Avatar f tn Side effects from Metformin are very common but rarely long lasting. Generally your body should adjust within a week or two and your tummy troubles should subside. There are several different medications available so you should discuss your symptoms with your doctor. You are not stuck with just one choice. Your doctor should have given you a test kit so that you can check your blood sugar. Monitor it regularly, as directed by your doctor or diabetes consultant.
Avatar f tn Only side affects I suffered from were stomach upsets and diareaha in the first 2 weeks of starting it. I've been on it for about 2 years now, and the side affects are all gone. Generally speaking, Metformin can take 3-12 months to kick in and actually start working.

Avatar f tn Hm, so you are diagnosed as PCOS or they just started the metformin for the reason of the adrenal gland issue? I'm trying to understand. LOL I know things that affect any part of our hormonal system will result in some mood changes. Are you taking the metformin as they intended? Have they also considered clomid? You've been working with a fertility doctor--- and done all the testing and this is the only issue they see with regards to getting pregnant?
Avatar f tn I have been on metformin for 8 moths now and my dr just uped my dosage to 1500mg. So far it has not worked for me. I am still not ovulating. For me the symptoms were stomach aches, nuasea, head aches. They were really bad when I was getting used to the 1000mg. But once your body gets used to it the symptoms should go away, you might be left with mild cases of them. I found that my symptoms feel better if I am moving around and kepping myself busy but when I relax they get worse.
Avatar f tn I've had no side effects. Once in a while i'll have loose stool if i eat too many carbs. How is your dr. having you take it?
Avatar f tn I've been taking Metformin 2000mg XR for 3 months and am just now getting side effects like metallic taste and gastro side effects. Same pharmacy, same Sando manufacturer. Is it normal to have side effects after a few months? I never had any side effects initially.
Avatar f tn Can you tell me about its side effects? Recently I went for a checkup and my doctor gave me Metformin for weight loss (It suddently went up to 99 kg though I was at 85 before and was following a strict diet plan). I don't have diabetes and I haven't been diagnosed with PCOS, and I think Metformin is generally used for these two issues. So I'm concened whether I should really be Metformin. Can it mess up my insulin system?
Avatar m tn My fasting blood sugar now is 75 to 80 and before bed around 90 to 100 due to exercising everyday and taking the medication and strict diet. I will have blood work in April and hopefully my doctor will let me stay off the med for good.

1187113 tn?1320691496 I did when I was 16. I was dx with PCOS at age 16, started taking it right away. I an't even begin to tell you how Metformin made me feel. I was bloated, vomitting, I think that is why I lost so much weight on it. So I went to the docs, and I told them that I wasn't able to handle the side effects of the medication. I am now 24, and I am Metformin again..I am on 500 mg BID (twice a day), and I have been on it for 3 months now. I am moving up to 750mg BID in two weeks.
Avatar m tn is,Do I start the meds and do the diet or do I just do the diet and see what my stats are? All these meds have scary side effects and say no drinking alcohol but the HCG drops have 20%.alcohol. If I lose the weight will my stats change? Has anyone gotten off diabetes meds on this diet? I'm going crazy!!! Any input is greatly appreciated.
2030686 tn?1351688548 I started double therapy yesterday and I just wanna make sure my sides are normal.. I had the chills from time to time, but I was hot more. What I'm concerned about is my legs and hips hurt so bad I could barely walk. I 'm on a high dose of vicodin and it didn't seem to touch this pain. I had a small amount of chest pain on the left side, but it was mild pain and didn't last long. I took a hot bath for my legs and it helped for a little while, but the pain came back.
Teacher NO side-effects from Metformin - Lucky you!
393893 tn?1283551230 It named off many side effects that were normal and were not normal. I had both. I put in a call to my re yesterday but haven't heard back yet and I'm a little scared. If anyone can tell me exactly what they experienced I would be so grateful-thank you!
