upper torso goes ice cold. This takes place any where from a 30 second to a 3 minute cycle.
Avatar m tn Dx with high blood pressure, diabetes mellitus T2 (FBG was 7.3), fatty liver (ASP and ALP elevated). Started diabetic diet and Glimepiride for 10 days. FBG was 6 or under but after 10 days I had hypoglicemic episode. I was shaking, cold, lost all my strength. The whole time my BG was 6. I ate few things. Bread and fruit. Shaking stopped. Doc said FBG of 6 and HbA1c of 6.3 should be managed with diet and exercise.
Avatar n tn 5 years ago I started doing cardio and weight trainig 5 days a week with a trainer and eating a clean diet and have lost 50lbs and have maintained it. BUT my stomach WILL NOT go down. My trainer thinks it could be some of my medications and/or its interactions with each other. Here's a list of what I am currently still taking: Clonidine, Glimepiride, Byetta, Metformin, Amlodipine, Crestor, and Losartan HCT. Is it possible that it could be these meds? Please help!!
Avatar n tn Hi Doctor, My wife has consulted the doctor as advised by you and he has prescribed Cetapin 1000 mg 1-0-1 (metformin) along with Glimy-4(Glimepiride)1-0-0-. Hope this is OK.
Avatar f tn I am anxious to concevie again but have been told by my doctor that I will need a combination of clomid and metformin. Has anyone done both and been effective while breastfeeding ? .
374593 tn?1257879950 Thanks so much for your help! they believe its the combination of my mild pcos and the severe endo on the ovary that causes my LUFS, we will probably have to do IVF next! Thanks so much for your time!
Avatar f tn I was seing an OB and they started me on metformin for a few months than we moved to clomid and metformin. After that wasnt working and trying for a 5 months they couldnt do anything else for me so I started to see an RE and he gave me my options we choice IVF and we are not 3 months pregnant! :) It is very possible you just need the right combination of drugs that work for you. As long as you dont give up and you try different things you will become pregnant!
Avatar n tn Often, beebop, oral diabetes medications are prescribed in combination; different medicines have different chemical action, and approach the control of diabetes from "different angles". However, what you seem to be saying is that you had two different doctors, each prescribed one medication and now you are taking both? If I'm understanding you correctly, that is not a good idea.
Avatar n tn clomid, metformin and levothyroxine ( For PCOS and Thyroid problems). I have never taken clomid and metformin together before. So I was wondering whether this combination may cause PMS symptoms like sore breasts.
Avatar f tn I have pcos and have been taking metformin clomid and provera prescribed by my doctor. Ive been on the drugs for three months but still no sign of pregnancy.
Avatar n tn I was on metformin for a yr and a half and am 34 weeks pregnant right now with a baby girl. Did have to lose weight to make it happen and take metformin but it happened. :) Don't lose hope.
Dog If you are on a combination of medications, it could be that the combination was responsible for the drop, OR that your lack of eating caused the sugar level to dip. It will be important to report all of you sugar levels to your doctor, but I would not recommend stopping or changing medications. Good luck!
1959497 tn?1325174764 I have noticed that after I take my metformin I go to the restroom with yellow, frothy stools and slightly nauseated. I have tried taking the metformin before eating and after with the same effects.
Avatar m tn PPC was more active than diammonium glycyrrhicinate, ursodeoxycholic acid (UDCA), bezafibrate, and fish oil. A combination therapy of metformin, diet, exercise and PPC in patients with type 2 diabetes was more effective than metformin, diet and exercise alone. The same was the case for the combination therapy of PPC with UDCA. No relevant side-effects were reported.
Avatar n tn Usually PCOS results in added abdominal weight and if you have increased weight in this area, the combination of Metformin, diet and exercise can help your hormones go back to normal more quickly. It would be best to give your body a few months to get regulated in order to have the healthiest pregnancy possible. Best wishes for a healthy pregnancy in the future!
Avatar n tn I went to an endocrinologist who put me on Vicotza and glimepiride. M numbers have dropped drastically. I am never over 150 now. Have been on it for maybe a month. So insulin is an option but there are other medications that help too. Problem with insulin is it cause weight gain which can perpetuate the over -weight high blood sugar issues! Vicotza can work as a weight loss aide as well. Call an endo soon!!
