Avatar f tn m on an aspirin a day as well as Lisinopril and Metformin - both prescription meds. Have you discussed this with your doctor? A call to the office should be sufficient or a question to the pharmacist if you're in the drug store. Better to get an expert's opinion.

Avatar m tn Did your mother have any clotting tests? surely the platelet activity is far too low? I'm on aspirin and clopidogrel (Plavix). Before I was on these drugs, a cut, even deep, would stop bleeding very quickly, withing minutes. Maybe that was the beauty of very high cholesterol? anyway, since being on blood thinners, a cut takes about an extra ten minutes to heal, but no more than that. Blood tests have shown my clotting factors are as they would want them to be.
Avatar m tn She has been on medication - Aspirin 81 mg, Metoprolol, Crestor and Metformin (since recently to control her elevated sugar levels) every day. She started to experience more frequent angina attacks, along with symptoms of vomiting / nausea, abdominal pain since May of this year. The angina attacks have become progressively more frequent and severe in the past 6-8 weeks. Her cardiologist has referred her for an angiogram with a possible angioplasty this coming Thursday.

605648 tn?1249571427 After my 4th mc, I switched doctors, stayed on that combo and added progesterone 3 dpo and got a positive. I stayed on the metformin and progesterone thru 12 weeks and the others thru term - and my DD is now almost 14 months. If you are positive for MTHFR you should ask to have your homocysteine levels checked -that is the hormone effected by the gene and can lead to cardiovascular issues. Mine was fine but we added the baby aspirin and folic acid as a precaution.
Avatar f tn Not everyone can tolerate the same medication. Your doctor should have pulled you immediately off Metformin and have you try one of the other 5 classes of oral diabetes medication. When filling your prescription always ask for a consultation with the Pharmacist to understand the drugs side effects. Call your doctor and stop taking any drug if you experience serious side effect/s.
325224 tn?1342795914 If so, are you taking any extra precautions to avoid misscarriage? I need advice. I think I"m going to just call my doctor today and ask about it.

Avatar f tn I have PCOS and my RE put me on Metformin. As I understand this is one of the best medications you can be on for PCOS. I would suggest asking your doctor about it.

Avatar f tn My husband and I have been TTC for 3 years and just recently I was diagnosed with PCOS. I began taking metformin in January and my periods are now more regular than they have been in a very long time. On Saturday I took a pt and it was positive, I wasn't sure about it and I took another and it was negative. So now I am basically left stuck in the middle. Doc said to wait a coulple days and take another one. I am freaking out! This is so upsetting in so many ways!
Avatar n tn After this happened a couple of times I quit taking the Metformin. About a year later I was then diagnosed with T2 and am now on Glimepiride and have since began having these episodes again. They begin in the jaw area primarily the glands just below my jaws, with a sting/tingling that intensifies and radiates out all around my ears, neck throat and surface of my chest, and my upper torso goes ice cold. This takes place any where from a 30 second to a 3 minute cycle.
Avatar m tn I was recently diagnosed with type 2 diabetes and high cholesterol. I take metformin for the diabetes and simvastatin for the cholesterol. Recently, (just the last few days), my ears have steadily grown in "fullness". It happens mainly at night when I lay down to sleep. Most times I just fall asleep and wake up fine. But tonight, when the fullness came on, I started feeling dizzy while laying down and that started a litlle anxiety episode and here it is 3+ hours later.
1053407 tn?1352030371 Now that you mention it I did on my last IUI cycle but I have no idea why. What meds are you on? I was on Metformin, Prometrium, Prenatals and Baby Aspirin.
Avatar f tn Everyone wants to cover themselves--legally--so most sources say "don't take aspirin if you're pg." However, this generally applies to FULL doses of aspirin and NOT low-dose (aka, baby) aspirin. I have 2 clotting disorders, am taking low-dose aspirin and I'm now 23w pg. I've had 3 healthy pgs and 2 m/c's BEFORE the diagnosis and the aspirin.
Avatar f tn But you have to take the pills before breakfast, with breakfst, beetwen breakfast and lunch and so on.Like every 2-3 hours and i cannot even take aspirin so taking all those pills were not good for me.
Avatar n tn this can be purchased in pill form, and it has the same blood thinning properties as aspirin WITHOUT the side effects. Since it appears your A-Fib is not constant I think I would go this route first, oh yes, also, a good, liquid fish oil would keep the blood slippery and clot free. I take one by Carlson, I am used to the taste now, and believe me, it helps.
Avatar f tn I saw an RE for the first 6 weeks just because he helped me get pregnant in the first place. I was on metformin (also helps prevent miscarriage), progesterone and baby aspirin for the first trimester. My OB has done a great job managing everything I don't think you need an endocrinologist unless you end up developing gestational diabetes which we are at higher risk for also.
Avatar n tn I had an agioplasty with drug eluting stent (two stents were placed ) about 3 years back. I am a diabetic on metformin 1gm BD and hypothyroid with replacement therapy. For last 3 years since my Angioplasty i am on Plavix 75 mg, aspirin 81 mg ,simva statin 20 mg, and a beta blocker bisoprolol 5mg . Is it safe to continue with Plavix or should be discontinued?
